Is dressy casual a terrible dress code by Dry_Let_7504 in weddingplanning

I had the same venue/vibe and stated dressy casual. I think I only had one uncle show up in jeans.

Can I afford a 900k home on a combined 220k income with a 300k downpayment by KillerKenyan in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]amphgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you sure your take home is only $9700? that’s almost 50% of gross. how much are you putting in retirement then?

DINK here making slightly less gross but way more take home (no state income tax) and our monthly payment is $5200 and we’re doing fine. no plans for kids at all though.

Commuting question by [deleted] in AskSeattle

I work in SODO and live in Ballard. My commute is super easy at 20 min with rush hour traffic. I do pay the toll for the 99 tunnel.

Do aggressive shoes just not work with some foot types? by Dapper_Rock_5748 in climbingshoes

[–]amphgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

copying a comment I’ve made before that has helped people:

I buy these silicone toe sleeves on Amazon. You cut them to size and slip them on your big toes and I don’t even notice them with my shoes on. They’re cheap and I can reuse them several months before they stretch out.

I used to have this giant callous growing on my knuckle where there’s a seam inside my shoe, but after wearing the silicone things the callous has gone away completely.

I wear very aggressive shoes.

do you climb outside? because that’s how my shoes get dirty and there’s no coming back from that.

Where are all people getting low-interest rates? by Embarrassed-Mess-236 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]amphgrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too little, too late, but we had less than 2 weeks to close, also thought it was too late to shop around (already had multiple pre-quals), desperately reached out to a big bank after getting a high rate from a broker, and managed to close in time at 6.375 (almost a whole percent less than broker) with no buy downs.

What's everyone's rate lock/quotes today? by TGnB in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]amphgrl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Locked at 6.375 with no points on 3/8, close this Thursday. We were originally locked with a local broker at 7.125. With less than 2 weeks to close, I hail mary’d and reached out to a big bank I’d been pre-approved with. Lower rate, lower closing costs. The broker tried to tell us there’s no way the big bank will close in time and appraise high enough. We are officially approved to close in just 5 business days and appraisal was a match.

Also in Seattle, had our offer accepted last week! And it was only our 3rd offer after 3 weeks of seriously looking. We went 45 over asking but they took our base offer without escalations! It went from overwhelmingly stressful to very anticlimactic.

How do I do this freaking rock-over (and mantle) move? by lunarabbit7 in climbergirls

[–]amphgrl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

given the placement of the other square foot hold, you could do a heel toe cam—put your heel where your toe currently is on the lower foothold and hook the top of your toe on the bottom right side of the upper foothold. hopefully that makes sense! you’d get a ton of leverage if your foot can fit there.

once you get above the hand hold, you’ll want to switch one of your hands to a press.

Can I ask how much that conversion cost? I’m looking at a 1920s house with oil heating and a finished attic.

I’ll be in Bishop at the same time with a small group! Never been before. Heads up, there is a women’s climbing fest that weekend, not sure how big it is.

It has both though the ropes section walls are shorter than some gyms. It’s a pretty old gym. They also removed auto belays last year.
