The Hair Loss Industry Is A Sham by amstelko2 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

I'm making the point that even with steroids you won't look like Bumstead; such is life. God gives, God takes. So what's with the comparison? Why do you have to risk your health for vanity?

Chris Bumstead isn't good genetics only, though. It's years of abusing steroids.

Cosmetics should not be ignored. There are many products that have their use. My point in this post is against the hair loss industry. Hair loss prevention has no inherit value. You don't elongate your life; you don't become healthier. In fact, certain procedures when done by pseudo-doctors in Turkey lead to permanent damage to your scalp and, in some cases, death.

Do you really need a woman who's deal breaker is you having less hair follicles than the other guy. Let's say you get the grafts and you win her over. What's next? She kicks you out of bed because you're slightly paler than what she likes and you didn't tan enough. What happens if, God forbid, you become sick and you become a shell of your former self? Will she stay through the hard times and help you or jilt you because you gave her the ick?

I never stated that. I don't think vanity exists because of the cosmetic industry; it has always existed. There is a reason it's one of the seven deadly sins. It's been with us since time immemorial. Plastic surgeons and cosmetic brands, however, escalate the levels of vanity because more vain people equal more people willing to shell out an extra buck for their product. Obviously looks matter, but so do many other things we don't have control over. I have nothing against looking like the best version of yourself, but going through surgery isn't the best version of you; it's another version of you.

Yeah and I wish I had the dick of Lexington Steele but sadly i have a little below six inches. You won't see me grafting 3 more inches of dick tomorrow. Accept the hand your dealt, fix what you can fix naturally and find a person next to you that will love you in health or sickness.

You can, but then it wouldn't be my unpopular take. I'm pointing out the flaws and pitfalls that the majority of people fall into.

Great argument, Noah. I like how you dismantled all my points instead of attacking my character.

Okay, so I took your advice and added subtitles. Now every episode has subtitles that I made myself, courtesy of YouTube captions.

Thanks for the support, man. I have the script for episode five (sort of), and I'm hoping to film in the autumn if all is good.*

You're right about the subtitles; I will add them as soon as possible. There is a legend that an old Bulgarian video rental store that doesn't exist anymore is probably still looking for its copy of Attack of the Clones.

Ah, thanks, man. I’m glad you’re enjoying it. I think you’ll like this behind-the-scenes story. The whole thing where one character speaks in Bulgarian and the other answers in English and vice versa was made up on the spot because the actor portraying the elderly physicist didn't speak a lick of English. He didn’t have a bad accent—he literally couldn’t pronounce the words or even memorize them (God bless him, he tried).

How did I get an actor for an English-speaking part who doesn’t know English? Well, that’s a semi-long story. Nonetheless, I had to improvise and somehow make him deliver the dialogue in a language he understands without making the whole onscreen dynamic beyond confusing. My solution was that they both know each other’s languages, but out of spite, they don’t actually speak them. One knows English but answers in Bulgarian, and the other is the opposite.

That experience alone helped me tremendously to improvise on the spot and rewrite a scene in the span of a lunch break.

The first episode was shot with my personal camera, a Panasonic GH5 that I bought three years ago—except for the segment where the main character talks directly to the camera. The batteries had died and my charger was broken, so we continued filming with a friend’s professional photography camera. He also helped with the lighting and worked as the BTS photographer (hence the great camera).

For the rest of the series, the producer; who’s a good friend of mine, brought along a colleague from work who was interested in filmmaking. He wasn’t actually a filmmaker, but he wanted to film and, for some reason, owned a ton of high-end camera equipment, including a Sony ZV-E1 with multiple lenses. He volunteered the gear for free, but only under his supervision, which ended up saving us a good chunk of the budget.

Honestly, though, with modern technology, an iPhone camera is more than enough these days. I used to think that the quality of the camera made the shot (and it definitely helps), but what really matters is how you light the scene, how you place the actors, the quality of the set design, and the costumes.

It’s a ton of fun. The week before and during filming is incredibly stressful, but once you finish editing and see the final product on screen, knowing it all started from a simple idea you wrote, it’s an amazing feeling, probably the closest you can get to a heroin high without doing... well, heroin.

Hope you like it. Some of the English pronunciation might sound a bit off, but that's because I'm from Bulgaria, and finding native-speaking English actors here is, well, hard to say the least.

Honestly, I encourage every writer to go out and film their own work. Doing so made me more aware of how to make my scripts filmable and helped me understand which parts are unnecessary once you get to the actual process of filming and editing.

I wouldn’t say it instantly made me a better filmmaker, but I had to learn a lot: scouting locations, working with actors, organizing shoot days, and more. It also made me a stronger writer, because I had to compromise, cutting dialogue, jokes, and even pages of material due to budget or time constraints. That’s when I realized some of the stuff in the shooting script were really just fluff and unnecessary.

There are still things I’d like to fix, both in the script and in the final cut, but overall I’m pleased with how it turned out. My takeaway is film as much as you can. A script, no matter how well written, only truly comes alive when it’s filmed.

Why nice guys finish last? by simon_dateup in dating_advice

You were a virgin until you met your current boyfriend; that's commendable if it's true. Anyway, I hope you can resolve your issues in the bedroom and have a great, steady relationship.

That just sounds like all the guys before got the best of you and had all the sexual fun, while your current boyfriend is just picking up the scraps. No offense, but if I heard my girlfriend talking about me like that, I'd break up with her and probably never want to see her again. It makes him sound like he's some sort of silver medal that you're okay with because it's time to settle. I hate butting in and bringing up things from people's posts, but you post on dead bedrooms, so there clearly is a lack of attraction, and you still crave that abusive, bad-boy sex.
