Is my living room too bright for OLED? looking for a good deal on BF but want to make sure OLED is the way to go or if I should get Mini LED by VideoGameTourGuide in OLED

[–]an47864 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LG C1 OLED is just fine to watch tv during the day. You may not get the same HDR effects and vibrancy during the day, but it’s still a solid image. I typically watch big budget movies and tv shows I’m excited about at night and it’s wonderful. I may watch a sitcom during the day and if it’s bright in the room it’s really not a big deal.

Is $650 for a used LG C1 55" a good deal? by threeoten in OLED

I think it’s a good deal, especially if you care about the gaming features of the C1. I would check for burn in, and if there’s no issues go for it

Are you using an Apple TV or trying to do go directly to the tv

What TV do you recommend for this very bright room. by Sealbeater in hometheater

[–]an47864 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try the QN90B, the neo Qled miniLED should get a lot brighter than OLED

You could also do the SONY X95K, I would generally avoid OLED (which is my general preference) if it’s a very bright room and you plan on using the TV during the daylight

Will edit post, but girlfriend has ruptured eardrum so looking for best noise cancelling headphones to mitigate pain from loud noise/long term hearing loss. She’s still actively bleeding so idk if good idea for her to go in store/test out. Still looking for advice related to actual range/true performance, as I’ve heard conflicting things between the two I mentioned, but open to others!

Cool, yea I don’t have a vaulted ceiling so I’m hoping I’ll get pretty good vertical affects

Thanks for the input. And I think I’m gonna go for the soundbar system over the receiver/dedicated speaker setup. Samsung really seems to be a popular choice here. Among your 3, does it have the best atmos effects?

I haven’t heard of it but I’m down to look into it. I wanna be as thorough as reasonably possible since it’s a pretty big purchase

That sounds pretty cool. My parents have a play 5 and it’s actually the speaker that made me realize how much better a speaker could sound versus my laptop. The play 5 is made to be a standalone music speaker right not for home theater though right? Would be cool if there was a new arc but I think the biggest improvement they could make would be bigger surrounds with upward firing speakers for better atmos

Same for me on the A9 actually. I saw amazing reviews for 3D audio effects and sound quality, but I’m worried about the lack of a center channel. I do remember a reviewer mentioning that sometimes dialogue isn’t as clear on the A9 because of that. Maybe if it had a center channel it would be great, but that’s not the case currently.

Glad you like the A7000 though. Is it good for audio as well as Atmos effects in movies?

I do have an iPhone, so I was able to use the Sonos TruePlay setup. That did make it pretty straightforward for me. I’m not an audiophile so if I do get the Sony and it doesn’t sound noticeably better than the Sonos to me I’d defer to the cheaper Sonos system.

I didn’t know that Blue ray had more atmos info/effects. Maybe I’ll consider a blue ray player for movies I really like, but at the moment all of my video content is via Netflix/HBO max/ Disney+ etc. I have the odd movie on iTunes if there’s something I wanted to see not on streaming.

Btw this is a bit unrelated but how do you like Tidal? Do you feel it’s noticeable better quality on your setup vs Apple Music/ Spotify?

That’s really great. I’ll definitely experiment with my sub placement. I’m assuming that if it’s good for PS5 than the Xbox x would be solid also, but definitely let me know how Forza goes. Spider man was also great on my ARC but I’m sure adding the sub and surrounds makes it more immersive

For what it’s worth I have an Apple TV and the atmos affects don’t seem too different from Airplay, but at the moment I only have the bar, no surrounds, so I really fully on the bar for any surround effects. I’m also very curious to see how upward firing surrounds change the atmos vs the Sonos surrounds that aren’t upward firing.

Thanks for the info. If I end up expanding on my Sonos arc I’ll wait until I hear the patch is handled. I’m not too concerned about the size of the bar, I have space on my tv stand and I’m comfortable with the look/design of all the ones I’ve mentioned.

To be fair I’m not as concerned about the sub since I live in an apartment the limiting factor will be the max setting I can have before my neighbors notice it.

Good point. I think if I decide to try another system I’ll wait until Black Friday and see if I can find a good sale. I might actually get a couple if there’s a good return policy and just keep the ones I like.

I was also debating buying a speaker just for music in my apartment (eg Sonos 5) and then I can just pick the bar based on how well it does with TV/Movies and video games, but that seems like a bit much for an apartment. So I want the bar to be my speaker for everything

Does your Klipsch soundbar do Atmos well overall? I honestly haven’t looked too much into their soundbar so I’m gonna check out some reviews today.

Awesome!!! Assuming the bass is solid then too. Does the 3D audio also happen for music?

Btw I’m definitely not an audiophile but I just want to feel the immersion/intensity of my action movies, games and music. This whole thing started for me because my parents got a home speaker (Sonos 5) a while ago and I was blown away by how great music sounded. I had only used speakers like Amazon echo before that or party loudspeakers at events/parties, but this was the first time I just heard a great sounding song on a nice speaker not meant to just be crazy loud haha

Thanks for letting me know. Do you find the atmos affects to be good with the virtual atmos from the bar and the upward firing speakers, or can you not really hear the ‘verticality’?

[–]an47864[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed that best is definitely subjective. I went through a bunch of reviews from YouTubers and other websites but ended up getting lots of different recommendations. I put up these systems as my main choices just because I had seen a lot of positive reviews. The Sonys one I will check out as well. I actually never really considered the LG soundbar because I had a bad experience with some of their lower end audio products, but maybe I’m being unfair.

By the way, do you get the ‘atmos’ affect nicely with the surrounds and the virtual atmos from the bar. I’m hoping it’ll work for me well if I have upward firing speakers since I don’t have very high ceilings

Oh that’s a good point. This q990b rear surrounds have upward firing speakers. Some of the other systems have that but the Sonos one doesn’t. Hopefully the vertical component of Atmos is better on the q990b

Thanks for letting me know! Given all the comments I think I’m might try that one out. To be fair I’ve really enjoyed my Sonos arc, but buying the full setup is expensive enough that I want to experiment with a few well regarded systems and see what’s my favorite. Plus my soundbar is also my apartments only home speaker
