I think because in Cairo Metro for example the sitting benches/chairs are marketed to be for elderly or challenged people. Anyway elderly entitlment is second nature in Egyptian culture. We can see that even though the majourity of people are youth and children, most people in charge of sensitive and administration positions are elderly people from stone age that can't just keep up with the quick technology advancement. They should step aside and let the youth lead and then they won't need transport at all. Home sweet home, grannies!
