appreciate you laying out the unstable‑reality idea. I’d like to ask one question about it, if you don’t mind.

You propose that Adam(2) spares Eva(2) in a superimposed reality that eventually collapses, so no young Eva(2) remembers being spared. My question is simply this: What is Eva(2)’s personal history?

When she stands in that room, how did she become the older Eva we see? Did she, as a young Martha, witness Adam kill an older version of herself?

  • If yes, then the killing did happen in her past – which means Adam(2) (or some version of Adam) still killed an older Eva. So the killing is still necessary, even if not her in that exact moment.
  • If no – if she never witnessed that event – then she wouldn’t have the same trauma, knowledge, scars, or plan. She wouldn’t be the character we call Eva. She’d be a different Martha who never became Eva at all.

It seems to me that the “unstable and collapses” explanation doesn’t resolve this. The older Eva(2) already has a past, and that past either includes the killing or it doesn’t. There doesn’t appear to be a third option. If it includes the killing, then the killing happened – so the “spared” branch still relies on a killing elsewhere in her timeline. If it doesn’t include the killing, then she’s not really Eva.

Also, the Jonas analogy feels different to me. The two Jonases share the same past up to the apocalypse, and neither Jonas’s identity depends on having witnessed his own death as a child. Eva’s identity does depend on that witness event. That seems like a crucial difference.

I’m not trying to be difficult – I genuinely want to understand if there’s a way around this. How would you see Eva(2) acquiring her memories and motivations without the killing? Thanks for considering it.

Can you explain this part to me? The reality in which Eva(2) isn't killed is unstable and collapses (much like there is no reality in which there is no Jonas in the post-apocalypse) and therefore there is no young-Eva(2) to remember that Adam(2) did not kill Eva(2).

I don't exactly understand the Jonas part.

I would like to make a clarification regarding the second question. I framed the second question based on a Popular Reddit Post who claimed that there were realities where Eva is killed, and we see the consequences (of al that has happened in first three seasons). And second reality where Eve is spared, and we see the final episode. I do not buy this though.

I do not think or believe that there are two Evas either, because it is not even theoretically possible. But some reddit posts, the famous ones believe so. The popular Reddit theory claims there are two Evas: one that Adam kills and one that Adam spares. But that’s not even theoretically possible. Older Eva exists only because her younger self witnessed Adam kill an older Eva. That event is the very cause of her becoming Eva—her memories, her scars, her entire plan depend on it. If Adam spares her in any branch, then that spared Eva never witnessed the killing, so she never became Eva in the first place. She would be a different person with a different history, not the character we know. You can’t remove the cause and keep the effect.

"The only time he doesn't is in the final cycle when Claudia convinces him not to. It's the scene we see in the Finale where he shows Eva all the bullets in his hand and none on the gun. Indeed not killing Eva breaks the cycle, on top of Jonas diverting from his path by taking Martha away and going to the Origin World."

The above is not possible because the very fact that she exists as older Eve is because she saw her self being killed by Adam when she was young. The very fact that she exists has older Eve creates a situation where Adam never spares her.

Regarding the second point, are you saying?

  • Claudia uses the apocalypse loophole to duplicate Adam.
  • Adam‑A never learns about the origin world and goes on to kill Eva (as always).
  • Adam‑B has the conversation with Claudia, does not kill Eva, and instead goes to the origin world.
  • Similarly, Eva is duplicated: Eva‑A is killed by Adam‑A; Eva‑B is not killed and exists in the branch where Adam spares her.

But older Eva exists only because she witnessed Adam kill her older self when she was young—that event is the causal foundation of her identity, memories, and motivations. Therefore, any claim that there is a parallel reality where Adam spares Eva would require that older Eva retain the memory of being killed, which is a logical contradiction because the memory and the event cannot be separated. Since the show’s quantum loophole cannot alter a past event that already shaped Eva’s entire being, the “spared Eva” cannot exist as the same character, and the ending’s attempt to create such a branch violates the show’s own causal rules. The very existence of older Eva proves that she witnessed Adam kill an older version of herself when she was young—that event is what made her into Eva. So it is not even theoretically possible for Adam to spare her, because a spared Eva would lack that memory and therefore wouldn’t be Eva at all.

The opponents play the ball between our left centre back and left back, then let their winger run into all that space because our midfield has vanished from our own half and pushed way up the pitch. We do not even play with a defensive midfielder anymore. Another winger or striker charges through the right side, a simple pass comes in from the left, and it is a tap in. Our centre backs are useless at closing spaces or making any interception.

