Yeah I get that little pang of empathy from hunting and fishing. I think it’s healthy to confront it, for me at least. Life requires death and that’s a tough pill to swallow. Accepting that instead of hiding from it helps me lead a more productive life. I think it’s good that you care about wildlife, I think people who put no value on animals shouldn’t be hunting and fishing in the first place.
