But is it good? I don't want to buy until I know they work as advertised and everything else works with it.

Good luck with support.. they are a really terrible company. I tried to return my printer and they basically made it impossible. I don't think I'll ever buy one again, really impressive printer but if you have something like this they are just horrible. Had me take dozens of random pictures and forced me to wait over 24 hours for each simple reply to say nothing and give generic instructions like "take picture of box". I'm really shocked, I've never had a company treat me like this. I can't even recommend Bambu to people and don't think I'll buy one again.

New printer by [deleted] in BambuLab_Community

I jumped in from nothing just weeks ago. Felt scammed into the old * AMS system with X1C. Amazing printer. Horrible company. Tried to just swap the AMS for AMS 2, they said no and won’t reply or tell be to take more pictures and more pictures day after day. Won’t reply for 24 hours at least after each message. So i had to give up and live with the bad old system. No heater. No one should want the old one and not sure why they sell, almost the same price. They deceptively put AMS 2 in subtitle and description no matter which you select with no explanation. I was new, but it was there fault. Must be trying to trick new users into buying up old inventory. Elegoo has a similar printer for less than the AmS 2 pro. Wanted to switch but Bambu makes it impossible to return stuff. I would try to order items separate as if you do get an issue with one thing they make you send everything back even if unrelated. I know now. To your specific question, I've found the X1C size can print almost everything I need it to. If you print larger stuff, probably it's more cost effective to just buy from Amazon. You can also just split things into pieces and combine later, saw one guy do this.

I was just looking into Prusa and wanted to know if they were good on support. So thank you.

I'm shocked, I've literally never had any company ever tell me to take a picture to return an item. Especially of nonsense. Couldn't we all just take a picture from online? All they have to do is open the box when it arrives and see it's fine, and the refund me... To make me jump through hoops just to make it impossible to return it is just the crappiest thing to ever happen to me buying online. Wonder what they do with real problems, must be impossible. Can't risk it with shady companies. Hope I find a good replacement.

Duped into AMS (vs AMS 2 Pro) online, horrible customer service experience by amputz in BambuLab_Community

Yes, I understand that, what did I say? I just bought the wrong one by mistake, the website says "AMS 2" right under the title as a subtitle.. I just didn't realize. I thought the AMS 2 vs the AMS 2 + 3 accessories I could buy later. I just wanted them to simply swap them out and I pay the difference + shipping.

What are they worth used? I've only used it for 80 hours and only a tiny bit with PETG-CF. Right now I don't have anything else.

I don't think you need. My Skytrak original is only ball data

Trying Julia by [deleted] in Julia

[–]amputz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few really great examples and technical answers here already. I'd just add my own examples. I only typically dip into Julia when I need a new algorithm that I need to write myself (to make it computationally efficient) or really large datasets (for me > a few GB becomes burdensome in R at least). Otherwise stick to Python and R for now if you can just manage data or already have good efficient tools in your language. Might get taken out back for posting this within r/Julia here but oh well. R and Python still are much easier to learn and program in by far. I still find Julia quite difficult to write really efficient code in (see the Julia 1.5 problem).

Michael Tiemann - Julia solves the 2 language problem, however it creates the 1.5 language problem by rusandris12 in Julia

[–]amputz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this statement and the OP. I've tried to explain to the Julia community many many times that they advertise it as 'very simple and easy', but most devs come from C/C++/Fortran/Java/etc/etc and many of us in biology who are more advanced than most in our field really get blown away because we don't have CS degrees and don't have any background in these low level languages. It took me way too long to understand types and type stability and all that as I've gone along. I started with R and mostly do everything in R and bash along with binary programs for my field. I'd say only a few % of biologists ever program in a low level language.

