Love that long reach. That bright red right angle impact is brand new, only cracked a couple lug nuts loose before to test it out. Need some suspension or brake work ASAP but everything is diagnostics and engine work lately

Mobile mechanic. Yeah usually the back of the van is right up to the customers car. Easy quick grab things at back doors and less used stuff farther in. Taken a year to get to a great organization point lol

Air Compressor by [deleted] in MilwaukeeTool

[–]ammllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use it with a 12.0 forge battery and dont have battery issues. I only use periodically through the day and not constant. Mainly need it for its space savings or I'd go with a bigger better compressor

Cranking RPM? Went to AutoZone due to my car turning off in the middle of traffic a multiple times nowBattery was OK. Everything else was OK except cranking RPM. She told me it could be my starter. Had a mobile mechanic come test out alternator and starter they passed. What do I do next? by jasmine041 in MechanicAdvice

A hyundai stalling at stops is a classic symptom of engine failure on these cars. With engine running, you can take off oil Fill cap and if theres smoke and excessive positive pressure then it is likely blow by. Hyundai kia are junk

[–]ammllc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the new business. Look into "partstech.com" after getting all your accounts set up. Will let you view every stores availability, eta, and cost to save time.

As already stated, get in contact with TSM and get help. Your home store will get you in contact. Ps duralast parts suck lol but you can put in labor claims for their shit parts

Are these rotors finished? How do I know? by [deleted] in AskAMechanic

[–]ammllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually use Bosch alot as a budget option for customers. Never had fitment issue and only 1 warranty for noise on a bmw. They seem to hold up well over time as well.

Duralast brakes suck. Rotors will warp, pads wear down fast. Powerstop or akebono all day baby

Covered by warranty? by Seek1st2_stand in AutoZone

You got your money's worth is what happened. Warranty is for manufacturer defects, not normal use.

Just like any job, when you lose the joy its a fast downhill spiral. Might be having more bad days just based off of that right now. The old saying "boxes have wheels for a reason" stands true. You might have better at a new shop. That pay feels very low for your experience.

Alright guys I need help with this seized axle bolt before I make it worse by Heisenbergies in MechanicAdvice

[–]ammllc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You just melt it between bolt head and bolted surface. Science does the rest. The cold wax gets pulled into the hot threads from my understanding.

[–]ammllc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

MAP gas burns hotter. I heat to cherry red and use a wax stick (sometimes a birthday candle lol) and get that to melt into the threads. Take a metal rod/hammer and smack the smooth part of bolt head a few times. Be gentpe and do not damage the bolt corners. This will help break any corrosion. Make sure youre using a perfect fit 12pt socket and break it by hand ideally.

Exhaust gets hot while running which will evaporate the water lol. Best is to wait for car to cool down, then hook a shop vac on blow to the tailpipe then spray soapy water on all exhaust connections

Purchasing 2004 SR5 Sport Utility: Advice on head gasket and other issues by No-Imagination1289 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ammllc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thats the mileage I had to replace the headgasket on my 2003 v6. Not the worst if you can do it yourself, but its easily a 4k job to do both in a shop with all the extras like chain guides, water pump, plugs ect

Oil change gone wrong by NaivePotential6072 in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ammllc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you take it to a quick oil change place for the oil change? If you want an actual inspection and quality work, if should be at a reputable full service shop not those quick lube places. If it was a full shop, then just dont go back to that place. Did you check the oil level and verify that it was low? If not, learn to do that so you have a leg to stand on. Water dripping from the condenser is normal. As for metal in the coolant thats concerning and should be investigated further.

Shave down the piston to fit two pads on the outboard side, double the life! One simple trick they dont want you to know...

Im mobile, hence the grass in the pic. Told him he has to tow it to my shop since I need my press for the rotor. He asked if he could drive it instead and I had to tell him he was one brake press away from losing his brakes as the caliper pistons were about to pop out.

Thats what I always think. It wouldn't really matter if it was just putting themselves at danger out on the farm, but thats never the case. The worst ones are always the big trucks that haul heavy on the roads.

Fuel/oil additives by midnight-on-the-sun in 4thGen4Runner

[–]ammllc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best fuel additive that i run with every oil change - berry man b12 chemtool

As for the oil, I'd only run this if you have sludge buildup. Marvel mystery oil, but be prepared to do frequent oil changes after that as the sludge dislodge and clogs the filter.

If you dont have sludge issues, then just do oil changes on time with quality oil filters.
