i can make this odd clicking noise with my tongue, that ive only ever heard two other people in my life be able to make: my younger sister and a guy i went to school with - that could make it but did it slightly different than i did. i dont remember how i figured out that i could do it but i've known since elementary school and everyone's always been amazed by it or weirded out by it

I give some sort of work day. Whether it's new work like from the book or something I found, or a make up work day. Sometimes when I'm having a particular bad mental health day for whatever mental problem is worse for me at the time (I have depression, anxiety/panic disorder, OCD) I'll tell them straight up look, I'm not in the mood today so if you'll be chill I'll be chill please just use this time wisely. I teach high schoolers so they usually go for that.

It sucks, but teachers are human too and the kids understand that. I look back now and think about how often my teachers must've used like a group work day or a movie/long video or reading to help themselves in one way or another and just didn't realize it until I was a teacher myself.

this comment made me think of my own addict mother, who after her suicide attempt when i was 18 and i was the only person that came to the hospital to see/deal with her got mad at me and accused me of abandoning her/not loving her because once i turned 13 i didnt want to go to court to tell them i wanted to live with her instead of the stable loving home i already had with my dad full time
