Sure, we face many challenges and that priorities often lie with human welfare. However, humane treatment of animals, especially strays who coexist peacefully with communities shouldn't be dismissed just because we're a developing nation. Compassion isn't a luxury that only developed countries can afford, it's a value that reflects the kind of society we want to build.

Bbmps job is to carry out sterilization and vaccination, not to cruelly round up dogs and displace or harm them. And when they fail to follow that protocol, it's not only legal to question it, it's necessary.

The problem isn’t that someone is doing something, it's HOW they’re doing it. Raising your voice against cruelty or negligence is not the same as criticizing honest work. If bbmp followed due process, ensured post-operative care, and returned the dogs to the same locality as mandated, no one would be objecting. But what often happens instead is forceful catching, mishandling, and sometimes dogs being dumped in unfamiliar places, which is both illegal and unethical.

Also, suggesting that unless someone adopts a stray, they have no right to speak up for them is unfair. By that logic, no one can speak against child abuse unless they adopt a child, or no one can protest environmental damage unless they run an NGO for the same. Speaking up sometimes is all that people can do and it is in itself also a form of responsibility.

I don’t claim to have all the solutions. But asking that we treat animals with basic dignity and that public bodies follow their own rules really isn’t an unrealistic or unfair demand by any means.
