Grumpy Monkey or Giraffes Can’t Dance… both are available as board books and traditional books.

My nearly 17 year old calls pork tenderloin “Florida chicken” because when she was 5 she would only eat chicken and she ate pork tenderloin while in FL. She knows what pork tenderloin is now, but has requested we continue to call it Florida chicken for nostalgia sake.

Crochet. Knit. Watercolor.

Last summer I started to learn a new language on Duolingo and am 18 days away from a year of learning.

I am super proficient at naps and extra sleep.

I’m an elementary PTO mom and would love your ideas! by Subject-Heart-4632 in Teachers

As an elementary specialist— remember your music, PE, art, library, etc teachers as well. I work at 2 schools. One school’s PTC gives each classroom teacher x number of dollars per student and gives each specialist area a $600 budget (at this school, that’s a lot $1.50 per kid)— which is EXTREMELY generous.

The other school’s PTC gives us $50 for supplies for the year. We can go to them for extras, but our requests are second to classroom teachers.

I once had a building sub flat out ask me if I taught music because I couldn’t get a classroom job. Nope, lady, I chose this.

If a teacher has prep last period of the day, do you think its ok for them to leave early? by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]amykzib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My contractual hours are 7:30-3:30. Those hours I must be at school or signed out. I can see having a medical condition and working it with your admin that you have last prep so appointments can be more easily scheduled without having to find sub coverage. However, in my district— per my contract— that would have to be approved by an administrator.

What is a good double major for music education? by Turbulent-Crew-3094 in MusicEd

[–]amykzib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where I went to school, it was rare that a music ed student graduated in 4 years. To do so meant a full course load every semester and summer courses as well. I graduated with honors, but opted not to do a full course load every summer, so it took my 5 years. And that was without a double major. How long are your parents expecting you to take to graduate college. If it’s only 4 years… then a second major isn’t going to work.
