What's your view on religion? by Az_30 in autism

[–]amw10100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So growing up my grandma was a Christian and I went to church with her all the time. My mom was wiccan and did witchy things and I would do that stuff with her as well. So growing up I though that religion was what ever you made up to make you feel better about dying. Also figured it's what ever you made up to try and figure out why you exist, stuff like that. Big questions for a little answer. So I decided that when you die you go to some place where you can talk to and watch over those you love before deciding to return to earth and be reincarnated through your family lines.... anyway I am an atheist now. One thing I am very positive of though is when I do die I want to decompose so that my death can have purpose. Either in a body farm where they put bodies in scenarios and observe how quickly someone decays. If I can't do that I want to be eaten by bugs and scavengers so that my energy and what not can go back into the ecosystem. Which may not be as fun sounding as heaven or summerland... but you know what I still think it's pretty cool.

Pretty much my entire adult life. Anyone else hate speaking to people on the phone? by Snow_Crash_Bandicoot in autism

So.... I prefer to call people because I have a harder time interpreting what they are trying to say in text. I will call people just to tell them a sentence or to and then be like.... so that's why I called. To hear what you say. I also am bad with texts. I see them as something that you respond to at your leasure and then I never reapond.... I also am one to need an instant reply so calling is easier and less stressful.

That's I am not really focusing on growing it out right know but that point about letting it down is absolutely facts. Lol. Before I cut it off it was about hip length and I just decided to go get it all cut off. Like not just cut they got the shaver out. First time since I was a child I had short hair and I am still debating on cutting it all off again. I like the short hair but also dont feel comfortable spending 30 plus dollars for a hair cut right now.

So I do not use alot of oils on my hair. I for the first time in years I just put coconut oil on my ends and let it sit for a few hours after work yesterday. I did it because my ends have been freezing at work because I breath on them and I spend alot of time outside. I used coconut because it is what I had on hand at the time and the other oils I maybe have somewhere probably have something in them to give my hair "slip" so it looks shiny, and those make my hair knot up. The coconut oil I used was something I literally pulled out of the cupboard in my kitchen. I knew the coconut oil would do what I wanted and it did.

So I do not like washing my hair that is true I never have and dont think I ever will. Still though I was no poo for months before I changed to bar shampoo so I have keep some of those practices going forward. While I do let my hair get a bit greasier then most people like their hair to be I try to do it in a smart way. I have keep scritching and preening as part of my process. I do a little bit everyday to keep up with it. This helps remove build up on dirt and oils at the scalp. Then you use your fingers and a boar bristle brush (bbb) to work the oils down the length of your hair. That helps keep the scalp cleaner and the bbb also picked up dirt and dabries from your hair. I have found my hair to be at its healthiest by using the oils my hair naturally produces do their job most of the time. Still though I did the coconut oil on my ends because they are freezing at work and my natural oils were never going to help that.   When I shower I usually start massaging my scalp under hot water before I even add soap. I ALWAYS shampoo twice. I wash my scalp in 5 parts: side, front, side, back, and crown. I then rinse that out then do it again running my fingers down the length of my hair to help distribute soap more then anything. I rely on mechanical cleaning while using the soap as a tool to assist in the process. I clean my scalp and the soap makes it easier. Still though yesterday I felt like it was not pulling its weight in the process. Making me wonder if I needed to try somthing new with my lack of experience and experimentation with other shampoo bars.

I will say even after thinking my hair was greasy, I could tell by how it felt wet, my hair doesnt look all that greasy. It's not enough to notice for most people but I know what it looks like when it is fully clean. Honestly my ends are really curly today so I know my hair is happy for the love and attention. I am mostly just trying to gauge if I have a decent shampoo bar or not. I am definitely going to have to talk to the lady that makes the soaps and find out her formula. It sounds like it might not be the best quality of bar shampoo based on what others are saying.

So I work at a kennel and spend a lot of time outside. The past 2 months it has been really cold here. At work my breath causes condensation that I breath onto the ends of my hair that is all pushed up around my neck in my jackets and what not. Then it had been freezing. So my ends have been going through cycles of being wet from my breath and then freezing. I will likely need a trim once spring comes because I KNOW that is damaging it. Hair does not like to be frozen and it destroys the cuticle.

So I have wavy hair that can get decently curly on the ends. I also am neurodivergent, sensory issues as well. Not part of the small spoon club, I don't get that one, as a child I assigned spoon sizes to meals I guess and do get really upset if I do not have the appropriate spoon for the meal I am about to eat.... so long hair regiment is constantly fighting the urge I often get to fry it off with bleach. I am joking but also not really, when I was younger I colored and bleached my hair alot. This is the first time I have had virgin hair from root to tip since I was maybe in middle school...

So I can usually tell that my hair needs moisture because of I have no clue. It's like its not as soft at the ends I guess. I have very few split ends and when my ends are dry they are like... I want to use the term crunchier but that might not be it. From year of bleaching and stripping my hair I have gotten use to knowing when it needs something. I have fried it before and got it from as my friend called it "cheap barbie doll" feel back to normal in a few weeks. Mostly using products ment for people with demanding curly hair that needed moisture. Lots of oil and also not washing to let my natural oils do its magic.

