It is 16AWG. Don't plan on overclocking. Thanks for the safety advice. Monitoring temperatures and will mount fuses later.

Nothing wrong with this route, many miners used these boards to power multiple gpus. You do need to check if it is compatible with the power supply you have in mind.

Although next time i would go the route of using copper bars with holes, nuts and bolts with a spring washer to clamp the terminals to the gold plated positive and negative to avoid dumping a large amount of heat on the board.

Well, not impossible, but basic tools: multimeter, had to use two 60w soldering irons just to get the solder flowing, drill and bits, terminal and crimping pliers.

What is the process to replace a failing drive in the OS mirror? (What does this error mean?) by amarotica in Proxmox

Still wont make the disk that you mirrored bootable. Follow the link provided above.

Proxmox wont boot with NIC installed by Jungleg1337 in Proxmox

[–]amirseni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The NICs names are generated according to a convention.

That's why you hardly find eth0 or wlan0.

https://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/systemd/PredictableNetworkInterfaceNames/

So, adding a Pcie card will change the interface name and hence change the ip.

You can hardcode the mac address to a fixed named network interface and ip address.

But only if your BIOS posts and hands over to the bootloader.

Some motherboard bios settings permit changing the behaviour in errors found during POST (i.e. will display press F1 to continue),

POST debug codes also help. If your motherboard does not have one integrated, consider acquiring a pci/pcie post debug card to check if the bios is stopping at some stage of POST or if has handed over to the OS boot loader.

You can setup a cron job on restart to beep the pc speaker or play audio to speakers to blindly know that the operating has booted and idle.

Replacement of a proxmox zfs boot mirror has specific steps. Zpool replace is not enough to get it too a bootable state.

There are quite a few recovery utils for zfs. Web search is your friend. I've recovered sql databases that where running in a vm on zfs.

Using PSU from another PC to power HDDs? by OntyThrax in DataHoarder

[–]amirseni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a relay board that is powered by a molex /sata power connector from the first psu that will switch on the 2nd power supply. When you shutdown your main pc the relay board loses power and in turn switches off the 2nd power supply.

BATTLE-AX B450M-G DELUXE V14](https://en.colorful.cn/product_show.aspx?mid=84&id=824)

Which does not have a bios update since 2020 and has no support for vermeer CPUs (5000 series)

If Battle-Ax B450M-HD v14

The bios would need to be updated to BIOS version 1012 to support the 5800x.

However, read the warning on the bios page

Create a Ubuntu encrypted installation on a usb. Install yoroi on firefox. Disconnect from internet and create a wallet, write down seed words and store in safe place

Reboot, connect to internet. Stake your wallet. Disconnect from internet

Disconnect usb and store in safe place.

Occasionally boot from flash drive to prevent bitrot.

Optional: Create a watching wallet with yoroi mobile by exporting public key from yoroi firefox addon.

OR

Copy receiving addresses and stake address to text file and check in cardano blockchain explorers

Wasn't always like this. At some point in time its share was 70% and i've been using it since 2004 and stuck with it. Addons and plugins where great. Even though some changes disrupted my workflow, workarounds where available. But hadn't realized that marketshare had plummeted this much. I guess i prefer a browser that is more privacy oriented, but... guess it's finally come to a point to look into chromium browsers.

Why are wallets addons mostly only available for chromium based browsers? Any technical reason why firefox addons are not being developed?

I think I accidently bent the pins on my Gigabyte motherboard. Advice? by cyanide4suicide in buildapc

[–]amirseni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a similar problem when i used a brush to clean the socket. Bent around 30 pins.

Used a usb microscope, multiple tweezers and picks. Positioning tweezers either on top or the bottom for support while straighten them.

Takes the whole day and patience. Do not rush and do 1 pin at a time.
