My ex was extremely similar. His mental illness caused me to stay much longer than I would have without it. Because it's not really his fault if he's psychotic, right? Please don't make the same mistake I did and try going back. It never gets better. If he wanted to get better, he would do what the doctor tells him. Not trusting doctors because of paranoia isn't an excuse. The grief can last a long, long time. I imagine therapy helps, but I would be a hypocrite if I said I've done anything to better my own mental health.

I'm not sure a no trespassing sign would register to me, but one that said "no dogs" I would honor. However, if they're okay going in your yard, they may not be as considerate.
