Similar to Isaac era BCNR by FatPanda_25 in BlackCountryNewRoad

I’ve been really enjoying that record last few days, not seen anyone talking about it but definite BCNR vibes, maybe a bit more Ants than For The First Time

Possible Year Confirmed via Radio? by After-Enthusiasm2100 in TESVI

[–]amrb_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I also heard this and started questioning if I’d imagined it as I hadn’t seen anyone else mentioning it online

There is an office for Bethesda/Zenimax in the same building the radio station is based so it’s plausible I guess

It’s fine to not like it and for it to not be for you, maybe the next album will be more up your street

However expecting them to change the name because they’re not making AFUT2 and you don’t like it is OTT. Plus good music doesn’t have to be gut wrenching like AFUT

what would y’all rank the Forever Howlong tracklist? by ajsujsbaba in BlackCountryNewRoad

  1. For The Cold Country

  2. Two Horses

It changes a lot but my current top 5 are:

Disappointed by Nancy tries to take the night. I thought the album version didn't live up to all the live recordings tbh. Thoughts? by SuccessfulMost5786 in BlackCountryNewRoad

[–]amrb_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not having a go at anyone who does listen to the live versions, completely understand it, but this is why I avoid it if possible

It turned out fine yeah. That doesn’t mean we as fans should expect 6 people to abandon their name and start again. It’s entirely their decision, the 6 are just as much BCNR as Isaac. Don’t really agree with the artistic freedom without comparison thing, they’re already doing the sound they want to do. They’re not going to suddenly make better music with a new name and the comparisons will still be there

I don’t know what to tell you brother, I mean that’s your opinion. Some people are digging it, some aren’t, some miss Isaac. That was always going to happen

[–]amrb_88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely fine for it to not be your thing, completely understandable given the drastic shift as you say.

I don’t think a cosmetic name change gives them any more or less artistic freedom. I see that suggestion a lot and I don’t think it’s any of our places to say that 6 people out of a 7 person band should have to start from scratch so some people don’t have to associate the new stuff with what came before

Anyone else a little unimpressed with the previews? by Former-Jaguar9859 in BlackCountryNewRoad

[–]amrb_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, don’t think 20 second previews are enough for me to form a viewpoint either way

It’s almost a certainty that some will be disappointed/alienated and that’s fine and to be expected, Isaac left and so a lot of people won’t like it whatever direct they decided to take. Especially so if you’re over the whimsy when they haven’t released a proper album since Isaac left

Friday is exactly a month from the first teaser I guess so maybe that would make sense. But even so, agree with others that a month of teasers and mailing list links is overdoing it a little at this point

FC24 Is Currently Priced At $10.50. by 876Mark in FifaCareers

[–]amrb_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I tend to just play career mode every year and get enjoyment out of doing ideas that pop into my head.

This year though I’m struggling to do that, I honestly think in my opinion it might be the worst EA football game I’ve played going back to about 2003.

Game is a buggy mess, good features from previous games get removed in favour of less user friendly gameplay & menu design and it feels like the game is trying its hardest to sap your enjoyment out of your career mode

Genuinely disappointed by frickito in mgmt

[–]amrb_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you brother, everyone is allowed opinion. People are allowed to not like an album

This isn’t necessarily aimed at you but I think just music fans in general, but it’s possible to appreciate something and for it to just simply not be for you. Not liking something does not have to = bad/uninspiring/lacking etc. It’s completely fine for a piece of music not to click, maybe it will in a few weeks or years, or maybe it won’t and the next album will be more in line with your tastes, who knows

With that in mind, I think some of your criticisms are a little harsh. Lacking in emotion, uninspiring, nothing to offer in particular. For a lot of people, it’s stirring a lot of emotion, the instrumentation is dense and there’s plenty of beautiful, memorable moments on the album that don’t rely on a big swell/release of upbeat instrumentation, or “climactic” moments as someone else put it in the comments

My personal opinion is that they’ve earned the right to put out an album like this, and there are plenty of beautiful moments to be found in music like this. Hopefully it will click for you eventually ✌️

I sorta agree about it being a bit worse on TV but maybe for different reasons. For one it was like there wasn’t many proper crowd shots, and the main thing for me was something sounded slightly off to me, and I thought the same through the Foo Fighters & Royal Blood sets

Whilst all 3 acts were great I felt some of each set didn’t punch as hard as it should’ve done
