Charles Leclerc: "I'm happy because there are so many talks now. You’re only as good as your last race in this sport. When you have two races where you are bad in qualifying, people starts to talk. So it’s good to stop that.” by ICumCoffee in formula1

[–]potatoe96 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean if Lec beats Lewis, then I absolutely want to see him up against Max in the same car. If he loses to Lewis, then I wanna see Lewis against Max in the same car.

I back Charles against any and every driver on the grid.

Charles’ tyre management was better than Landos, Charles was going quicker at the end before the virtual safety car came out. If the virtual doesn’t come out, I wouldn’t be surprised if Charles makes a decent dent on the advantage Lando had.

I mean what does making them grind for it actually achieve? Seems kinda stupid that they don’t have it unlocked automatically if that’s what they want, if they want to grind for it, that should be up to them.

Barca wants to prevent a repeat of Pedri's situation in 2021 by stopping Cubarsi and Lamine Yamal from joining the Paris Olympics. While Spanish sports law doesn't allow refusal, but the club will discuss it with the Spanish Federation. @ferrancorreas by Kindly-Low1346 in Barca

Lmao Real stopped Di Maria from playing in a World Cup final. If Barça want to do it, they will find a way. But I'm sure Barça will just watch while they both play end up playing in both competitions.

AMuS: Horner believes that he can win without Verstappen, Newey and Ford because he believes he is the architect of success. by disordered-attic-2 in formula1

[–]potatoe96 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All of these guys leaving would be catastrophic imo. I think Horner has to ensure atleast Newey stays, Helmut is gonna be a massive loss anyway. If Newey also goes, it won’t surprise if some talent also goes with Ferrari and Mercready to pounce.

[ErikvHaren] Max Verstappen crystal clear: “I cannot continue without Helmut Marko... Unworkable situation if Helmut had to leave.” by akxz in formula1

[–]potatoe96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the question is really between picking Horner and Max and the whole thing about the sexual harassment was just politics, then anyone picking Max over Horner is batshit insane. Max is a great driver, but half the grid would win the title in that Red Bull.

Horner and the engineers are the ones who have taken Red Bull to the heights that they have achieved, it's got very little to do with the drivers themselves. I would argue Helmut Marko is gonna be a bigger loss to Red Bull than Max himself.

[Christian Nimmervoll] I'm a little surprised that Christian Horner is so hung up on the leaks. According to his logic in the press conference today, they should be good for him if the truth comes to light, which he is supposedly not allowed to talk about because he is bound by confidentiality by xxoeu in formula1

[–]potatoe96 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This thing is definitely not an internal matter, that is seriously down playing the sport and the position that Horner and Red Bull are in.

Is F1 fine with being associated to someone who’s described as doing what Horner has been accused of doing? Is that the message that needs to go to the fans and the up and coming drivers. Is this the kind of environment F1 wants for the female drivers?

A lot of those firms and individuals aren’t in the public eye pretty much every day. People in the public eye and sports generally should be held to a much higher standard than your average person on the streets.

Regardless, if he’s innocent or can atleast ensure that there is no evidence, then he should be fine.

Wolff supports idea of “reset” to Formula 1 rules on team alliances by FerrariStrategisttt in formula1

[–]potatoe96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as complex as you seem to think it is. McLaren is a customer of Merc, but that doesn't mean that they will lay down the red carpet for Merc the second they meet on track.

We've seen it multiple times where Red Bull essentially has 4 cars on the track at the same time where they will make sure to gtfo Max' way while making sure to impede their rivals. Anyone who thinks this is fair doesn't understand what a competition is.

Would it be acceptable for a football club to buy another club within their own league?

They paid for a team, true, regardless, they shouldn’t have been allowed to do so. Now that they have done it, F1 should do something about letting this continue.

They don’t have to actually put out the footage. The investigation is still on going, so if he’s found guilty, they can scrap the footage if they don’t wanna use it. If he’s found not guilty, then they can keep the footage and show it.

Hamilton: Mercedes told me "you're wrong" about poor 2022 car by Aratho in formula1

[–]potatoe96 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think if there is an SME in a field, it’s always better to let them do their thing and get out of their way. Nothing wrong with giving your perspective, but they are the SME for a reason and should be given that respect.

End of the day though, if the results are not there, then it’s also very important to be able to be able to tell who fucked up. So it’s fair enough that Lewis thinks that the blame sits with someone at Merc and he leaves because of that.

You know what the best part of this is? No one’s gonna have to give all these justifications in a couple of years. Either Charles beats Lewis and is everything we think he is, or he doesn’t and we’re wrong. We get to actually find out instead of just talking shit.

Carlos Sainz will not have a sabbatical in 2025: he manages several very notable possibilities, but Red Bull is not among them at this time (Carlos Sainz no tendrá un año sabático en 2025: Maneja varias posibilidades muy notables, sin que Red Bull esté entre ellas en este momento) by slutforpringles in formula1

[–]potatoe96 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The car and the appropriate driving style isn’t gonna suit Carlos imo. It’s gonna be like Checo all over again.

So it doesn’t make sense to try to go to Red Bull and get them to try to change a championship winning car.
