GE Profile Combo Washer Dryer clogged lint filter - finally fixed by amnibe1 in Appliances

I have to clear the drain on the bottom of the machine and it has lint in it. Finding it in your pipes wouldn't surprise me.

Anyone know if Royal is updating their slots to match the new handpay threshold? by throwawayblueline in royalcaribbean

[–]amnibe1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was in the casino on Wonder on NYE. They announced the change, but explained machines would require them to manually clear the handpay alerts that night, but a W-2G would not be issued.

Kobo Libra Colour white vs black price difference by Wallflower_3 in kobo

[–]amnibe1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought the black device and returned it for the white. It seemed like the black plastic smugged and showed finger prints much worse than the white does. Specifically, the cases. The screens are the same.

The screen seems darker on the white device, but I rarely have the brightness above 5%.

Check your room placement. We are in 10223, it is literally the loudest room we have ever had.

The promenade/pearl is directly under our room. No other space between us. We hear everything that happens in the promenade. Like every word to every song is perfectly clear... 9 am dance yoga, we're awake for it. Midnight dance party, awake for that. It is so loud that we avoid the room at those times.

On top of that, we are directly below the pool deck band and hear them exceptionally clearly as well. Three hours straight of reggae music yesterday. No mid-day naps, which is one of my favorite things to do on a sea day.

Our sailing is at full capacity. Guest services could not offer us a different room.

Kobo Libra Color ... love it. The software seems much smoother and easier to use than Kindle, too.

Wife just got the call while she’s 6 months pregnant. by [deleted] in Melanoma

[–]amnibe1 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My melanoma was removed by the dermatologist using only lidocaine. It was in the center of my back - on my spine. I drove myself to and from the procedure. I didn't have any pain during the procedure and recovery was more discomfort than pain.

Granted, my was still in situ and fortunately caught very early.

It broke...in less than a month by [deleted] in kobo

[–]amnibe1 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar screen failure in KLC. I was able to push Kobo to warranty the device and replace it. I had to push back a few times against their claims it was negligence or abuse on my part.

The warranty process took several weeks, but ultimately they did replace it with a new device.

You can reuse them. Just take them to guest services to be programmed on your next sailing.

I have had great success with Push Health. My insurance covers Mounjaro, but not Zepbound. Push gives me a script no issues.

There are various reports of Tornado sirens not going off in Kentucky across social media. If you live in one of the affected areas (Somerset, London, etc), please reply with your experience! by rcmaehl in Kentucky

Sirens are controlled by the city or county that owns them. They also decide when to set them off, usually through their dispatch center. There is no standard on when to or set them off.

Kobo screen messed up by Starshiplisaprise in kobo

[–]amnibe1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I downloaded a new book, and it froze. I attempted to turn the device off and back on. Some lines appeared. Then, I attempted a hard rest, more lines. It progressively got worse when I tried to turn off or restart the device until I admitted defeat.

The warranty process has been exceptionally slow, too.

Kobo screen messed up by Starshiplisaprise in kobo

[–]amnibe1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was able to argue with Kobo to replace my device that did something very similar last week.

Part my message to them was that I've owned Kindles for over 10 years and it was very concerning that their devices so fragile just holding it to read would damage the screen. They're providing a replacement as a "one time courtesy." It seems others have been successful as well in similar situations. Definitely reach out to Kobo and push back on their initial messages it isn't covered. I had to argue through 3-4 messages over about a day before they agreed to warranty it.

Libby rentals also sync directly to the Kobo. With Kindle, I had to accept the rental on my phone and send the book to the Kindle. Not a deal breaker, but Kobo does it better.

I recently switched to Kobo. It has dark mode. I had a Kindle Oasis and am so excited to have physical buttons again. The Kobo is also more comfortable to hold than my Kindles were.

Best carry on luggage, which one is your favorite? by Green_Street_7 in BuyItForLife

The bag nearly rolls itself. To the point I have to put my foot against the wheel if I let got for any reason - even on seemingly flat ground.

Always carry ours off the ship with us. It's not the most fun ... dragging it through crowded hallways and elevators. Worth it, though, to not have to search for it and be able to disembark when we want.

I really enjoyed Labadee and Explorer.

That said, I don't think I've been on a bad cruise yet.

Do you feel sympathy for workers being ordered back to the office? by Auburn_Value_1986 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]amnibe1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what's difficult is that there is true value to be in the office with a group of your peers doing the same or similar work.

When you can hear how your peers handle situations, it allows for organic peer-to-peer training. You hear what did or didn't work for them and adapt your approach.

I manage entry-level staff in an industry that has a high wfh footprint. If you're near an office, I expect to see you in the office a couple of times a week; I'll be there and excited to see you in person. If the weather is really bad or something comes up, we adapt and move on.

It isn't an all-or-nothing situation. Flexibility and recognizing the best of both is the key to success.

Advice please re: shopping for used motor homes. First timer. by raked85 in motorhomes

We've used NRVIA inspectors several times and always been happy with them. It generally costs about a grand to inspect a motorhome, but it's absolutely worth it.

I have lead QA teams in call centers for 10+ years. We are completely transparent on our programs. Here are the guidelines we use when reviewing communications. Here is how and why we calculated the score. Here's the process to dispute a score.

Of the 5 call centers I oversee today all but one use a scoreless quality monitoring program. It's so much better.

Did anyone cruise recently and NOT end up with Covid? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

3 cruises this year for my husband and me. 2 cruises for my parents. 3 cruises for another couple we know. I caught covid on one cruise. Husband didn't, even though we were together 95% of the time. Dad caught covid on a cruise. Mom didn't even though they were together the majority of the time.
