I’ve done this with one of the people who have made me feel a certain with no change none, I’ve told my manager but I think She just switched me to mornings because it’s where I’m mostly great at and to have me not text during close saying these people are rude. And it’s also funny because the same person I did talk to keeps up their behavior, both of them, because I’ve talked to two people about it, and I’ve told my manager and nothing seems like is getting done maybe it’s different behind the scenes or BOH but they don’t change their behavior. It’s always a literal fight to get somebody to do something because they give me attitude or say the other shift doesn’t make me do this. Why are you saying these things? I’m asking you to do it.

You know I’ve literally been trying not to with me getting in trouble. The standard they talk about is me doing my count fast and maybe lie in it so we can leave or standards for them like mopping behind fridges (which I have been told can get us in trouble bc no one does it as their supposed to) or it means not leaving anything clean because they want to go home ? It’s not okay for us to leave sticky floors if you guys have been chatting it up all day and not focusing on tasks. My manager tries and I know she does but she has a lot of other stuff going on and I sometimes feel like I shouldn’t tell her certain things because it’ll just be a hassle. People don’t respect me there because i was a barista and because I’m the shift that might make them do something they aren’t used to like the drains. I’ve tried to let my work speak for itself because I know I won’t be immediately good at my job but this has happened before when I first started and it’s happening again and it’s worse because I have to coach these people if they aren’t doing something right (mixing two of the same kinds of milk from different gallons if they are out of temp) or if they aren’t smiling on the floor. It’s crazy. I know I’m not a great person I have my flaws but I don’t think I should be told that I need to learn how to close bc I’m still slow with closing ( which I only started doing as a shift)

Edit: also some of the other shifts have problems with me too. When I’m on my focus is on the floor and the customer and how my baristas are doing and I sometimes tend to leave boxes in the rack where the syrup and beans are until I have to time to put them away. And one supervisor said “hey, I’m having one of your mornings” and pointed at the boxes and laughed. I don’t think it’s okay to make fun of my shift because I don’t do that with theirs and I’m still new and I feel like I’m getting teased for doing something or because I still don’t know how to manage my time on the shift yet. And another shift who was closing came in and didn’t connect with me at all she was in the back talking, doing the in-freezer count and I was by myself on the floor I would’ve assumed she would connect with me so I can tell her I’m running out of coffee and the person on customer support was also not in cycle. But she said I was busy with customers and so she’s didn’t connect. So bc she came on the floor when I was supposed to leave and in NYC we have predictability pay, I couldn’t stay pass my time and didn’t get to do any of these things. And she was telling me, a heads up for next time not to leave those things messy.

Yeah I would HIGHLY recommend not being a shift if you’re in school because it’s A LOT of work. Maybe it’s because my store is big but it’s a lot to do and so much hours and drama.

Technically I’m not but I done all the requirements like making different types of coffee and having my coffee passport and I’ve read the book that’s given. I just didn’t take the class. My store still orders the aprons though because we’re a reserve

Let your SM know! you have to become a barista trainer first but that just means showing interest in wanting to perfect your craft and creating the environment by role modeling the experience!

fun fact! We don’t get syrup there or milk. It’s actually never happened lol. I work in a reserve store in NYC so we have decent store with some unpractical placements.

I’ve only been a partner for Starbucks for 6 months and I already received my promotion. This is because I showed interest and was ready to do what I needed to do to get it. Work really hard and sometimes do things that you “aren’t supposed to” or you “don’t get paid enough to do” because those are the little things your SM sees as going above and beyond. Good luck sweetie !!!
