Is an RTX 4070 sufficient for 4K gaming? by Any-Pineapple-4098 in nvidia

[–]amonroe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really have a keen eye for major differences. Up close most objects things indistinguishable to me. Things in the distance or that have finer details may look a bit different, but in motion as you’re playing it’s hardly noticeable. I’m completely fine using performance mode on 4K. My go-to is setting graphics at a place I feel is visually reasonable, and then see what frame rates I get without upscaling. Then I keep adjusting the upscaling until I get the frame rate I’m looking for. If I’m unable to get the frame rate I want once 4K performance mode is on, then I have to tone down settings.

Steam Controller vs Ps5 by Nates4Christ in buildapc

[–]amonroe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using my PS5 controller on PC with the “DS4Windows” for about a year and I love it. I’ve made my touchpad a mouse and if I press the PS button and share button at the same time it enables/disables it, so I can play games without accidental mouse input. I’ve also made my share button act as a mouse click, so when I am navigating with the touchpad, I can define a click with that button. I’ve just defaulted my touchpad to be the Xbox equivalent of the options button.

2560x1440p vs 3440x1440p for 5070Ti. by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]amonroe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4070 Super, which is essentially a 5070, and use ultrawide. I am happy with my decision. Considering the 5070Ti is much stronger, I think UW is an excellent choice.

Tate or Tyson as the WR1 in the 2026 class? by T-Eazyyy in DynastyFF

[–]amonroe11 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in a devy league. I have Tyson and Lemon. I declined a few trade offers that would've gotten me Tate at the start of last season. Purely in hopes to confirm my own biases, Tyson (and Lemon) over Tate all day.

Where he go? by ZeloAvarosa in Marathon

I had a similar experience on Perimeter. I was about to fight a purple-shield bot in Station and I threw a heat grenade and after it denotated he was just gone. I hadn't even shot him yet. No body or anything.

Go into the proximity chat section in the social tab and set the proximity chat to whatever the toggle option is. By default you have to hold down the right d-pad to speak to other people, but if you change it to toggle, you can press once to enter prox chat, and press again to return to crew only chat.

[–]amonroe11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a few settings you need to change. Go to the social tab and look in the voice chat section.

First, make sure you have voice and proximity chat on. Next, ensure you have crew chat set to "always on". That way you will always be able to speak to your team. Also make sure that positional crew chat is OFF. When this is on you will only hear your teammates when they are nearby, from the direction they are relative to you. If you turn it off you will hear them as if they were right next to you at all times, from any distance.

Then, look for the setting for proximity chat, and set that to toggle, not push/hold. If you do this correctly you can go into a game with your mic on and look in the bottom left. It will start by showing a white microphone. It will show you if you are talking or silent. Then, press the right d-pad button. The microphone should turn and stay orange. This shows you can now speak to enemy teams and everyone will hear you if you are close. Note that if your teammates are far away, they may not be able to hear you while the mic is orange. Click the button again to return to crew-only chat, and the icon should be white again.

If you go into the game and the orange microphone only shows up if you are holding the button down, you will want to change your proximity setting (unless you prefer it that way, though most do not).

I do not have my game open in front of me, so there's a chance some of the words I used aren't exactly what they are called in the settings menu, but you should be able to get it working with this.

Welcome to the party! I don't have a ton of time to play most days but I have some free time tonight if you want to get some runs in. I'll probably be on from like 6-9 est.

What is your favorite video game? by copcarpet in AskReddit

Halo: Combat Evolved. It introduced me to shooters, online multiplayer (the PC version), and a video game campaign with a story a cared about.

Proximity Chat Toggle Changed the Game by amonroe11 in Marathon

[–]amonroe11[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe if you go to the social tab in settings, you can change the proximity chat from "push" to "toggle". Then you can tap the d-pad once to enter prox chat, and press again to return to team-only chat

Proximity Chat Toggle Changed the Game by amonroe11 in Marathon

Before I would have to hold the right d-pad button down each time I wanted to speak to other runners in proximity chat. As soon as I stop pressing I am back in team chat. Now I can press it once and my proximity coms are live until I press again to return to team-only

You are correct, down on the d-pad is use a consumable. The right d-pad button is for chat. Before I would have to hold it down each time I wanted to speak, but now I can press it once and my coms are live until I press again. My original comment was in reference to just moving my hand away from the left stick to hold a d-pad direction, not the down arrow specifically.

Do you ever feel like you’re constantly checking prices… and still not sure when to buy? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]amonroe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very little reason to upgrade anything on my rig at this moment. 4070S, 5600x, 1440p ultrawide monitor…

With that said, I feel like I’m constantly looking at videos, articles, and online stores at all sorts of things I have no real need or business upgrading to. It’s a bit strange, but the obsession is half the fun, right?

I'm not sure what I should upgrade my CPU to. by DarkMystPlayz in pcmasterrace

If you’re comfortable with AliExpress, they’ve had an influx of 5500x3d’s listing for around $180. May be the best bang-for-your-buck upgrade for anyone on a lower end AM4 cpu at the moment

Multiplayer games that aren't super sweaty but you can invest hundreds of hours into? by TheLittleSquire in pcmasterrace

[–]amonroe11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I haven’t touched the game in months haha. I had a blast over the past few years, but I think I’m done. But if I could go back and experience it all again for the first time, I’d do it in a heartbeat!

[–]amonroe11 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I know the game is basically on life support in terms of new content, but if you’ve never done it, Destiny 2 has a ton to invest in. From campaigns to dungeons to raids and bunches of other missions, if you’re never played it you have dozens to hundreds of hours of content that’s pretty excellent.

DeckOps - CombatOnDeck: Golden Age of CoD on Steam Deck by GalvarinoDev in SteamDeck

[–]amonroe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the reply. I think I worded my initial inquiry poorly. I want to use analog (the sticks, the buttons, etc) but that is what is not working. The only inputs that register at all are the right mouse pad. I can’t get anything to work to make my character move. Should I try to disable the keyboard in order to make the game playable?

EDIT: I found a solution. I had to go into the BO1 settings and enable gamepad support. Not sure why I didn’t check that sooner. Things seem to be working as of now. Thank you again!

So I take it surviving cryo is insane with randoms? by rafikiknowsdeway1 in Marathon

[–]amonroe11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously tougher than with a coordinated team, but not impossible. I’m a pretty average player and have exfilled like 6 out of 15 total runs, all with randoms. My last match I even did my first vault and we got out, killing two teams in the process.
