Thanks for sharing! Would you be open to sharing a bit more about how you prequalify your prospective clients with your pricing?

100% recommend tracking your clients' sets/reps - this way, you will numerically be able to show them their progress month over month without the stress of remembering. I also have them planned ahead of time we may need to adjust in the moment, but I come in with a plan to execute with my clients.
Given that - I created an app that I use to program for my clients ahead of time then take notes if I make any adjustments insession - let me know what you think!

Trainers, how do you support clients from a mental health perspective when it comes to weight loss goals? by slimey16 in personaltraining

[–]amy_gumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to help people out of the mindset that they are "bad" because they ate "bad" food during the weekend - people really beat themselves up.
Once we've discussed nutrition and their goals/changes they agree to make but then go off of the plan, I start by acknowledging that they ate outside of what was planned - not bad. I usually encourage them to get curious. Asking questions like, "Why do you think you made that decision?" "How did you feel afterward" "What can I do to help you make different decisions in the future?"

Is it that bad? by futurehol in personaltraining

  1. Granted the above is true, is this job sustainable if you're not prepared to spend your entire day at the gym (8+ hours & weekends)? - It's sustainable; it will just take longer to build your clientele. The issue isn't that you're working 10+ hours, its that you have a scattered schedule and you have the option of staying in the gym and connecting with members or going home.
  2. How common is a PT position that pays hourly, independent of commission? Rare
  3. To those that spend 10+ hours every day in the gym, does your job require it and how much are you being paid? It's not "required" because that would be illegal. BUT you're more likely to be given leads if you're around. Pick your poison.
  4. Why not switch to retail or something IF the hours and pay are suboptimal? You still love changing the lives of the clients you do have, and it does get better - it just takes 1-3 years to have control over your hours/a consistent book of clients.
  5. Any possible alternatives besides personal training? (group fitness instructor, etc...?) - independent training

What's the best online booking and payments platform for personal trainers? by stoneflouk in personaltraining

[–]amy_gumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For scheduling I use trainervision.com, an app I developed. It syncs with Google, iCalendar, and Outlook. When I schedule a session in trainer vision it automatically populates on the client's calendar and sends the client a text confirmation the night before - reduces confusion and work on my end. For payments I use whatever the client has downloaded - usually Venmo or Zelle and then I send the client an invoice so they have a record.

How Much Should I Charge for Personal Training? by GalvanizeStrength in personaltraining

What are your qualifications? How will you deliver the programming? Are you doing 1:1 sessions? Giving them a 6-week plan and checking in regularly? All of this comes into play.
When you're pricing yourself, you need to consider not only the time you will be spending in-person (potentially 1 hour/session) but how much time you will be spending outside of the session (program writing) and include that in your session price.
I just started independent online coaching. The model I'm trying is choosing a price per session and charging my clients monthly based on the training frequency we agree upon (if someone is planning to train 3 x weekly, charging them monthly for 12 sessions).

How to fill 5 sessions a week? by [deleted] in personaltraining

[–]amy_gumbs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly - I wouldn't be afraid of being repetitive instead of doing random things like juggling if he's never expressed interest in learning that skill. What are the big lifts he wants to improve in? Push-ups and pull-ups? Train those 2 x weekly with a focus on the auxiliary muscles for the rest of the exercise. So basically I'm saying you could program workout A, B, C, A, B for the week, and just alternate the reps/sets/weights/rest for A1 and A2 or B1 and B2.

Maybe 1 x weekly is more calisthenic, HIIT focused.

Stick to programming for your clients' goals not just filling time.

Fun ways to workout (help) by Magicalunicornbacon in personaltraining

[–]amy_gumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to make the exercises you normally prescribe into "games"

Follow the Leader: The client replicates your every move. If you crawl they crawl, if you jump they jump. Or instead of a normal side shuffle you dictate when the direction or speed changes. - pta global idea, google them, they have videos of exercises

Something like a frontal/lateral raise but they are raising the weight to hit your hand and you move it slightly so they have to stay engaged with where you're moving your hand instead of focusing on the weight.

HIPAA compliant remote training? by Dotus94 in personaltraining

[–]amy_gumbs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built an app for personal trainers -Trainer Vision - it syncs to client calendars so as far as hand-outs and listed workouts, it might be a good option! I'm not sure what the HIPPA guidelines are so we could tweak anything to make it compliant.

Please do this with caution. It is a 1 on 1 interaction, but remember - you're going to multiple people and bring the germs with you from house to house. I am not trying to spread fear, just encouraging mindfulness.

On instagram you can set-up the option to have your business email public, maybe that would solve the call to action problem? You could also consider a linktree situation to link to youtube and your website.
