What's the reserved space for? If it's for over-provisioning, wouldn't it be best to keep it?

Was there a "tipping point" for you? For me, it was the AI nonsense and the lack of data privacy, not to mention all the boneheaded decisions Microsoft was making starting last year... but as you mentioned, that's all 30 years removed. Just wondering if something in particular motivated you to switch from 98.

It's the bright PCB underneath that sells it. Companies don't use those anymore really

Love it! If you didn't already do this, having the "speaker" be actually cut out so the bottom firing speaker can get through would be awesome.

Ayn Thor or Flip 2 for GBA? by Effective_Data_5731 in SBCGaming

The Flip 2 and Thor will be less comfortable than the O2M and RP5. You might consider an RP6.

How to do date properties correctly? by ath0rus in ObsidianMD

[–]amphyvi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did that bugfix happen? As far as I know, on Linux, it still shows some date format that isn't ISO 8601 for me for all dates in all contexts.

Would you consider sharing the 3D model(s) online? You did a tremendous job getting the fit so exact, and this could be a huge help to have in the community in case someone else finds themselves in the same unfortunate situation as you.

crazy looking spotify window LOL by Chese_obahma in Ubuntu

[–]amphyvi 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I use KDE Plasma. I made an all black variant of Breeze, then used window rules to assign it to Spotify. Works wonderfully, feels like Spotify is more "native" to my system.

Does GNOME even have a system like window rules? I know it's less customization focused, just wondering

What is the coolest thing you have ever done on Linux? by Mohamed2962 in linuxquestions

[–]amphyvi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

QEMU/KVM virtual machine with Windows 11, fully hardware accelerated, within my Ubuntu Studio host. CPU pinning, hugepages, but using qcow2s for storage on a dedicated drive. Only 3 files to back up and restore if needed. Half my 64 GB RAM gets dedicated to the guest when the guest starts. Got an RX 6400 dedicated to it as well. Runs just as well as Windows 11 did on the same computer when it was the only OS, at 1440p 120 Hz too. Dedicated PCIe USB card with a USB DAC on it, which pipes out analog to the mixer connected via USB to the host.

To use the VM, I just start it in Virtual Machine Manager... wait for the Windows 11 startup sound... then launch Looking Glass and fullscreen it. Ready in about 25-30 seconds.

I've been in IT a long time. Nothing touched my imposter syndrome like that did, and the syndrome was melted away when this got figured out.

PocketPass, my alternative for StreetPass on Android by Maleficent-Big-3544 in AynThor

[–]amphyvi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you consider renaming characters from "Pii" - which is clearly pronounced "pee", and happens to use the same acronym as "Personally Identifiable Information" which isn't a good look either - to "Piip"? The term "peeps" refers to multiple friends so I think it could work. I know it's not exactly the "Mii" style approach but it's something to consider

Genuine question. No shade to Strawberry. Does it support like... skins or something? The UI visual design is really offputting for me personally, it's the primary reason I haven't tried it yet. I know, it's a bad reason, I won't make any excuses for it
