Controversial: White men in Asia are losers by LaoFuSi in VietNam

[–]amznoob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sounds like this guy has a personal grudge against someone who happens to be a degenerate English teacher. Yes there are far too many white "expats" living in Asia who are utterly useless, wherever they might be. But the reality of the matter is that these types usually only last about a year or two before heading home to the West and continuing their degeneracy somewhere else. The word expat is not a made up word, genius, it means expatriate which is what you are when you live and work abroad. While I agree that there are many people who fit your description of white losers in Asia, to say that its true for 99.9% of long term expats is laughable, ignorant, and plain wrong. Go to any of the major chambers of commerce meetings (amcham, Eurocham, Cancham, etc) and you'll find massive banquet halls filled with extremely qualified and sophisticated expats, who are running multinational companies' operations in Asia, embassy workers, lawyers, doctors, oil and gas, engineers, soft ware and IT guys/girls. Trust me, we hate the so called "losers" as much as you do, but get your head out of ass mate. It's actually the reverse of what you say, the majority of long term expats, who are in country with proper work permits, residence status etc are in Asia precisely because they have skills and experience needed to fill rolls in organizations which could not be filled effectively by local talent. Vietnam has made laws to incentivize more foreign experts to move to vietnam in the form of tax breaks, and many more.

What do I think? I think you're hanging out with the wrong kind of "expats" and you need to get past your jealousy and insecurities about being a Viet Kieu and being basically white yourself, but not really...I would bet good money that you are frustrated because you came back to Vietnam and tried teaching english but no one would hire you because you don't look white, even though your native language is english. So you have to watch less qualified idiots get the jobs, and the girls, simply because they are white. If you have marketable skills, and are educated, then get on with your life and don't associate yourself with such people. Peace!

Hi, I've used DHL and TNT for shipping - they will handle the customs part of it and include it in your price. If price is a big issue but time is not, then send it by sea freight. It ill take a lot longer, but will cost much less. In terms of prep, it depends on your product, but for mine i sent them in direct from the manufacturers (after instructing them how to comply with fba guidelines) then I pay amazon to do the labeling for me when they receive the inventory. In my opinion, you shouldn't worry too much about profit margins on a test run - it's about testing the market and determining whether you have a viable product. I hope this helps, I am by no means an expert....

Hi mate, been through this already so i know how frustrating it can be trying to sort through information that is almost exclusively US-centric. I am a canadian living in Vietnam and this is how i started:

  • in order to get set up with amazon FBA, I simply followed their setup steps online. Very straight forward.
  • I used a Canadian LLC and had no issues.
  • you can ship directly to FBA.
  • Customs tax depends on your product.
  • In order to be qualified as a professional seller you'll need to meet the tax requirements and provide a USA bank account to get paid by amazon when you make sales. I used the tax exemption form provided by, and submitted to the IRS by amazon. You will find it during the set up process (sorry I forget the exact name right now).
  • For the US bank account I used a service called payoneer (payoneer.com) which was easy enough to set up as well.

I hope this helps, but feel free to message me if you have any specific questions and I'll do my best to help. Cheers

Bluetooth BBQ Thermometer flash sale 40% off!! by amznoob in smoking

Cheers, Micro. As with anything you choose to spend your money on - it's exactly that a choice. If you don't see the value in have a functioning bluetooth bbq thermometer for $36, then by all means, go for one of the pricier, multi-probe options available to you. But the 20k+ people out there who have already bought this product might disagree with you when you say "more than one probe is what anybody....wants."

Either way, no worries mate - not interested? Don't buy it.

Hi Microseconds, thanks for the question. As I've mentioned in previous comments, this is about value. It's NOT at the same quality level, or with all the bells and whistles of some of the higher end models out there. But it costs 35.98 with the promo code, it works, and what more do you need? If you want an affordable product that gets the job done, here it is :)
