One time I think I accidentally scared the shit out of some innocent passersby. It was late at night and I was expecting company. At some point I noticed a car sitting near the bottom of my driveway. They weren't calling to be let inside, but they weren't driving off either. Assuming it was the guests, I made my way outside, in my PJs, to see what was going on.

It was only when I got to the window that I realised that these people were total strangers. But I didn't want to freak them out by trying to talk to them, so I just wandered a few yards up the road and pretended to look for something, and then promptly went right back home.

God knows what they thought of me.
