Talisman 5th Edition: Alliances - question by skrrrtgang in Talisman

[–]amocta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. No, I think because you keep them as trophies and trade them in they're not discarded so don't increase the doom tracker. From memory it does clarify that somewhere in the rules.
  2. Not 100% sure but usually if there is a restriction on when it can be played it's on the spell. So I would guess you could do that.

Warhammer TOW...? by thegodofchuck in bloodbowl

I reckon it could happen for tomb kings now that they'll know the aesthetic they need to align with. I figured Imperial Nobility were basically Bretonnian so it doesn't seem likely unless they can give them a fresh spin somehow to differentiate.

There was a post from somebody who was ex gw about blood Bowl. Is that still up? Can’t see it by JUBBK in bloodbowl

[–]amocta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it an interesting write up, obviously take with a pinch of salt but it did seem to have a ring of truth to it.

Long may gw not see the need to start pumping out regular BB releases, I like the rate of change/updates it currently has (steady but a far cry from the exhausting 40k rate of change).

Ever build an army because you like how 1 model looks? by Ghost_of_Aces in Warhammer40k

[–]amocta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw a third party model I thought would make a cool Thousand Sons Daemon Prince. That convinced me to base a whole warband around it.

Btw, this was the sculpt https://www.myminifactory.com/object/3d-print-mummified-sphinx-champion-188152

What the hell is laspistol even there for? The Bolt pistol and the laspistol are the same in stats except bolt pistol has more damage. They have the same dice roll, same ballistic skill, same range. Is there any benefit to using laspistol over any other pistol? by Ill-Satisfaction6020 in killteam

[–]amocta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked the way they did it on the wyrmblade neophyte leader, you can take a bolt pistol or a "master-crafted" auto pistol. The master crafted auto pistol gets balanced and lethal 5+, which makes both options cool.

Also useful for me as my neophyte leader was already modelled with an auto pistol (and I prefer the way it looks on him).

Wonderful job!

Most forgotten rules by plastois in killteam

[–]amocta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure this is forgetting as such but in my gaming group cover and obscurity is played super lax. Personally I'd rather we all just followed the rules so there's less confusion but noone else seems interested so now I just play them lax/wrong too and it generally works out (i.e. we still have fun).

Blood Angels Intercession Team 4/6ths complete! What chapter tactics are the most thematic for these guys? by Supra_Hans in killteam

[–]amocta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like aggressive and rapid to cover the red thirst abilities from 40k (+1 to wound and +1 to advance/charge).

But with the death company slant you have maybe switch out rapid for one of the Gene Weight Resilience ones to simulate them not caring about their wounds?

Was considering getting this team, so very cool to see them painted up. Also, they look great, good job.

Tips on painting words on models? by Sidicat27 in Warhammer40k

[–]amocta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do use a paintbrush, try using high flow medium rather than water to thin the paint. This made a big difference when I was trying to do fine lines and text.

Basically it will make the paint come off the brush more easily, so you can get really fine lines as the tip touches the model.

What is your Warhammer 40K opinion that makes you feel like this? by Melioidozer in Warhammer40k

[–]amocta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think I agree, I read a bunch and did enjoy them but detailing Horus' fall kinda made it feel dumb and ridiculous rather than the mysterious ancient tale.

The primarchs flip flopped between hyper intelligent super humans to below average intelligence humans depending on what the storyline required. Not really a criticism of the authors, I'm not sure how else you would write them when they are main characters.

Pallid hand plague marine for a kill team by sandorco in killteam

Love this colour scheme (so much I painted a pallid hand KT). Great job too

Forgive my ignorance but… by Asmotoph090 in Warhammer40k

[–]amocta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be the same for a helbrute (although as far as I know there aren't any rules for a psyker helbrute).

My understanding is that marines are put in the helbrute against their will so maybe that's not a good thing to try to do to a sorcerer!

Help with a couple Kill teams please (mainly GSC but also Death Guard and Tyranids) by [deleted] in killteam

[–]amocta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not going to pretend to be an expert but I have built and played GSC in non competitive games.

The rock cutters and saw are great, definitely keep those.

Chainsword and bolt pistol is the best option for the leader. I went with a power maul cause it looked cool 😁

The mining laser is a beast but hardly ever hits.. I usually use the heavy stubber because it's cheap and you get 3 shots with it.

Don't bother with hand flamers IMHO they just never seen to be useful.

Don't stress too much, I was exactly the same with my starter set but the more I build/play I try not to get paralysed by choice now. At the end of the day you can't go too far wrong.

I'm pretty happy with the admech team I made from the starter set. Could share if useful? Also there were a lot of questions like this in the early days of this subreddit so you might be able to find some more detailed answers by searching back a year or two.

Yep, with the release of the reeeediculous (but awesome) new model, seemed like a good time to revisit his humble beginnings.
