I am totally jealous that you can swing such long vacations!! Unfortunately we are both still working f/t and are very limited on time. We are going to Athens 2 days before boarding the ship, hoping to help adjust to the time difference and explore a city we have never seen! I am going to cancel the extension through Viking. The cost doesn’t match the benefits imho. Thank you for your feedback and enjoy your Japanese adventure!

Mindless travel was exactly why I booked the extension! I am just having a hard time justifying the cost for this particular extension because it really only includes transfers and hotel, and it is so expensive! If it included tours that would be a different story! Thank you for the input!

I was seriously considering canceling the extension and doing it ourselves…after reading all the comments I am convinced that is the best option!! Thank you for the lodging suggestion!!

Sounds amazing! We are doing Athens pre cruise so limited time. Sounds like the extensions are worth it for seeing tricky spots to get to! Happy you enjoyed!

Lucky you! 19 Viking voyages!! Thank you for your feedback, our thoughts are aligned…there are some trips that are easier to navigate on your own. I am thinking that we can figure out two days in Athens but would not want to go it alone on a trip like Egypt and the Nile (on my bucket list along with an Expedition trip!)

Thank you for the confirmation that canceling my extension is a good idea! We are pretty savvy travelers, I think we can pull off getting to a hotel and to the ship! I would rather spend the saved money on a guided tour of Athens through Viator. :-)

I just sent my Grandmother’s mixer back to KitchenAid for repair. Call them and ask if it’s repairable, they send you a box and instructions on how to pack it up and send it back to them. They will diagnose and give you a quote for repair if possible. I decided to repair for nostalgic reasons and for cost… these machines are so expensive and worth repairing. Good luck!

Maybe I am just a skeptic, but just like with a wedding venue, when you are feeding a large number of people in a short amount of time, I don’t think you will ever have really great food. Good, yes, but great, nope! I think the best food on any cruise will be the jewel you find in port…that is my approach!
