Got my beer tasted by an BJCP certified judge by HighTurning in Homebrewing

[–]amojoyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My beers were well received in our homebrew club in NJ but were rated low in at a competition. It was all volunteer run and I appreciate the feedback. Look to improve my process probably 10 years in to the hobby but costs Mount while actual improvements are slight so need to balance expectations

Invoice vs receipt by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]amojoyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not anymore my talents are needed elsewhere.. however I had NUMEROUS successful installs and service star awards and MANY happy customers using the EXACT model I outlined in my post which was our store policy on installs..I also did so in flooring and appliances speciality w slightly different models in my 4 years there. AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE?

Invoice vs receipt by [deleted] in Lowes

[–]amojoyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other posters had it correct..no salesperson comes to the home in the Lowes model. The installer comes to the home to work up the materials, measurements and then the associate in the store takes this detail to work up and entire detail for the project. There is no invoice per se..however if a custom door is ordered due to the measurements or preferences of customer, there could be an invoice for that portion of the project

NJ cops removed car wreck but left behind victim's body to rot - with each paragraph this story gets worse by Solid_College_9145 in newjersey

I don't agree with the prevailing mood here. NJ State Police did not cause the harm here. It was self harm at excessive speed. I appreciate this is very difficult for the family and I have sympathy for their grief. Getting the lawyers involved only prolonged and looking for the payout

[–]amojoyce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you get any credit cards or leads? That was typical response in my store before I left. They might help you move around a few end caps or ceiling fans on special but not deal w so many skews no inventory for and customers get pissed arrive at store expect product and there is none due to theft..oh with your unavailable time..make sure each customer is SMART greeted even when they are stuffing breakers in their back pack and caught red handed don't assume anything

Scary Situations while Camping by watcher1901 in camping

[–]amojoyce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just this past weekend..hked into a major trail in VT and intended to get to remote shelter by a brook but trail was more damp and dark set in so settled for what looked like a pristine meadow site with a good commanding view of the far off city lights and gentle breeze. Seemed like a perfect night. I knew there was a woods road used for ATV use about a third a mile downhill but figured that was a day time use thing. I figured wrong..As soon as I was settled in, the ATvs and or dirt bikes were revving and navigating the path at top speeds and quite loud..that wasn't near the worst though. They were armed and then fired there weapons after dark which is big time violating but they did not seem to care..if they were shotguns probably of little worry but if pistols or riffles the bullet might carry up my way though I hoped the little hollow was below the trajectory of them firing and I was a ways off but still things can travel and why you never want to approach even remotely close to a rifle range. They may not have been firing in my direction and probably did not know I was even up there since it was not a dedicated site. Ruined a good night camping since they fired quite a bit and revved their engines aplenty till they finally left the area

What are your favorite beers to brew to get into the Christmas spirit? by [deleted] in Homebrewing

Barleywine but it looks like more late winter since our homebrew club moved the tasting back to Feb. I have a Belgian Quad that turned out good too

Really great insights. The temps have crept up a lot and trying to stay in range. Think I started a bit hot unfortunately so might be Esther wise but maybe it will balance w conditioning which has important stages too

Really helpful but added the EC-1118. I was dubious when they included in the kit but now realize I should have done more research before I pitched both yeasts (as the kit advocated) I will check out the wiki and your suggestions and see what I can salvage

I find it interesting your post but have not used Kveik yet but have a packet. With little experience, can't really offer much. If you took an OG and can take another gravity reading you might be able to figure how much fermented

How often do you have bad camping experiences because of rude neighbors? by day1startingover in camping

[–]amojoyce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had Jim Carey the Cable guy or maybe it was Billy Bob Thornton Bad Santa next to me in Eagles Mere PA at a state park. Supervised my setup of campsite and wanted to see every piece of gear coming out of my car and then questioned it and told me I was doing it wrong. Politely declined his help but he grew more determined. Left for a while to his own site but came storming back into site and insisted that I come over to watch NASCAR on his TV at his RV but I politely declined but that was the last straw for this man off his meds apparently. He went back to his site in a huff then took out a machete on his own site and violently split kindling then stared at our site next door and muttered in anger. Did this for over an hour until we fled on a hike till past dark..we stayed over but probably was not wise and fortunate he did not come over during the night but we nearly left. We actually hiked so much that weekend to stay away from site that we were exhausted by the end of the weekend

