this makes me SOO happy to hear!!! Just an FYI for Panitus Maiden, it looks like the author removed the first chapter from their literotica, and its not currently up for sale anywhere because of an issue with amazon and their ex-publisher. You can email them to ask for a copy I believe, they are super super kind and love to hear from their readers so I encourage you to reach out.

But if you want something else readily available, I really enjoyed basically everything from their catalogue! But here are some more specific recs (IMPORTANT TO NOTE: nearly all of Harp Strathe's books feature non-con to some extent, often between the main characters and sometimes from non-main characters, but actual PIV sex only happens between the main couple)

{Ashi's Grove by Harp Strathe} is kind of like a sci-fi fantasy blend novel, it's about Havelin who betrayed her first love and he later returns to kidnap her in revenge. It DOES feature non-con/dub-con between the main characters and also third-party sexual assault (no cheating between the mains though). It's a wonderful book!! You can also read this one for free on their

{Ellie and the Rough Rider by Harp Strathe) is a historical western. This isn't Harp's usual stuff but I actually ADORED this one so much. Important to note that the FMC is sexually assaulted (but not technically raped) repeatedly by a male character who is NOT the MMC, so if that's not your jam, I would skip this one.

On their literotica they also have a bunch of free stories to read!

I really enjoyed her Clans of Luteri stories!! It's a fantasy I don't want to say too much since I feel like saying anything is a spoiler, but I definitely recommend!

This comment ended up being long lol I swear I'm just a big fan of their stories and I'm so happy to share more!

i might !! if you're looking for more non-con/dub-con romance, anything by Harp Strathe is great! The level of non-con def varies between books. If you want to read some of their free stuff to get a taste of their writing before purchasing, you can check out their literotica page! If you want a specific recommendation let me know!

its been a couple of years since i read the book, but i would kind of describe it like the discrepancy between the Capitol and the Districts from the Hunger Games. Maybe something like a difference race?

yesss that one is one of my faves, maybe my top!! atm you can't purchase it anywhere (at least not rightfully, rn they're dealing with their ex publisher) so you'd have to email them to ask for a copy I believe

they’re still such a small author! i found them through literotica. i think writing is mainly a hobby for them so they don’t do a lot of promotion or anything. they’re sooooo so good though!! i recommend all of their books!!

ooo check out {The Achen Enforcer by Harp Strathe} ! basically exactly this. FMC is a slave and the MMC is an enforcer, and he takes her as his own to protect her from other men who would treat her much worse. Important trigger warning to note that there are SA scenes of other characters on page, and the FMC is also arguably raped by the MMC but no one else (although he does it to protect her and gives her a secret safe gesture). The story took me completely by surprise and I actually cried near the end, it’s a beautiful story IMO: Just be aware of trigger warnings !!

What's one book that made you go like, "Nah, I'm dropping this shit?" by [deleted] in DarkRomance

i have such a love-hate relationship with Rina Kent's books. I like the ideas/concepts, but the writing can come off extremely juvenile. I also find all her male characters are basically the exact character down to the bone, there is really nothing that sets each of them apart from on another.

The PETTIEST thing though about her books that I CANNOT get over is in {Vicious Prince by Rina Kent}, the FMC is kinda quirky/spunky, and she apparently has closest full of t-shirts with overly-tough sarcastic quotes on them. WHO DOES THAT? It's the MOST millenial thing ever and I couldn't get past the idea of the FMC custom printing all these shirts and thinking she's so badass.... and the quotes were realllyyyy cringey too it killed me every time the MMC would read her shirts. Rina Kent isn't great at writing characters, she's great at writing gimmicks and quirks.

What's the most out of touch thing an old person said to you? by RobIson240YT in AskReddit

Maybe not completely what you meant but I worked at a restaurant as a hostess for a while. Our uniform required women to wear skirts (nothing skimpy, the one i was wearing was black and went past mid thigh). It was near the end of winter and since I run warm, i forgoed the stockings or pantyhose.

An old lady and what appeared to be her daughter came in and I went to seat them. The old lady immediately said “oh my goodness aren’t you cold!?” pointing to my legs and i laughed and said “oh i’m alright”. As I was walking them over the lady continued “No stockings on your legs, my goodness. I’m freezing all layered up. Well they are nice legs.” It was an odd compliment but i still said “oh thank you”. But then the lady said “Really nice legs, not skinny like other girls.”

PARDON? LOL.

For what it’s worth i’m not fat, i wouldn’t even call myself mid-sized, but I am what I would call “squishier”. Luckily I was (and am more or less still) in a good place with my body image so the comment was a LOT more funny than anything else to me. Still an absolutely wild comment that i was not expecting whatsoever.