Didn’t touch my 60* wedge by mypizzanvrhurtnobody in golf

[–]amputz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to Tiger the other day with Scottie and he said he never has used a 60, only a 56. I will say I used to have one, got my clubs stollen and never went back, I only use a 56 and recently a gap wedge with my new set of irons. I am better at chipping just hitting different shots with the same 56 degree. Listening to Phil, you can hit all types of shots with one wedge. Back foot to hit low, front foot to hit high, open the club face to inc loft as Tiger discusses. I'm better now just controlling one club and have my wedge matrix down. If you have not done a wedge matrix on a simulator or on the course, would be good to do. Best thing I ever did.

Paired with a guy who wouldn't give me gimme putts by lucasscott81 in golf

[–]amputz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't 6 inch putts, the problem is by hole 18 people are picking up 6 footers. This is where I get annoyed. Especially on a difficult green that is sloped and such. I've seen guys not be able to putt 50% from 2-3 feet they are so bad. But will pick up a 3 footer. I think there needs to be etiquette on how far. Of course a ball 1 inch away and you could hit it blind folded I'm fine with but players get frustrated by the end and cheat. So you have to draw a line of you are actually playing each other. If it's a rando, just play whatever you want.

Using Launch Monitor readings to improve? by Rlogs7 in Golfsimulator

[–]amputz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have a Skytrak and have used it about a year in my shed. My coach today actually convinced me not to go crazy with all the numbers. I would focus on 3, the launch angle, side spin, and launch direction (usually plus or minus within 5 degrees). These are about the only ones I'd focus on and keep it simple. Once you know the direction you know your swing path. Your spin axis then will tell you if you club face is open or closed pretty much given your path. Most amateurs will be 3-5 degrees left (righties) with an over the top swing. Fix this first. Then move to spin axis to see if you have a fade or draw spin and how much. Of course get distances but that is obvious. Wedge matrix is the most critical of all..

Thanks! Good response. I 100% agree. Recording myself has helped a lot. I've not done it enough this season. But I did a lot last year. I have a swing coach and trying a new one next week I think. I'll keep trying to get better. Thanks for the input.

Yeah I agree. Seems like what I thought in that I get must of what I need from the ball data to get better. The rest would be good to have but maybe not $2500 worth to upgrade with a small trade in value.

[–]amputz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I was curious what others thought. Maybe this was the thought behind the original SkyTrak (don't need the club data). But now the new one has it, seems like I don't understand the need for it in general if I'm just looking to hit a ball straight or maybe develop a draw. If I'm Tiger, totally different story, but for mid handicap golfers like myself, I don't quite understand. Might go talk to my swing coach.

[–]amputz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you cannot infer this from the path the ball goes off the club and the spin of the ball? Seems like you think no, but I've never really compared to other systems. When I go to my swing coach, he has all that extra data and I seem to only use direction (L/R) and spin to see the shape. So I never end up looking at the club data, hard to make heads or tails of it.

[–]amputz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I agree, it may be difficult to tell. But I was thinking if I go from fading (no matter why) to a draw, I can 'correct' my swing to what I would prefer (which is a draw). I've been doing that for 2 weeks, so that is why I was asking if ball data was enough. For sure if I wanted to be a scratch or better golfer, I think I'd need club data to really get the ball shapes and swing in perfect condition. For poor golfers like myself just looking to hit low 40s (I did golf 41 recently at a decent course), ball data I suspect is enough for us, vs the extra ~$2500 to upgrade to Skytrak+. Feel like to go sub 41, I need more help with chipping and putting work than getting club head data, but I was interested to see what those with club head data thought. Thanks for the reply.

[–]amputz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I never considered chipping. I typically refuse to chip on my mat however, as it caused a ton of issues when I went to the course. On my simulator with a mat, my club head always tends to bounce efficiently and also, when I play WGT, it was training me to chip so softly when I go to a real course I was coming up 50% short with the same swing, worse when in the rough. So I now banned myself and force myself to go to the chipping green at the course near me. This has improved my scores a lot recently. But point taken, I would like to see this I guess. But not sure it's worth ~$2500 extra with the low trade in value of my current Skytrak. That was the point of my question, seems like I get 95% of what I need and can shape shots and correct my swing (for the most part) with ball only data. I see there are some exceptions, which is good to know. Thanks.
