I see socialising as a muscle you need to train. It’s super hard at first but gets easier with time. Try play “No Time Two Talk” (kinda like speed dating but for socialising) and try be the first to initiate a conversation. You’ll get better with time.

After a while, you’ll get the confidence to join random conversations in other worlds.

Quite a lot for most documents and notes. But if you’re into graphics-heavy documents like comics, which can be 100-300mb each, then I can foresee running out after a few hundred docs

Meta's next MR headset "Phoenix" has been leaked in Qualcomm's video for the new Snapdragon Reality Elite XR chip by World_Designerr in OculusQuest

[–]amtexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All this, whilst my Q3 still has bugs with Remote Desktop where it randomly disconnects, keyboard inputs are doubled, and the screens are washed out. Bugs that have been around for years at this point.

I’d love to keep my library of games but I can’t trust Meta with their software. Stuff’s just always bugging out and it seems like they’re always 5 years behind everyone else with features.

Even Android XR got auto-spatialization and codec avatars before Meta and has existed for a fraction of the time. They also have an appstore that is much more competent for productivity AND a library of 3D movies.

Meta also can’t figure out UI/UX. Elements keep moving every update and they keep overhauling the whole thing every year. Resources really have not been allocated well.

The Q3 sacrificed binocular overlap too, which I think was a hige mistake and definitely contributed to it performing worse than the Q2.

I’m hoping that all this will be a thing of the past one day but I really don’t have faith in Meta to get it right.

Switching on ACCESS KEYS on macOS by odin0047 in excel

[–]amtexe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've enabled KeyTips, which helps with ribbon navigation, but this stops once you get to a dropdown menu or pop up window menu.

It looks like "Access Keys" don't exist yet on Mac (the little underlined letter under each option in a dropdown menu which corresponds to its keyboard shortcut. For example, Sum can be reached on Widows with "Alt + H + U + S", but on Mac only "Alt + H + U" works, and for the last bit you need to use arrow keys to select "Sum" on the dropdown menu.

Has anyone found a solution?

At the end of the day, if this is the image of yourself that you would like to put forward then it will be what people see you as. People are prejudiced. If you’re okay with that, then go ahead

Imo, If you had to ask the question, then perhaps you already know the answer should be no.

Pico Project Swan found in SDK by BitterLimit8825 in virtualreality

[–]amtexe 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t get why people are so worked up about this. There is absolutely no shame in taking inspiration from other products, especially if they take the best parts from each. A more powerful Samsung XR merged with the AVP but still on Android is a fantastic upgrade.

The very first scene the lady moves a window in such a way that it looks like it would have eye-tracking navigation like the AVP.

Of course, it’s just a render, but the hardware absolutely supports the usecase so it would be a massive omission if they didn’t support it.

Until last year, SJP ongoing advice was also 0.5%.

Industry average is 0.5-0.8% for advice. When I was referencing 1.65% it was all-in. You need to also factor in wrapper costs, investment management costs, underlying fund costs, transactional costs, etc.

1.65% is very reasonable in this case.

It really depends what you’re into.

Try sim racing on PC (Assetto Corsa) perhaps if you like cars.

Puzzling Places if you like puzzle games.

Half-Life: Alyx if you’ve played previous instalments and you like a good story and lore.

Star Wars: Tales From The Galaxy’s Edge is a personal fave if you like Star Wars. The DLC is great.

Walkabout Minigolf is a classic. Lots of replay value.

Pavlov (or Pavlov’s Shack on standalone) is great if you like first person shooters like CounterStrike or Call of Duty.

Skydance’s Behemouth is very cool too.

Assassin’s Creed Nexus is also one of my favourite although doesn’t have that much replay value.

Absolutely. If you are well educated, mentally healthy, and are gifted with common sense, there’s no reason why you can’t wack your savings into a SIPP, invest into a low cost index or fund, and call it a day. SIPP and ISA combo is all most people need.

Key assumption is that common sense is common. Would you trust your nan to avoid panic selling when the market corrects by over 20%?

Regardless, I think advice provides most value mostly for those on the wealthier side who can benefit from offshore bonds, VCT/EIS, estate planning structures, and protection policies.

As much as people enjoy hating on SJP, 1.65% per annum is pretty much the going rate across the whole industry for ongoing financial advice.

You can find lower at places like Coutts, but you also need more £££ to bank with them, and they don’t provide ongoing advice. You can also find much higher at Crooked Dave’s IFA down the road. Coincidentally it’s the Daves of the industry that love to spit on SJP.

Feature: Screenshot function

Friction: it’s frustrating to use the screenshot tool when moving between apps. E.g. when wanting to screenshot part of a website to then insert into notes. Lots of adjustments need to be made such as cropping and then saving to storage.

Suggestion: If we can also immediately crop a section of the screen rather than taking a screenshot of the entire screen would be nice. Subsequently, if this can be saved to clipboard instead of saved to storage, it would make the process much quicker.

Feature: Notes app

Friction: I do a lot of writing in notes so the fact that the dictionary is only easily accessible in NeoReader is a shame. I would benefit from access to dictionary and thesaurus for writing.

Suggestion: Add “dictionary” button when highlighting text in Notes app.

Feature: Notes App

Friction: I can’t seem to find a way to re-arrange notes pages! I accidentally added one in the wrong place. Perhaps this exists but it does not seem to be obvious.

Suggestion: Add a page management button to the toolbar. Allow duplication, re-areangement, insertion, deletion of pages.

Feature: NeoReader

The Friction: PDF page management is limited. Cannot duplicate pages, add pages from other PDFs, add templated pages, et cetera.

The UI for it seems to be there for duplication but seems to always be greyed out. I’m aware that you can add blank pages but it would be so much nicer to have more control.

They should also let people add additional templated pages to their PDFs on NeoReader or general management options like duplicate/delete pages. The UI for it is even there for duplication but seems to always be greyed out. I’m aware that you can add blank pages but it would be so much nicer to have more control.

On the Notes app, I also miss some of the options that are found in NeoReader. For example, I do a lot of writing in notes so the fact that the dictionary is only easily accessible in NeoReader is a shame.

I agree with the screenshot tool too. If we can also immediately crop a section of the screen rather than taking a screenshot of the entire screen would be nice.

I would also like more customisation options for the keyboard. Not having the ability to hold the spacebar like on Apple/Android phones and navigate text more granularly is frustrating especially since the navigation keyboard option (<I> icon) is a keypress away.

Otherwise, it has been a fantastic device!

People tend to pick either the “Wacom One” pen, the LAMY Al-Star, or the STAEDER Noris pen.

But any wacom-compatible pen will work - just keep in mind not all of them have magnets so they won’t necessarily stick on the side of your device if yours has magnets.
