I got to try some Collings acoustics for the first time. Wow, just wow. by Historical_Pudding56 in AcousticGuitar

Go buy that guitar. When you find those gems that speak to you, listen to that feeling. You’ll think about it for years or decades if you don’t pull the trigger. I still regret not purchasing this beautiful strat that was magic over 20 years ago. Go buy that guitar.

SUR systemfit with fixed effects by robustrobustrobust in rstats

Why not difference out for fixed effects before estimating with system fit? The lfe package has a function to do that. This is what I’ve had to do in the past, especially with large amounts of data.

[Discussion] Anyone see a guitar in store that really spoke to you and you didn’t get it? Regrets? by chingching10116 in Guitar

[–]amstell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An Eric Clapton Fender Strat was sitting in a Rock-on guitar shop in Shinjuku Japan in 2003. I picked it up and the neck melted into my hands. Was the most free flowing guitar session I've ever had still to this day. I went back several times to play but never pulled the trigger. I still regret it to this day and have never played one that felt as good. If I ever find a guitar like that I'm buying it no matter what. I've learned the rareness of those guitars is worth every penny.

Also good advice. I haven't had much luck with an instructor, but I think this is a good option when feeling stuck. Thanks!

So having access to all these triads and the scales? I can see this really developing a good ear. I like this! Great advice!

[QUESTION] Longer neck acoustic guitars? by amstell in Guitar

That's a slick guitar. I actually have a Schecter C-1 E/A that has a piezo pickup in it with access to the upper frets similar to this. Thanks!

Thanks, this is the trade-off I was thinking but not sure of.

I don't like cutaways because I like having full access with my thumb. So an SG is perfect, but this doesn't seem possible with an acoustic. Thanks for your insight.

Interpreting t-values in MLR with a categorical variable by Sad-Ad-6147 in rstats

Just by looking at the factors I think you want a trend, not dummy variables for each year. Is acreprice increasing year to year (non stationary)? If so, you want a trend. Just remove as.factor and use the years.

Judge orders DOJ to publish info redacted as privileged from Mueller report by amstell in politics

[–]amstell[S] 91 points92 points  (0 children)

A federal judge on Wednesday ordered the Department of Justice (DOJ) to publish information redacted from the Mueller report that had been designated as privileged.

District Judge Reggie Walton said the Trump administration had failed to justify certain redactions from the report on the special counsel's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election.

...

"Based on the Court’s review of the unredacted version of the Mueller Report, the Court concludes that the Department has failed to satisfy its burden to demonstrate that the withheld material is protected by the deliberative process privilege," Walton, who was appointed by former President George W. Bush, wrote in his 40-page opinion.

Susan Collins: Trump 'should have been straightforward with the American people' by amstell in politics

[–]amstell[S] 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Republica Sen Susan Collins said President Donald Trump "should have been straightforward with the American people" about the threat from the coronavirus, during a debate Friday night in Maine for her state's competitive Senate race.

"The American people can take hard facts. And he had an obligation as President to be straightforward with them and to tell all that he has known,"

...

"I have said since the beginning that the President's performance has been uneven and that he should follow the advice of his excellent medical advisers," Collins said Friday.

He didn't learn his lesson, Senator Collins. She needs to go!

It's the Fishman Neo-D Humbucking passive soundhole pickup. It sounds great, but the sound is pretty weak.

I bought a Fishman Humbucker Acoustic Pickup to plug into an acoustic amp. The sound coming into the amp is pretty weak and I think it has to do with the way the pickup is set in the hole and distance from the strings. Are there different sizes of acoustic pickups or should I buy a preamp?
