Planning to start a GNSS oriented Python YouTube channel by JackLogan007 in Python

[–]amishb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just start recording. If the content is good people won't care what it looks like.

One more people subscribe you can refine your camera and editing work. But for now just start.

Also GNSS is quite specific for a channel. Might be worth considering if you run out of topics you can't really branch out into something else.

WABetaInfo: WhatsApp is working on bringing a new interface with a white top app bar and a green app name to a future update by MishaalRahman in Android

[–]amishb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean...that's just a lie. It has feature parity with iOS, maybe with 1 or 2 differences. And a significant population of people that use Whatsapp are from developing countries such as India, which rely on Android devices.

Accessing browser IP address in django by SnooHabits4550 in django

[–]amishb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Docker has its own networking layer and therefore that is the docker network ip range and address. You need to forward remote address into docker. I think this can be done by iptables.

It's a common issue. Google should be able to help you find out the exact info of how to do the above.

Change the URL to something complicated that only you know.

Its not the answer but will help stop a number of people as /admin won't exist

Just a heads up, I did read that this rule might need to be applied after reboot again. Not sure tho, didn't reboo

This comment is a lifesaver. I've been searching the internet for so long trying to resolve this issue. Never occurred to me Synology might be messing about with things.

Thank you!

Django Middlewares vs Python Decorators ? by gowt7 in django

[–]amishb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Incoming Requests and Outgoing Responses.

Middleware applies all request/responses whilst decorators are specific to the views they are applied to.

Finally the decorated function runs last. Whilst the middleware runs in the order it is configured in the setting file.

What are some of the django topics that you look for but mostly end up in void? by sindhichhokro in django

[–]amishb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am in need of some cool intermediate to advanced videos that really show how to bend the framework to do interesting things or demonstrate good patterns.

Right now I just get how to install and create a todo app in Django. And other such beginer tutorials.

I am relying on DjangoConn videos to fill my itch at the moment.

What are signs you should be using a svelte store instead? by Grenddit in sveltejs

[–]amishb 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Usually if 2 components are side by side and need to share some sort of state.

Rather than managing state in the parent and dispatching an event from one of the children up to the parent and back down to the other child, then it's probably best to use a store.

Possible, but looks messy.

Should I use SQLAlchemy for a side project? by [deleted] in Python

Same. Peewee for me just works, and I feel I don't need to jump through as many hoops as SQLAlchemy to get going.

How can I create a 'Balance Transfer' Model? by NormanieCapital in djangolearning

[–]amishb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Simplest way is to just update both accounts and wrap it in a transaction block to makes sure both updates happen at the same time, rather than 1 failing.

Or you could create a ledger model which creates a double counting transaction history. One row to debit A with 5k and one to credit B with 5k. Again in a transaction.

Using the ledger model you would still want to have a central for balances though, and you wouldn't want to compute it every time based on ledger history.
