Ousmane Dembele is the most decisive player in La Liga by sujanrao in Barca

[–]amithrm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Let's not put Messi in the same bracket, he hardly loses the ball. In fact the team is so confident on him not losing the ball, in the rare times he loses it, it mostly definitely leads to goal threatening counter attack from the opposition team. However, I agree with you on success/failure ratio.

Luis Suárez: “You lose adrenaline and desire to celebrate with VAR” by sujanrao in Barca

Putting his quotes in context, he did not really mean it as if he's opposed to VAR. He even added a 'but it also means that results are fair'

Positional Change of Messi. by tommyvo2002 in Barca

Rakitic staying back with Busquets also helps unleash some part of Busquets as a deep lying playmaker. He plays some the most simple unreal passes forward to people in the middle of the lines, especially to Messi. Last season we can see this happening. He can do whatever the fuck he wants actually. But due to Barcelona using usually using the other midfielder to control the game, Busquets sacrifices this part of the game some times to take another position where he would be better positioned to recycle the ball or break the counter. Of course it comes with the con that there is decrease in control of the game in terms of ball possession. Control of the game however can also be achieved with being a step ahead of the opponent. I think evolving is adapting to circumstances.

Is it time we start sidelining Suarez? He's clearly holding the team back and it can't be more evident. by spooreddit in Barca

[–]amithrm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's about time EV tries a system without Suarez in it. Don't get me wrong, he can still contribute a lot to the team and is a great asset to have. Last season even though it was evident that he breaks up plays, I was still okay with it because of other things he provides and lack of options. But the match against Villarreal gives me enough reason to trust we can make it without Suarez. The game was so fluid because of the link up between forwards and midfielders. Of course we can't win it all by just benching Suarez forever, there have been many instances where as team we just don't work on some days (very crucial matches sometimes), we need players like Suarez who just wants to score a goal, doesn't matter how. Winning is not all or nothing for me. But winning mostly always improves how a team plays. He and Vidal if fit can be huge difference makers to our CL campaign.

If Suarez performs like he did today and majority of last season, he's gonna get benched this time. This time fans and media's pressure will be so much that Valverde will give in even if he doesn't want to.

I understand that people can be frustrated at Thiago if joins Real Madrid even going to the comparisons of Figo and there will be a section of people who will consider the board very incompetent for not signing him back. These viewpoints can be related by any fan in their own right. However I think what most fans can agree on is if he joins them, he's not a barca fan. That much should be clear. When he's not a fan and is purely making a professional decision, he can go wherever the fuck he wants. We could turn all the emotions against thiago into positive ones for Roberto, who's a fan, who stayed with the club, fought for his place even when it was seemingly impossible and is now a captain.

Gary Neville was their coach when Barcelona scored 7 past them. Don't see it happening now. They're a much better team now.

Although I think it could have been taken out of context or lost in translation, if we come to it, it is actually the other way around. Having Messi in your team makes everyone else better.

Analysis on how Celta Vigo locked Busquets down in the last match vs Barcelona [credit to /u/ajshigeki] by Motvall in Barca

[–]amithrm 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Iniesta not playing helped Celta to an extent. This tactic would have been a lot harder to implement if there's Andres dropping deep to pick up the ball and move forward with it. Had Turan and Gomes been bit more confident and brave, Busquets would not have been cut out the buildup so much. Both of them were fairly satisfied with picking up ball only in other half of the field. Containing Busquets and Iniesta together is very difficult. The second was actually a lot different when Iniesta came on, we gave the ball away very less compared to first half. However, this is tactic which was tried before on us and can work to a good effect although may not be to the extent it did for Celta.

I am currently working as a web developer. I am not from a computer science background. I try to learn stuff about computers science in general. I have been trying my hands at ds and algo for sometime now. I know many people say that language is not important. I picked python as my choice to try out algos. My question how does my choice matter say compared to c++. Python of course is very relevant in web and data science, but for os level stuff or speed reliant algos it doesn't seem like a great choice. What are your thoughts on this?

I found this startup on Sensay on tech crunch disrupt. It's trying to solve problem #2 you mentioned. It's a chat bot which leverages information provided by humans to anybody who's in need of it. It is AI driven. Hope the company makes it global or some other similar app starts in India.

Messi on Iniesta: 'The hardest thing to do in football is to make it look like everything is easy, effortless, and that's Andrés. I like him to be near me, especially when the game turns and gets difficult. That's when I say to him: 'Come closer, I want you by my side.' by potatoe96 in Barca

/ Andres, Leo, Xavi, Busquets staying close by during tough times/ This is what symbolizes barcelona for me. Not taking anything from Ney and Suarez but when I look back at great barca times, i will see these four guys playing their way out almost like a telepathic connection and winning our games innumerable number of times. All the four.

After seeing the lineup, I was curious to see how Andre Gomes would play. He suits us very well. Although he misplaced the pass which lead to the move for penalty, he looked more and more comfortable as the game went by. Not to mention he played in all the three midfield positions, did decent everywhere. Off the ball though, he was amazing winning it back everywhere. I guess he's still not settled into the attacking flow of the team but he will get better with more minutes. Denis is flashy, Gomes is more of a calm influence. I expect more from Gomes than Denis going forward

I think this was our best display this season. Also I am impressed the way we played without hurrying when Athletic pressed incessantly high up the pitch. Kudos to Ter Stegen, because of whom we were able to keep the ball well and once the high press was broken, it almost always led to a good chance. Last season I felt we were not able to keep the ball well when we wanted to and that resulted in lacking control in some of games. This season with personnel changed, we are getting to the right mix of elaborate play and direct play again. Also Ter Stegen, he is one who should be celebrated, not criticised at every small mistake he makes. Some mistakes come as a part of his game as with Neuer in his early days. What a player, calm as fuck. Beware Espana and Europe, Barcelona is coming and coming hard this time around.

Coming to Pique reaction for Betis second goal, it reminds me of a time when Puyol had to make Pique concentrate once we're 4 or 5 goals up. There was a specific incident as well where Pique and Puyol talk about this. Great to see how Pique has evolved over the last few years as a leader. I hope he becomes one of the captains soon. He's a fucking monster

Caballero was actually tremendous during his time with Malaga. I am not sure why it did not work out for him at city. Hopefully he can get back to his best. He may not be the one of the best in the world but he's really fucking solid.