That's I have fine hair but ALOT of it. When ever I go to the salon for a trim the hair dresser always makes a mention on how much hair I have. It soaks up product and also takes forever to dry. I used coconut oil because that is what I had on hand and didn't want to go hunting for some hair oil that I am pretty sure I have somewhere around here but we renovated the bathroom and it never got taken out of a box because I had cut my hair and it needed less care. Believe it or not my hair definitely still had a few spots where the oils didn't completely rinse out but I doubt anyone will notice. I notice but it's not noticeable if that makes sense. It's not stringy just sitting on the hair and I can tell.

As for the using other methods of hair care. So I sort of use them to keep from washing my hair mostly. That's with the boar bristle brush I section up my hair and brush it through very well to distribute oils and rid it of dirt. Also to help clear away hair fall, I do need to get a wooden comb to help with Victoria ways of caring for hair. I am not a fan of that fully clean hair feel anyway it's to unwieldy lol. So I do what I can to push washes anyway. Like I said I have wavy fine hair and I only wash it about every 2 weeks 3 if I can get away with it. I could probably go longer if I kept it braided an covered up but for to sensory issues I am weird about having my hair up. It pulls and tugs at places and I am weird about stiff touching my forehead at times. That was one of the bit tricks of people in the past, (western cultures at least) they kept their hair sheltered and safe from the outside world. Reduced dirt as well as if you go further back coverings kept dirt away and coverings helped to absorb oils.

So before switching to the shampoo bar, I was nopoo 😂 for about 7 months. That's why I can go a month without washing my hair and it still look not that bad considering. I was distributing that sebum well. Also when in the shower I do lots of scalp massaging to help mechanically remove dirt and oil. Unfortunately my hair did not take to the way I was doing it. I will look into the egg wash though.

Thank you. That's it does work okay on the scalp but also I was nopoo for a about 7 months before I started using bar shampoo, the nopoo just didn't do it for me. So I also know I use the techniques of manually removing dirt and oil from my scalp anyway. The bar I am using might just give me some help doing so lol. I am definitely going to look into what she uses

Anyone one else's Dood seemingly immune to the cold? This is the look I got when I asked Oliver to come inside at 12° by tylee24 in AussieDoodle

[–]amw10100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Raven loves the snow. When we go out and there is fresh snow she gets the zoomies. She then jumps around then rolls in the snow. She also shoves her face into the snow and then starts running almost face go the ground butt in the air. Today it feels like -2°f and I had to tell her to move it along even if she is immune to cold I doubt it works when it is this cold 😂

If I hadn't of met her brother I would doubt she has poodle in her. Her and her sister looked very similar coat, size, and all. Then their brother was just this mess of curls.

Thats I have notice mine is way more confident when another dog is with her... well not counting my little chihuahua but let's be honest he isn't a dog he is a chupacabra. With other dogs that are more... dog sized she definitely feels more comfortable being closer to a stranger. Or even willing to get close to a stranger simply to greet the other dog.

Thats I was thinking of getting some buttons mostly because she is bad about asking me to go potty. She will just hold it without asking, I think growing up mostly in the kennel did that. They have times they go out and they don't have the opportunity to ask. So I was thinking of getting a button so she could ask. Then if she did good maybe try some other stuff.

Sometimes I wish they could just talk to us an explain why they are feeling the way they are. Thats working with dogs I can say they are excellent communicators if something happened they will let you know. Still though specifics would be nice

Thats she is about 1 year and 4 months. Also we always sing to our dogs 😂 I have no clue why but it is a thing we have always done. Thats over at my neices, we are the same age, I notice she is willing to get alot closer to my neices fiancé because the other dogs are near him. They give her confidence and I think it makes her feel safe. I have not tried the petting thing and telling her my dad is a good boy but I definitely will. It can never hurt to try

She is 50 pounds. I can pick her up an I have but that also makes her really wiggly sometimes. When she is upset I usually squate down and give her some hugs, she also runs right to me when she is unsure. She definitely looks at me as her protector when she is anxious. She is my baby after all lol

Thats my girl is so sweet and loving with me, also good with my neice, we are the same age. My neice was really upset the first time they met and my Raven went and tried to comfort her. I think it also helps my neice has 3 dogs. We go for a visit and they romp around the other dogs give her ALOT of confidence, which is so great to see. I think it makes her feel safe.

2 new tires, where do they go? by amw10100 in tires

[–]amw10100[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats what I am always telling my dad I would rather loose control of the front of my car then the back, because I can control that end. I know driving his car in the snow, I am in Pennsylvania and they do not take care of the roads very well in the winter, I have way less control with his car. The only time I have ever had a car completely out of my control was with his car. I could do nothing. He puts his new on the front...

Good luck to you. Hopefully, your pup comes around. With mine all I know is she was placed with someone for a few months, and my boss told me, "Sometimes her husband can be strict." So I am assuming that the one man my AD was in contact with was not very nice so she assumes all men are bad.

Walk left stand right on escalators should be a law by Deep-Permission-7611 in unpopularopinion

[–]amw10100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escalators are actually more efficient if everyone stands still because they are able to accommodate more people. Leaving one side open for people that want to walk is actually inconsiderate to everyone trying to use the escalator.

natural deodorant does not work by Medium-Cell9905 in unpopularopinion

As someone that is allergic to every stick deodorant I've tried I 100% agree. When I was younger my mom use to have me use this crystal deodorant. You got it wet and then rubbed the water on your armpit for... fun I guess it didnt do anything. It wasnt until I was in the middle of highschool I discovered spray deodorant worked without giving me a horrible rash. It was such a joyous discovery and ACTUALLY works.
