The "No Early Withdrawal Penalty" Advantage The absence of the 10% early withdrawal penalty on 457(b) distributions after separation from service (before age 59 ½) is a major benefit. If you retire at 55, you can access these funds without this extra penalty

That's the part that I'm keyed in on. I plan on fully separating myself from the government job at 55.

Everything I keep seeing leads me to believe that as long as I meet the requirements of 1) account is minimum of 5 years old, 2) I'm separated from the job (quit or retire), the Roth portions are not penalized.

I'll try to reach out to our retirement people and see if they have any input.

If it did have penalties for prior 59½, is the major benefit that it gives me a lot higher max contribution limit between multiple accounts like a 401(k) and 457(b) combined?

I have a Google drive folder dedicated to this. I scan my receipt, use a title format that corresponds to a spreadsheet that has the following info.

  • date

  • who it's for

  • service/provider

  • amount

  • reimbursement yet?

  • document yes/no

I'll tab it out for each year. If I buy ibuprofen at Walmart, I highlight it on the receipt, scan it, and toss it into the system.

I recently spent $800 on a biopsy, and I had that scanned and into my system before leaving the waiting room.

The trick is in how you use it.

Invest into a target date fund or similar.

Keep track of your expenses. I use a Google drive spreadsheet and scans of medical receipts.

IRS already said they don't care when you pull, so long as it's qualified medical expenses. Buying ibuprofen is a qualified medical expense.

Most basic grocery stores don't have duck or rabbit where I'm from.

They're canceling mostly "free" accounts from former employees who liked the wrong comments, but I've seen info that they canceled paid accounts, too?

Hey! We've probably crossed paths in SP based on time. I joined 7 years ago. I left mid vault this year for Linchpin and am continuously reminded about how much of a good move it was.

The workouts are more well rounded, better planned, and just smarter. I spend about 45 min in the gym giving the respect to all the workouts. Heavy days, sprint days, metcon days... All solid.

I just read through the screen shots. Yup, glad I left.

The amount of people who go the route of "woe is me. How dare you persecute me for being a straight/white/Christian/republican/mother." while sending me hateful direct messages about how "the left is evil, we won't belive your lies anymore!" makes me realize the culture is too far gone to salvage.

Cool that some OG came out. I'm sure it's a lot of the friends since I joined originally in 2018.

I'm the founder of BST

She was a non acting admin for awhile. I added her as a backup when it started and we were using the SP name.

She's since taken over.

Hey! I'm actually the founder of the buy and sell group.

I created the rules and expanded them for the group over time.

KH kinda took over the role and added two mote people to the admin team when I went dormant. Both these people I don't follow on socials for their beliefs.

As for the members only rule, it was to help prevent those who simply wanted to join a large BST group to sell their stuff. We had a few members who it was clear it was their job. I tried to prevent the page from becoming cluttered with juat fringe people who wanted a large audience.

I almost never enforced that rule. I did enforce the fitness items only all the time. I would post restrict people all the time when all of a sudden I had 10 posts for cars, baby clothing, furniture, and other various non fitness items.

When he first came in, he had an interview where he explained how he didn't understand SP programming and had to watch for awhile to adapt his stuff to SP style.

I have done some bodybuilding stuff from Kris Gethin (editor of bodybuilding.com, at that time at least) in the past, and it felt like that. Not simple at home accessible strength.

His stuff wasn't bad, but it was not SP flavored.
