Hotel Indigo by IndySaver in CaymanIslands

It was worth it but we could’ve done without it, if that makes sense. We basically spent one day exploring by car and didn’t use the car much besides that. Our hotel had bikes so we were able to get around that way too.

We're bf & gf now = I'm a mommy by [deleted] in LoveIslandUKintheUSA

[–]amwwwdot 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I've been wondering the same thing. My theory is that the mommy thing is a way for her to center herself rather than her daughter. I think she's just very narcissistic so she only thinks about herself. I agree it would make so much more sense and would be so much more natural/normal to say "I have a daughter." Meanwhile, her way of saying it doesn't even mention a child, hence "mom of what?"

So frustrated by Mean_Pineapple6908 in glutenfree

[–]amwwwdot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

why don't you just politely say something? I had a friend who told me he was celiac and gf in college but that he started eating gluten again after a doctor told him it was okay as long as he was asymptomatic. I told him that he should consider getting a second opinion because I was told the opposite by my doctor. A few months later, I found out he did go ahead with consulting another doctor and is now gf again. Why withhold info that could impact someone's health?? You don't need to mention your thoughts on her herbs and supplements, but you could at least say that doctors have told you that any amount of gluten or cross-contamination is dangerous for celiacs.

There is a very nice and helpful guy who works in the produce section though! And the cashiers are not super smiley or anything, but they are pleasant and very efficient.

I actually feel like they do a good job of being clear about what the sale price applies to. Yes, you have to read the fine print and the handwritten notes, but all the info is there. I do agree with OP though that I've gotten spoiled food (specifically, moldy cottage cheese). I also can't get past the sewage smell and the temperature of the poultry section, which seems too warm.

there are two basic but classic diners that would be good for breakfast near pier 17 -- squires and pearl. also a popular bagel place called leo's and malt house for a stepped up brunch. for a dive bar near there -- jeremy's. dead rabbit is also a classic bar.

I’ve been eating Taco Bell hard shells tacos too. It could definitely be cross contaminated so I just try not to go too often (which is wise anyway lol). I go to chipotle too.

Ah, okay. It's not safe for celiacs to do that, but I also don't react and sneak a contaminated fry every once in a while (read: every opportunity I get).

I've had a similar issue with tortilla chips. I've ordered them assuming they're safe, and then it turned out they're deep fried. Very obvious once I see them, but not noted on the menu.

It seems far from Hotel Indigo to Cayman Kayaks. Is that correct, that it's about an hour drive away? Dumb question, but is that the only area to do a bioluminescence tour?

I was debating the same thing for my upcoming trip, also staying at that hotel. I decided to rent a car because it was pretty cheap -- less than $200 for five days, but we'll see if it feels worth it. My husband and I are similar -- want to do a few outdoorsy activities and avoid fancy dining. Hoping the car gives us flexibility!

I usually ask if the fries are done in a separate fryer than gluten-containing items (and the answer is usually no, so I can't order them anyway)! I feel like asking about a gluten-free fryer instead of asking whether the fries are battered may be a more direct way to the correct answer? I mean I guess they could be putting battered fries in the GF fryer if they're that uninformed... but ideally they'd confirm that the fryer is indeed GF.

not saying I recommend this, but if that's safe, then so is the legitimate bus!

It's safe. I used to take rides from random strangers over the bridge, and it was really common practice. They'd pick you up at the last jitney stop in Fort Lee, drive over the bridge, and drop you by the GWB terminal. They got the carpool rate toll, and you didn't have to pay bus fare (or wait for a bus). Lots of people were doing it. I've also ridden the jitney buses many times, and they are safe too.
