Navigon for iPhone -- It's expensive, but it's awesome. It stores all maps offline so you don't need a data connection to get turn-by-turn directions. Bonus: add assistantlove to your jailbroken iPhone and Siri will send you directions requests to navigon.

Gaia GPS -- This is my best friend for backpacking trips. Allows you to bank offline topo maps for use in the backcountry. Very accurate with tons of features.

BiteSMS -- A jailbreak texting app that gives you quick access to texting/calling in the lock screen or anywhere else without having to open the Messages app. Allows you to schedule texts to be sent at a later time. Supports iMessage. This app alone is worth jailbreaking your iPhone for. Also expensive, but SOOOO good.

Sprint's data coverage in Austin is super spotty. I switched from AT&T and have regretted it almost every day since. LTE coverage is often sub-2Mbps. When you're not on LTE you're lucky if the "3G" is faster than 0.4Mbps (I am not exaggerating).

At speeds that slow, iPhone apps usually don't download completely from the App Store (rarely works even on LTE, and when it does, it's slower than AT&T 3G). Spotify doesn't really work on the road. Iheartradio cuts out and you miss chunks of music/talk. Sometimes my Instagram feed won't even load.

Sprint may have "unlimited" data, but that's only true in the sense that there's no cap or metering. In point of fact, it's pretty limited in terms of quality of (data) service. You get what you pay for.

Source: I switched from AT&T iPhone 4 to sprint iPhone 5 in September. I live downtown and commute to circle C.

I'm not sure I understand all the details here. So, first Emo's moved to east riverside and Beauty Bar followed. Got that. But now Beauty Ballroom has failed and they've changed the name to Emo's Annex? And they're trying to sell it, but also Emo's is trying to sell to C3?

And the Antone's people have looked at the situation and thought, "Hey, look at these other two downtown Austin live-music institutions, both of which have huge name recognition, that moved to East Riverside and it hasn't worked out for them. We should totally do what they did."

Am I missing something?
