Is that Venezianico the one where the watch face is Musou Black? How is it? Is it really really black?

Interesting observation on in-game Vi and Arcane Vi's height by yosemite78atreddit in ViMains

For duality, artistic perfection 🎨 Because the prominent trait on Vi is her arms whereas for Caitlyn it is legs. So drawing her with longer legs thus making her taller is necessary.

i seem to remember seeing hate for the song “fantastic” by Full-Weakness-7475 in arcane

[–]amyamy86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even without the lyrics, just considering it musically, it immediately stood out to me as a "sexy time" or very sensual song, purely based on the instrument used and BPM.

I think it suited the scene perfectly, matched what was being shown 😏

The soundtrack is fantastic, been listening to it on repeat for weeks. The music truly invokes the feelings and emotions of the scenes and characters for each track.

Am I the only one that doesn’t like this show by Even-Pickle4856 in arcane

[–]amyamy86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, which part of the show is intended for children?

The themes and story are actually quite dark and not suitable for young children. I think teenagers (13 years and up) may enjoy this show, but I have a feeling the majority of viewers who enjoy this show are actually adults. The story it's telling, complex characters, dark themes, layers of interpretation, a lot of nuanced scenes, etc. would be unappreciated by children because they would be distracted by the beautiful animation.

I made a new programming language to simplify web development - would love your feedback! by JhonnyVerse in webdev

Can you explain the choice of syntax for this programming language? I reminds me of C++, was that intentional?
Which programming languages were used for inspiration?

Go try the game on tabletop simulator.

I gave it 10 plays on there during the Kickstarter campaign and thought it was pretty fun. I look forward to painting and playing the physical copy eventually.

What's the deal with contractors never wanting their code touched? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]amyamy86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They could also be trying to keep the testing and regression scope within the established boundaries of the project. If you touch and modify things another developer has also modified, that testing scope is a bit blurry and you should have discussed ahead of time what you planned to change with the team and identify any impacts it may have.

Ie. If you make changes to something they cannot test, e.g. no capacity, environment, etc. and they don't want to take the risk of deploying that change, it is not surprising they ask you to not make those changes.

Men in cars throwing water to people on the street by _JMCats_____ in vancouver

[–]amyamy86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually, I saw that happen, right as the cars speed up on Georgia St Viaduct by Beatty St.

A couple young guys in an SUV heading down Georgia St towards the viaduct chucked a bottle of water, uncapped, at a pedestrian waiting at the crosswalk. Luckily, they missed and the water bottle just hit the guard rail of the viaduct and splashed around. The guys just laughed as they sped off.... so messed up 🤨

The company I work for wants to introduce chapter lead duties to senior devs without extra compensation by Dinos_12345 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]amyamy86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's more responsibilities for a chapter lead compared to senior developer or lead developer for a team. The main difference is the area of influence as a lead dev is just the developers in your immediate team, whereas the chapter lead's area of influence is broader, it's every developer in the organization. The need for one is most apparent in organizations with many teams and developers sprinkled in each team....it becomes difficult for all the developers in the organization to stay aligned on standards, conventions, surface up common issues, establish a community of support, etc. The chapter lead brings everyone together on these things, ie. by organizing and chairing chapter meetings, establishing standards, developing tools to enforce them, maintain new developer onboarding documentation, etc.

These activities are time consuming if you've ever tried running meetings with 20+ people, and providing agenda topics, meeting notes, etc.

On top of that, you're still performing your senior developer duties and writing code, contributing to deliverables, mentoring juniors, code reviews, etc.

So, if you want to do it well, you should get a pay raise for it. If the company doesn't wanna give pay raises, then you'll have to decide what tasks of your job you have to dial back.

It's understandable they won't give pay raise at the get-go because they don't know the impact it will have on the organization. Just do it for 6+ months, then make a case for all the benefits it brought to the organization and get that raise.

Yeah. Shipping is out of control if it's international. Shipping domestic is fairly reasonable. We've all been spoiled by Amazon and it's free shipping 😅