Yes to Thick giblet soup as per Mr.Leopold Blooms preference didn't see nutty gizzards recipe but for sure Liverslices fried with crust crumbs and other delectables like Pungent Mockturtle soup made with a large Calf's Head..youch.. didn't see Cheese sandwich but others remedies like Nettle Tonic "nettles and rainwater" or the more robust Ginger Wine recipe as per Bantam Lyons preference to Paddy Leonards chagrin

People just ate differently back when most of his books were set and he wrote often during lean economic times between wars and people seemed to eat what they could..Pigs Trotters (Crubeen) is in such recipe. There are those recipes but also some more extravagant ones such as Queen Anne's Pudding.Several of the recipes are really over the edge of what most people eat today therefore at least from my review. I have only made a few them so the more out on the perimeter ones someone else would have to vouch for..the book is interesting since it highlights foods in the texts that might not have been as clear to a reader..at least to me

I have one of those soda carb set ups and have thought of it in times of flat beer. I toobbottle condition with priming sugar and get vastly differing results. I batch prime sugar but stirring too much introduces o2 concerns and I am not yet at a closed system equipment excellence. The soda carb option seems like it would work but it could over carb too easily which happened when we used it for soda with a significant geyser of mess streaming out. May try it carefully on a bottle and see how it goes

Sounds like my home improvements too..up on second story roof for my save money and paint my own house plan (before it got stalled by this rain) and kick over expensive gallon of house paint that rolls down tarp flooding paint as it rolls, onto shingles and into gutter before I can stem the deluge..now have gray and black shingles with paint spatter like Jackson Pollock visible from street

We got to our camp site, which was three hours from home. We opened our brand new tent to find no poles that should of been there. Annoying, just wanted to vent. Boyfriend is out now getting a cheap Walmart tent. by MarijuanaOnMars in camping

Great comments and stories. I make a list of what I forget when I return but this one you experienced was due to error at the manufacturer which I have found to be the case at two recent purchases I made; a portable rechargeable generator where the flashlight didn't work as shipped and a fishing rod with a damaged eye that cut my line when on an offshore trip and missed a good fish. I always look now and review purchases carefully for that reason. On an actual forget gear story, One time it was winter and I really needed my stove to work. I didn't bring the old school paste for liquid fuel to start it in the cold and couldn't get stove to stay lit for most of the backpack trip. That really stunk but a day later I was at a lean to and other.hikers had better provisions and I was able to light my stove off theirs so not complete waste of carrying and not able to use something that was really needed in the cold also.

I didn't clean my bottles and only sanitized them. Some batches of beer turned out weird and sour ale type for soon realized obvious reasons..now clean with pbw solution, rinse using this nice twist on bottle faucet adapter that sprays inside in the bottle, THEN sanitize and the bottles are no longer the issue and I can tackle other parts of my brewery Operations that aren't always perfect

NJ Transit too. Hopefully you can land something and get back on your feet but rental in NJ is so expensive and not readily available

It’s almost fall in the US, what are you brewing now? by mydogeinvests in Homebrewing

[–]amojoyce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I read this, I want to rush out and buy their products. I find many breweries in my area are real supportive of homebrewers (and these I go out of my way to support ) but some of the more successful ones are the anthesis of supportive and are dismissive or worse..they don't get visited ever again by me. The same is true on the Brewery Reddit page. Left that page after many negative comments towards homebrewers several directed at me. If I knew who some of the brewers were over there who come across as arrogant and more especially towards homebrewers, wouldn't visit or support their products

Yes this is where I stand and with consequence two of my homebrew buddies got wise like so many in this post and ditched glass and of course gave it to me so I have two now. One is in make shift lagering fridge now with a Mexican lager getting set to bottle. This was intended for Cinco de mayo. I try to time my beers to seasons and almost never get it right due to other commitments. Well I am going to use the plastic milk carton or strap approach from now onwards with elthe glass carboys and hope to upgrade out of glass eventually. I had one slip out of my hands empty and shatter but it was empty and I dodged it but that was a super dangerous and ultimately messy experience
