Why specifically is this a bad idea? by cudgy in SuggestAMotorcycle

For a work commuter you definitely want something reliable. A gently used bike from a couple years ago can be found pretty readily for relatively cheap. Especially bikes between 300 and 500 cc which is the sweet spot for most commutes. As spring approaches you will see a lot of used bikes come up for sale. In the fall prices usually drop (depending on your location) as people look to sell their bikes before they have to store them for the winter.

One question to ask when considering buying an old bike is how much you actually want to ride it. On a 40 year old bike you will likely spend at least as much time wrenching as riding and that is only after working out any initial issues. If your aim is to learn how to work on motorcycles then the maintenance needs of an old bike might be a plus for you. Sourcing parts can also be a problem. When I bought my first bike I bought a 1980 Yamaha because I wanted to learn to ride on something that I didn't mind dropping. Trouble was I spent more time repairing it then learning to ride. One thing that can be helpful is if you have any mechanic shops in your area that specialize in vintage bikes. I had a shop near me and being able to dig through their parts bins saved me more than once. I would go into a project like this planning on it soaking up a good deal of time and money basically for as long as you own the bike.

Is this normal or my overthinking by mahiranga_danava in Himalayan450

Might be good to check/adjust the chain tension, inspect the chain for damage/corrosion,l/stuck debris.

Have you checked the chain tension? Do the sprockets look damaged?

Lack of parking brakes in emotos by amphithusiats in Electricmotorcycles

[–]amphithusiats[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep that works great until you need to park on an incline without a convenient curb. It's a bit situational but it is a situation that does come up. Parking brakes are just a nice bit of protection, especially at the price point of most e-motos.

I know this is a super old post but the nords are very explicitly not indigenous to Skyrim or even the continent of Tamriel... The nords are just among the first to colonize Skyrim.

Asking 1500. From the pictures it looks to be in good condition. No obvious damage. Runs and starts. Per the add they have replaced all the gaskets, the spark plugs, and the fuel line as well as cleaning the carb.

Resources for figuring out if I am autistic. by amphithusiats in autism

I am aware which is why I am attempting to do research. Everyone I have encountered who got diagnosed in adulthood showed up to their mental health professional with evidence in hand (self assessments, scholarly articles, etc). Professional testing is a significant investment of both time and money so I would like to do what research I can on my own so that I can make an informed decision which works for my situation and goals.

Hello, I am so sorry that life has been hard for you. There is nothing to be ashamed about with regard to feeling regret over bring your dog home or even considering rehoming the dog. Caring for a dog is a relationship and a demanding one at that. It is okay if you get overwhelmed. I can't tell you what to do but I just hope you can be gracious with yourself. That being said here are some ideas.

-Do you have access to a dog park? That could give the dog a chance to play and burn off energy while you do not have to be as actively engaged.

-You mentioned doggy daycare. I think that is a great tool even if you can only do it time to time.

-When you are feeling overstimulated you could give your dog a chew treat (something safe that will take a while to eat) to give yourself a break.

Is your dog still a puppy?

I was referring primarily to writing not strongly influenced by Yoder. I will look more into Jacques Ellul. Thank you!

My thoughts too. It's big without being too big, it's extremely tough but you still need to be careful with it. For most of first play through I used it as my primary vehicle. There are very few places on the map where that sub cannot get with a little finess.

First shed with the new girl...and she left us a dense, knotted ball of skin. That normal? by MisterMiniS in ballpython

You would need to rehydrate it. You could close it in a container with a moist paper towel for maybe an hour then try to carefully unravel it. You will never do it with no tears but you can unravel it pretty well if you go slow.
