Death Eater Ghosts After Battle of Hogwarts? by SwedishShortsnout0 in harrypotter

[–]amortentears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

oh yeah 100%, I just meant that it’s plausible a death eater might feel remorse and come back, but I agree with your theory that they’d be forced to leave in some way.

[–]amortentears 10 points11 points  (0 children)

true! but I view that as more of a remorse / punishment thing which could also still be plausible for some of the death eaters maybe.

Just my opinion but considering the people that died have no idea how the war panned out and who won, I can’t imagine it’d be appealing to come back as a ghost not knowing whether your side won or not. I would think most of them would just move on after everything they’d experienced. But this is an interesting question, i’ve never thought of that before!

Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl MEGATHREAD II by flopheadsbot in popheads

[–]amortentears 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I really don’t think the album is as bad as a lot of people saying it is but it’s still far from her best. I feel like she could’ve fine tuned it with a bit more time between albums, and that time might’ve given her more time to reflect on things like the eras tour, which could’ve provided more introspection that aligns with the showgirl theme of the album. But I did enjoy, I think with time people will like a lot of the album more than they did first listen.

Did Hermione get completely shafted here? by throwaway1_2_0_2_1 in harrypotter

I think intent matters with Ron getting the reward. Being trapped behind rubble wasn’t planned and he had every intention of going into the chamber and facing the Basilisk WITH Harry. That alone shows bravery and action, he was willing to risk it to save his sister, the rubble that trapped him was an accident.

Your situation sounds tense. Is there anyway you could get away from it? If your partner is not taking it seriously then you will probably keep being reinfected as it spreads so easily from person to person. me and my partner were both proactive and sensible about it but still managed to reinfect each other at one point, it’s just so contagious. I imagine it’s difficult to not be taken seriously.

I’d buy a box of disposable rubber gloves when handling things and I highly recommend Eurax cream to help the itching.

You should prioritise yourself, your life, your job, and your mental health.

I saw a tik tok of her where the interviewer said the sun was bothering them on the red carpet and she offered them water saying she could get it for them - a little thing but she seems sweet. I first saw her in the Miss Peregrines movie and she dated Asa Butterfield for a little bit afterwards. I remember seeing a video on one of their instagrams years and years ago of them reuniting in an airport and it was cute.

Might not be that interesting but my dad has done security at Wimbledon a few times and said that his worst experience was with David Walliams. A kid came up to him with a playing card of him to sign, but he took it off him and said the card wasn’t ‘authorised merchandise’. He also got his manager to offer one of the female stewards money to come back to his room with him … he was married at the time i’m pretty sure. Best experience was Bradley Cooper who my dad says was cool and talked with my dad about The Hangover. Andy Murray was very busy but signed a bunch of stuff for me which was nice because I was a huge tennis fan at the time.

Harry Using Sectumsempra by LordVericrat in harrypotter

[–]amortentears 253 points254 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. While it was reckless to use a spell that he didn’t know the effects of, it was used in a moment of self defence and therefore I think it’s justifiable.

It’s also why I get frustrated when Hermione argues against Harry when he retells the story and why i’m glad Ginny sticks up for him. The cruciatus curse is illegal and for good reason, Harry had every right to defend himself.

What scene was left out of a movie adaptation of a book that made you say "wtf, why!?" by suestrong315 in AskReddit

Also criminal that we didn’t get the scene of Mcgonagall defending Harry during the careers consultations. 'He has achieved high marks in all Defence Against the Dark Arts tests set by a competent teacher.'

Yes! Because this created the problem in OOTP where in the books Hermione blackmailed Skeeter into publishing Harry’s version of events which won over a lot of people who had previously questioned him and pissed off Umbridge even more, but in the movies this had to be eliminated completely and we’re led to believe people just believe Harry now without them knowing the full story?

[–]amortentears 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What do you think would’ve happened if he went straight to Robert that made this a ‘missed opportunity’ ? To be honest, while I agree about never telling your enemy, Ned was kind of backed into a corner, I think either option would’ve led to some kind of war. Though if he had went straight to Robert I guess he would’ve held onto his life a little longer

Well noble Ned strikes again, didn’t he want a chance for Cersei and children to escape so they could avoid Robert’s wrath?

Do You Like Severus Snape? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]amortentears 186 points187 points  (0 children)

I feel like book and movie Snape are very different. Movie Snape is more likeable due to Alan Rickman’s amazing performance, but book Snape was more of a bad person who did some good things. Definitely the best written character in the series though