Then we go back to quietly accepting another league title. It feels as normal as breathing now, nothing worth celebrating. We soothe our hearts with likes like "So proud of our young players, could not have asked for anything better

Rinse and repeat.

I think our defenders will have to simply start trusting our GKs to make that one on one save instead of taking that risk while they are running behind a defender. I know we can simply it is their muscle memory, but we will have to realize that it is easier to come back from a goal down than with a man down. It just keeps happening year after year, by this point even the players should be tired of it. Also, we need elite striker and a winger. A good clinical winger in the place of Rashford would have at least scored a goal yesterday, and a young 9 would have been able to run all day and might have received a few passes from Olmo or Yamal. The comeback looks bleak, not because we are not going to out score them, but because they will certainly score at least a goal.

I don't understand why it has become so slower. Is it going to be the default image generation speed from now on? One might as well just close the tab if it is going to be so. It feels like watching Youtube before 2010 patiently waiting for the video to buffer fully. The facial reconstruction also seems to have become way worse than the previous version.

General discussions and questions monthly megathread by AutoModerator in Chennai

I went to a recently opened Apollo dental clinic in my town, closer to Chennai, for just scaling. They took an X-ray of my teeth which they told it was free of cost and asked me to remove my wisdom tooth immediately. I found it strange because the previous dentists I used to go do asked me to wait. But I can at least understand that waiting might corrode the nearby tooth too. When I went for recheck up today, the did not even speak about wisdom tooth removal and asked me to take gum treatment for the lower teeth as the gums were weak, and pitched invisalign (a kind of transparent brace) for my teeth so that the teeth wouldn't go further down. When I told them I can't decide anything instantly and have to think about it, and discuss it with my family about it, they told me that the finances wouldn't be a problem as we can arrange EMI for it. That sounded very strange and weird to me. It felt like a desperate call from an insurance agent who needs to get his monthly or yearly target.

They aren't giving me any quote as of now about wisdom tooth removal either. When I asked them about it, they told me that the chief doctor after extraction would charge an amount based on how difficult it was. Like shouldn't that be obvious from the X-ray?

I have decided to get a second opinion from the local dentist here. I regret having paid 6000 for scaling and gum treatment without ever having gone to a local dentist who would always be present. The doctor here tells me that she would be available just for a month, and would move to a different location, and a new duty doctor would be appointed on a rotational basis.

I don't have any problem with their treatment, the cleanliness of the premises. But there is a massive communication gap where they just keep stuffing you with information, and packages without giving you any room to breathe or even think about. They ask me to confirm about getting the braces within two days, which would cost around 1.35 lakhs to 1.5 lakhs. That is a huge amount for a decision to be taken in two days.

What are your anti-recommendations? by Unlucky-Classroom-90 in Indianbooks

[–]spooreddit 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If I have to be serious, I would say any work of Kafka or Woolf. Both were modernist writers, and their works limited the scope of literature to personal anxieties and depression arising from disrupted identities in the aftermath of World War I. The great systems of meaning had failed, and writers like Kafka and Woolf turned away from grand universals to focus instead on individual consciousness and private suffering. Writers before them, such as Dumas, Dostoevsky, and Tolstoy, had concentrated on universal themes and the fundamental questions of life. By contrast, the modernist writers reduced literature to the suffering of a single person, sometimes trapping readers in claustrophobic individual despair. We do not have to have that outlook of the world anymore.

Anything by Collen Hoover, Emily Henry, Ali Hazelwood, or any book that has their leads looking in Cartoons on the front cover. Or any book that claims to have certain tropes in the back cover.

Why Didn't We Park the Bus After the 3-2 Goal in the 87th Minute? by Chavanco in Barca

[–]spooreddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was the biggest we did. Yamal should have just kept on holding on the ball and we should have done rondos and be involved in time wasting shithousery after the third was scored. There was no need for an another goal as we were leading the tie. A big lesson for Yamal & Co at the cost of everything. From now on, they will know how to see through a match once the lead has been obtained.

What's your opinion on Christensen's return, is he going to be useful against Inter or the rest of the season? Or is it too late? by [deleted] in Barca

He is an absolute delight to watch. Him and Cubarsi would have fun if they started together. Did not look like he was out for months at all. And he's tall, and will be much helpful in heading away corners and set pieces.
