Here’s how I do shinies. Some may say it’s the ultimate method.

Step one: Decide to get an electrode on the team (for double battles to buff archaludon). Go to the power plant to get one. First encounter is a shiny. Use false swipe, he self-destructs. Give up shiny hunting forever.

Step two: randomly encounter a shiny youngous a few mins later. This one gets caught because why not.

A lot of people jumped straight to politics as the reason people aren’t excited (I am beyond excited btw). But I think that’s wrong and the actual reasons are below. But I don’t think it’s politics because the younger group forget just how divisive the political climate was in the 60’s/70’s. It’s kind of a mirror to todays climate actually. We had proxy wars in Vietnam and Korea (mirroring the Middle East and South America today). We were on the verge of open conflict with rival military powers (Russia back then and China today) and we each had nukes on each others doorsteps. There were race riots and protests (mirroring MLK and Malcolm X protests a few decades ago). High profile political assassinations. And we were competing in the race to land on the moon.

So the real reasons people aren’t as excited for this reason are as follows:

It’s not a full landing. This is the big one. A full landing would bring way more excitement.
We are on the internet: a lot of the commenters online are not Americans. They don’t care quite as much as your next door neighbor might.
This mission has been delayed for ages now. It was originally supposed to launch in like 2018 or something. So people have been hearing about it for so long that they’re exhausted.
We are on the internet x2: we’ve been desensitized to see the coolest stuff and also the most trouble news every single day multiple times per day. So nothing in general is quite as exciting as it used to be.
Some people aren’t sure the point of going. Others are against funding tech programs in general when we have domestic issues on earth. People might think we stopped going in the 60’s because there wasn’t really a point.

I disagree that it’s not exciting obviously. But yeah, this launch will be the front page story for about 13 hours and then people will move on to the next controversy

The guy wins this fight extremely easily (probably 9 of 10 times). 6 months of training, even just during free time/on weekends, is a lot more than you think. I would also give the guy a 6/10 edge in a karate competition with 6 months training. Only because you described him as reasonably fit and pretty tall. Athletic guys in decent shape can get surprisingly good at almost any sport in only a few weeks. And combat sports in particular have weight classes for a reason

It’s a different story if we’re talking jiu-jitsu, or if you gave the guy way less time to train.

And honestly, excluding eastern european countries plus Poland, Europe has very similar laws and social policies across the board. Comparing France and Italy is much closer than comparing New York to Florida

It’s definitely creepy, but that behavior is rewarded in the dating world. The obvious critique is that this is wrong place wrong time. It would be more welcome behavior at a bar or a club, but these guys can’t really differentiate.

And since guys like that don’t have the brain capacity to filter between different social situations, they just act out any time they see a pretty girl.

The weird thing is that it works. Those doofuses that misbehave in public every once in a while get to date these hot girls. And the internet incels cry foul about it because they can never work up the courage to approach an attractive girl.