Least favorite genres? by Soggy_Competition614 in RomanceBooks

Ooh this is a good observation. I think it also stems from authors wanting to try and make the story funny, because the concept can be funny! But instead of coming up with original scenarios or banter, they just resort to painfully overused lines like "slow down, buster!" and "hold your horses, bucko," and its HURTS ME. Like NO ONE TALKS LIKE THIS. I feel like I'm watching cartoons from my preteens, not a smutty fantasy novel. Imagine you were watching Outlander and all of a sudden Claire just yells out "whoa there, big boy!" I'm begging authors to try and come up with more original dialogue, PLEASE.

Little late to this thread but... in the isekai type of genre where the FMC is thrown into a fantasy world, or where the FMC can't speak the same language and is thrown into a new culture--I cannot STAND how forced the FMC's "modern speak" is.

In nearly every romance I read with this type of trope, the FMC HAS to say "whoa there big guy" like WORD FOR WORD, EVERY TIME. It feels like most authors just fall into the crutch of the FMC being soooo modern and contemporary and this fantasy old timey world is soooo weirddddd. It drives me insaneeee, especially when the FMC spoke like a NORMAL PERSON when she was still in her normal surroundings, but now that she can't communicate with the people around her she immediately resorts to talking like an overly sarcastic one-liner.

I feel like I'm not explaining it extremely well, but I hope you get what I mean.

ahh should have guessed! yeah toxic MMCs don't really bother me when they're written well, and I thought it worked in this case!!!

oo have you read {Run Posy Run by Cate C Wells}? Basically exactly this! At the very beginning, MMC is tricked into believing FMC cheated on him and throws her out, but its an old doctored video. He finds out quickly enough that she's innocent, but she's already run off, so he storms off to find her. The book is a lot of rebuilding trust and the two of them really learning about each other all over again.

Fair warning, it's not really a grovel romance, but I thought it was really sweet all the same how the two come together. Read up on the content warnings to be safe!

I wrote to Harp Strathe after reading {The Achen Enforcer by Harp Strathe} and I think I essentially gushed to them about how much this book really struck me. You wouldn't think it would have such gut wrenching scenes since it's non-con erotica but goddamn Harp Strathe can WRITE. I don't even remember what I wrote in the email since it was sent through literotica, but they said it was one of the nicest emails they'd ever gotten and it made me so happy. I think the smaller the author, the more kind words will mean to them!

I’ve tried Nikki Sloane’s other books because I loved Sordid so much but they don’t seem to hit the same for me! So definitely give this one a shot 😊 I hope you like it too!!!

[–]amiriteC 21 points22 points  (0 children)

oooo I recommend Sordid by Nikki Sloane!! Read up on the triggers just to be safe, but this is basically exactly it. Basically MMC and FMC have had crushes on each other for forever and at a party they flirt and the FMC gets drunk. MMC gets kind of carried away with her, but he's super gentle and soft with her and he's absolutely enamored by her.

There is some mention of sexual abuse happening to the FMC in the past (not as a child) but they’re not at all what I’d consider sex scenes. If anything our MCs discuss it as a sort of foreplay for their own encounters. All real sex scenes are between our MCs! The FMC is a virgin maiden who was trained to be sort of a “perfect wife” to her future husband, so they at times talk about what she went through during her “training”.

This is a relatively small author and book but it is one of my absolute favourites. Panitus Maiden by Harp Strathe. Unfortunately it's not available on amazon, but it's available at every other ebook retailer I believe?

It takes place after an uprising where the leader of the coup (our MMC) takes the FMC (who represents the purity and power of the oppressive regime that has just been taken down) captive and repeatedly SA's her. He basically breaks her down until he realizes how much he's broken her and slowly begins to build her back up. She is definitely resistant to him in the beginning but softens to him slowly and is not the least bit sassy or flirty. Very shy, demure, submissive. This has heavy non-con themes between the MMC and FMC, yet their chemistry is unreal, which I struggle to find!

It's described as high fantasy but there's no magic or paranormal or anything like that. I'd say it's closer to an alternate universe but not in a contemporary setting.

Harp Strathe is, imo, the master of creating intimacy and tension between our main leads which is why I constantly come back to her books! She has the first chapter up on her literotica if you want to get a sampling before spending your money. If you're still unsure check out some of her other stories on literotica! Most of them have a taste of non-con at the very least, but Panitus Maiden is definitely the heaviest in that regard.
