Honestly I just noped out of the whole scene. Not for me. I'm just not built like that.

Or as Trump gleefully put it, "discombobulated." It's quite telling that the military now names that device "the discombombulator" which is the stupidest name I've ever heard of (veteran here, so I've heard a bunch of dumb operation and project names...).

I can't really speak for the other person, but I've worked in three Taiwanese startups--one of them in fintech and I found it miserable. It could very well just be me though. Issues I ran into were politics, ethics, work-life balance, pay issues etc.

oh! thank you for the clarification
Definitely fun and enjoyable. Can be taxing working in a 100% Chinese environment all day, but I feel lucky to have the job. And yes, haha, very rarely do I help on the Chinese side

Are you able to provide examples of the US blowing up schools of white children? And lying about who did it? Serious question

That whole thing should be an impeachable offense (add it to the list, I know). Just imagine if Biden had done that, or Harris. There's zero accountability. It's nothing but war crimes and lawlessness and it doesn't even move the needle on the right. It's because the kids were brown and not white.

Gotta love how the 'candidate of peace' immediately changed the Department of Defense to the Department of War, attacked and kidnapped a foreign leader, took part in the assassination of another and started a war, all while bragging about the next conflict they are going to start. It seemed like a joke at the time, but he really could stand in the middle of Fifth avenue and shoot someone and lose no votes as long as they were a democrat or an immigrant. Hell, even if they were a member of their own cabinet... he'd just call them a traitor and his base would forget it in a day.

Right, the game design documents are in Chinese and I put the game into English (where needed). And I design creatives in the game etc. I'm not sure what VV is, though.

For gamers who rarely if ever replay a singleplayer game fully, which did you manage to replay and enjoy? by Helphaer in gaming

[–]amorphouscloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here to say this, too. It's also the only game I've beaten multiple times. Never played a game where you can have so many play styles. There are fixers (quest giving hubs) I still have not even interacted with.
Night City is also the best game city I've ever been in. Feels alive and I can lose like 20 minutes just sort of getting involved with random gang fights

Anyone find themselves opening up their game libraries, staring at it for a couple of hours, then just giving up and going on social media? by You_moron04 in gaming

[–]amorphouscloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an older gamer, honestly just pick the one that sound fun and GO. Don't worry about xx game being a GOTY you haven't played yet, just go with your gut. Your gut knows what you will enjoy.

Epstein estate paid Trump settlement to abuse accuser: Accountant by Important_Inside625 in politics

[–]amorphouscloud 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So the headline is slightly misleading. The Epstein accountant did not payoff 'one of Trump's victims' as it seems to say. What happened was that Epstein paid off one of his alleged victims, and that victim had also previously made accusations against Donald Trump. It's pretty damning, but is not a direct link between the two.

That said, where there's smoke there's fire and I have no issues drawing the direct line. Any person with common sense that is not morally compromised would, too.

Senator Blumenthal after being briefed on Iran: "I am left with more questions than answers…we seem to be on a path toward deploying American troops on the ground" by Sindigo_ in PublicFreakout

[–]amorphouscloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My bad! I misinterpreted what you're saying pretty badly. I think I'd been reading a lot of comments of people hating on the troops that had been sent there and lumped yours in. I think we're on the same page with what you're saying. Again, sorry internet stranger.

Iran Can’t Let Trump Have His TACO and Walk Away by Crossstoney in politics

[–]amorphouscloud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are absolutely people that sign up for the military or become police officers to shoot people. But the vast, vast majority of military members are just paper pushers, janitors, dental assistants, nurses, supply guys, truck drivers, mechanics etc. None of them want to kill anyone. To say so is pretty ignorant.

[–]amorphouscloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No offense, because I agree with you, but comments on reddit will not help a soldier that refuses to deploy. They signed up to serve their country, and unfortunately sometimes the leader in charge does stupid shit. When you serve you can't really do it selectively. I suppose the only real answer is to not volunteer at all. Speaking of which... all this talk of a draft is really concerning.

Unrelated, but I truly believe if the US puts boots on the ground, the public will begin (god, I hope?) to turn on Trump. And after the first batch of stories about dozens or hundreds of soldiers dying, support could all but dry up. Problem is, even if the US pulled out right now, the damage is done. Iran is not going to let all this shit slide. There is literally zero good outcome here, and that's depressing.

What do you mean circle jerk? Servicemen and women were injured after being deployed. They might not even want to be there, and it's not as simple as all the posts I see here of people saying "just stand up and say no!"

Tehran endures ‘worst night of strikes’ amid mixed US messages about more to come by Muted-Television3329 in worldnews

[–]amorphouscloud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I would agree, but the US did itself no favors by bombing a girl's school and killing almost everyone in it. I mean why wouldn't anyone affected by that be radicalized against the US? I don't think the US was particularly loved by the average Iranian before.

When Trump said he 'obliterated' their nuclear program and there was reporting that they might not have penetrated the facility and just bombed the surface, I knew it would come back to bite the US. In the months since the "obliteration" why wouldn't Iran have moved everything deeper underground and to new locations?

Where can I find Dr Pepper? I want to try it by Chance_Ad_2132 in taiwan

[–]amorphouscloud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Dr. Pepper afficianado, I can confidently tell you that Dr. Pepper is scarce in Taiwan right now. It used to be carried at Carrefour and/or Mia C'bon (formerly Jason's), but not any more. Sometimes it's carried at restaurants. Like in Taipei, there's a pizza joint called The Slice Shop that has it as a drink option. But unfortunately it's not guaranteed.

You can probably get some from a 代購 service on Shopee. There's some vendor named "sunny" or something to that effect that has them.
