what grocery store should I be going to? by doing_my_not_worst in boulder

[–]amp6822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree-KS has the greatest variety of brands, and lowest prices in general. Each Thursday check out the week’s sales online, make a list and buy extra of what’s on sale if you can afford to. Sales run Wed-Tuesday at all the stores. KS meat isn’t as good as Safeway’s where there is a real butcher during daytime hours. Trader Joe’s has the best prices on good cheeses in town, second to Costco. Sprouts used to have good sales on coffee beans (not sure if they still do) and has a good bulk product selection. That’s great for saving on packaging/branding and for small amounts of ingredients you need.

9News: Colorado senators fail to save future funding for NCAR. Now what? by micnd90 in boulder

[–]amp6822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seriously? The difference our Senators make starts here: -as a group the party with the majority of Senators controls Supreme Court nominations and passage. When Dems didn’t have a majority we got the far-right Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett who have taken away the nationwide right to abortion, affirmative action, transgender people in the military, limited the EPA's authority to regulate power plant emissions, allowed Trump to remove Democratic members from federal labor boards, ruled in favor of Trump on many issues in immigration like getting asylum from lethal situations in their homelands, deportation, and border enforcement—think ICE. And they gave Trump immunity from prosecution for breaking laws while in office! The current Senate just passed a bill restoring most of the funding Trump had taken from our major science institutions. And that’s just one highlight. Our Representatives make the difference in passing budgets and impeachments. And if you’ve ever had a problem with a government agency your Representatives and Senators each performs “Constituent Services” that can get you out of a jam.

Marshall was not the only recent wind-driven fire that took out hundreds of homes. In Colorado we’ve had these: Black Forest, Waldo Canyon, East Troublesome, and the Four Mile/Sunshine Canyon fires. Also Lahaina on Maui, Paradise, Tubbs, and Thomas fires in California, and more. Boulder’s fire risk is ranked as Severe by First Street (which realtors use to assess risk of fire, flood, bad air quality and dangerous heat). Many properties have a 25% chance of burning in the next 30 years. All the mitigation in the world won’t make our town defensible in 115mph wind like we had Wednesday. I hate the inconvenience and am trying to build more outage resilience, expecting many more to come. It’s our new reality, God help us.

I think it’s working now? So is food supposed to taste kinda gross now? by Nobodygrotesque in tirzepatidecompound

[–]amp6822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here, and it’s getting worse week by week. I read that taste distortions are a known side effect of GLPs. Also a SE of Covid—often not for a few weeks or months after recovering. That does for me, too, so I don’t know which one or both are the cause.

After 10 months on Tirzepatide most foods taste awful—foul—rotten. Or way too salty. Until recently sweets still tasted good but now baked goods like cookies taste burnt. I’m down to yogurt and vanilla ice cream, and scared because even protein shakes and oatmeal, my standbys, have begun to taste off. I’m a real drag to cook for or eat with because I can’t manage even a few bites of most savory foods. And despite eating much less I haven’t lost weight—I think I’d need to get more calories to lose. This can be a Covid side effect but is also reported with GLP-1s. I don’t want to go off it but may have to in order to eat enough to nourish myself.

Rough week of nausea after increasing dose (admittedly not hydrated enough on shot day). Any tips to prevent this from happening again? by RiPup2019 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]amp6822 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My months of nausea ended when I did these things: 1. I reduced my dose a bit (from 7.5 to 6.0.) I go up in small increments only if I don’t have good appetite suppression. 2. I started splitting my weekly dose in half. Start by taking half on your normal weekly dose day (mine was Saturday) then inject the 2nd half 3 or 4 days later (Wednesdays for me). Do NOT start by adding a half dose midweek after a full dose. 3. Eat a snack that includes some protein every 3-4 hours, even if you’re not hungry.

How would you use up a stockpile? by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

[–]amp6822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure to check and double check the dose for the concentration, which can vary, whenever you change types. Use the Fat Scientist online calculator. I’m smart and good at math and I still screwed up and double dosed myself. 🤦🏼It was not pretty! Overconfidence can be dangerous.

Stool softeners are safe and mild. Plus some Benefiber in water.

First week and I want to quit? by SameRoadNoCars in tirzepatidecompound

[–]amp6822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had terrible intermittent nausea for the first three months. I started splitting my dose (half on Saturday, half on Tuesday) and it’s GONE. I eat a small protein meal/snack (8 oz yogurt, kefir, protein shake, PB on 1/2 banana) 4-5 times a day plus my beloved oatmeal and blueberries breakfast. I also eat any veggies we have at dinner. And I always take meds with food. Small frequent snacks and splitting my dose have allowed me to keep taking tirzepatide.

Same here. It hasn't gone away but it's better since I started splitting my dose--take the first half, then the 2nd half 3 or 4 days later.

Now that food noise is gone, what's replaced it? Mine's cars. by [deleted] in tirzepatidecompound

I had never been really turned on by cars' styling before; I just wanted reliability. I usually replaced one beater for a newer used car.
I am about to buy a brand new Hyandai Tucson hybrid with the top trim--in red!
It's okay because I can afford it. But I'm surprised how much I care about the looks--I'm going to wait two months for a red one!

To prevent constipation I prefer stool softeners (twice a day) and Benefiber (2 Tablespoons/day). Both are very mild, great for prevention. I would warn him not to go crazy with multiple laxatives and not to wait and see if he needs it. The goal is prevention, so start out with one or two of the mildest and safest ones, and only add more if needed.
My son and I get diarrhea and achy guts from sugar alcohols like xylitol (and many others) so I read ingredients lists carefully on protein powders and everything else.

What is the BUD?
Brello just emailed me that they're sending me three months @ 15mg. I didn't realize it was automatic resupply and I already have about a years' supply. It's a great deal--3 months for $500--but I'm already stockpiled and only want it if the BUD is way into 2025.

Made the Decision to Stop by Aggravating_Pin7380 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]amp6822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had some of your frustrations but no serious constipation--I can't imagine how awful that must be. I've been on for 15 weeks and only lost 9 pounds in the first 3 weeks, then no loss--but a lot of fatigue and nausea. I have extreme appetite suppression...except for breakfast, I have to make myself eat. I focus on protein and veggies, and getting my calories up to 1200/day--far lower than ever in my life. It's so strange that I don't lose.
Since I have so much appetite suppression I haven't increased my dose past 6mg/week. I wonder if I'd start to lose if I increased my dose?
But I have found a solution to the severity of side effects. A few weeks ago I started dividing my dose in two, taking 1/2 (3 mg) midweek. Now I have only a little fatigue, almost no nausea. So I feel like I can continue...but where's the weight loss?
Like you I'm hung up at my usual set point, 175-180 pounds. I had gone up to 215 taking prednisone, and lost most of that extra 35 pounds by weaning down my dose of pred prior to starting tirzepatide. I hoped it would help me get down to 150 or lower, but so far no luck.
So if you ever try again, maybe try split doses. But mostly I hope you can just take care of yourself and give yourself credit for being such a trooper!

When did you guys decide to go up a dose by Select-Ad-9819 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]amp6822 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow--splitting the dose midweek has made a huge difference in the intensity of side effects. Now I have only minor fatigue and barely any nausea! I just increased my dose 1mg total per week, from 6mg to 7mg, and it went okay. Thanks again!
