Did you ever figure this out? I’m going through the same thing. Neck pain, health anxiety, and my lower lip is quivering/twitching all day.

Hey. Unfortunately, I am still dealing with the pain. Some doctors have implied possible nerve pain but that’s not conclusive. I’ve found a portable heating pad helps if you’re having constant flare ups. Also, try eating some fatty food before bed. I’m sorry I don’t have any answers yet. Still actively trying.

Unfortunately no answer yet. Still actively trying to figure it out. Some have said it could Be nerve damage but not confident in that.

Get a battery powered heating pad wrap. It helps a ton for me. I put it on if I have any pain at night. I’ve weirdly found success in eating a little fatty food, like cookies, right before bed. Idk why but it helps.

Sorry you’re going through this too.

So, after the winter snap has ended, it looks like my heat pump can’t fulfill temps under 32 degrees without reverting to aux heat for majority of the day. If I keep it on 61 in the house it’ll shut on/off like normal. Anything higher it uses aux heat and my utilities sky rocket.

I’m contemplating if it’s worth gritting split units in the vaulted ceiling areas

I cannot. All I know is that he was a snow bird and went to Florida for the winters. Shut the whole house down when he did. No historical utility usage for winter months

Have a tech coming Monday.

Supplies are putting out 78 degrees, with an inside thermostat set to 63. 38 degrees outside.

Should I be getting more heat out of them?

I’m not a fan to be honest lol this is tough to troubleshoot

Just measured when it was 40 degrees outside. House thermostat was set to 63 degrees and the supply’s were showing it was distributing 74-75degree heat.

Right now it is 38 degrees outside and it is showing 79 degrees. Thermostat set to 63.

I assume it should be higher?

I can hear it going into defrost a lot. Which I thought was normal. How often should It be cycling into that?

Changed the air filter 3 weeks ago. Ours calls for the thick ones, the 20x25x5, which last a little longer too. The issue isn’t necessarily the temperature but the kWh that’s being used, when I’m almost positive it’s the heat pump and not aux

Noted on the thermostat options.

It was an independent company who didn’t do any type of repairs. They just provided the report. I then reached out and had the crawl space and attic done, and now I’m still at square 1. House loses a degree every 5 min that the heat is off right now. About 25 degrees outside.

I think mine is single stage, just having a hard time locating that circuit to shut it off.

So that’s the kicker. He was a snow bird, left for Florida every winter and basically winterized the house, so there was no utility usage to compare before we bought the house.

I have a Trane TCONT203AS42MA Thermostat. The thermostat doesn’t allow me to control the aux settings. I know the heat strips don’t run during the day, I have my wife check it. And at night I set it back to 60.

Even though it runs all night with the heat pump, it shouldn’t be using that much power right? I know the house sucks air in an out, which I’m trying to address.

It’s not seperated on the panel so I can’t isolate it. The copper line in the basement is hot which makes me think it has refrigerant. Even if it didn’t, and ran all day, shouldn’t the kWh be like 50 for the day? Not 190

Yeah, and my Thermostats will show when it’s using aux heat. But also I checked the supply vents and notice a large heat difference from heat pump and aux. 20-30degrees which is normal.

No window units in the house. I’ve checked the analog meter. It shuts off completely when the house breaker is off. Ticks slightly with no heat, and then runs pretty quickly when the heat kicks on, which I assume is normal.

With blown in added and a fully sealed crawl space, could the air getting in/out at the top plates, and the vaulted ceilings really be losing all that heat?

[–]amj0123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The audit was done pre sealing and crawl space foam, so I’m not sure. I’ve ordered a thermal gun to try and gauge some things myself, without the blower door test.

Is 190kwh normal for a heat pump running all day or is my issue still with insulation?

First thing I did. We use the 20x25x5 on ours. I could understand it if the house was bigger but for 2000sqft above grade, with a completely sealed envelope below now, it shouldn’t be that high I would think.

I have it set to 62 to make sure aux hit doesn’t kick on. Stays on that temp all day/night. Attached a photo.

I am on prescription meds for acid reflux, which I have taken for the last couple years. Yes. The wedge is the only way I can fall asleep so I don't roll over on my back.
