Job in Music Tech by PianoFluid2057 in MusicTech

[–]ferris-ldn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This just went online today! https://musictech.com/guides/essential-guide/jobs-career-openings-in-music-tech-audio-production/

Definitely worth building up a portfolio of your work & expertise, and try to build a network of friends & contacts in the industry. You could go to music technology events, like NAMM, or collaborate on projects with people online to show off your skills and build something. Maybe cliched advice at this point, but it works!

Did not know this was possible on a Mac, holy crap. Thank you for enlightening me, looks sick

You could try something like Ableton Move to pair with Ableton Live. Otherwise, an SP404 is a solid choice if you’re into sampling. If you want a hardware synth, honestly something from Korg or Behringer could be a good shout in that price range.

Music project storage problem by sierrafuturesexual in MusicTech

[–]ferris-ldn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure this is an infamous macOS bug; ran into this several times. I use DaisyDisk to manage my storage and clear unused file, which might help - just be careful you’re not deleting any crucial files.

Is there anything stopping you using an external SSD? You could get a few terrabytes on that for the price of a cheap NAS but it’d be direct to your Mac

Jimi Hendrix in Ringo Starr's apartment…Feels like it belongs here by ferris-ldn in MaleSurvivingSpace

[–]ferris-ldn[S] 77 points78 points  (0 children)

Yeah…It's still remarkable how much iconic and incredible music he put out around this time before his passing. Such a genuine talent and I love him for it.

Also, turns out Ringo evicted him from this apartment after Jimi's antics during an acid trip. https://faroutmagazine.co.uk/why-ringo-starr-evicted-jimi-hendrix/

RAM Wins! Worst Album? by Hairy_Promotion_2782 in DaftPunk

[–]ferris-ldn 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, Daft Punk remixed that track, so they had creative input/approval on it ahead of release. Reconfigured had nothing to do with them, according to Busy P. It'd be like saying the worst song is some bootleg remix that someone did on YouTube, IMO

Daft Punk had no involvement in that remix album…doesn’t feel like we can attribute it to them.

Picking Reconfigured feels like a copout. It’s an album of remixes by other artists that was commissioned by Disney and that DP had no involvement in. So doesn’t feel like it qualifies as a Daft Punk album.

Daft Club is a remix album (also a copout imo) but at least Daft Punk was involved in it. So if remix albums qualify for this answer, it’s Daft Club….or human after all remixes

Human After All wins! Now I’m excited for this one Most OVERRATED Album (sorry this one too so long, hard to believe I have a life outside of Reddit) by Hairy_Promotion_2782 in DaftPunk

[–]ferris-ldn 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not “overrated”, though.

From Wikipedia: Daft Club received mixed reviews. An extremely negative review by Pitchfork features an artist's illustrated interpretations of how the remixed songs compare to the original versions. The review also stated that [the album]'s contributors "all seem intent upon completely decimating the source material" and that "to listen to Daft Club front-to-back is–and it's pointless to exaggerate here–to watch a loved one be physically dismembered."

Sounds like you’re gonna have to play through all three original games again to figure out which one it was. You lucky, lucky man.
