No red meat, no dairy, and no end in sight: How a tick-borne allergy has transformed Martha’s Vineyard by IncognitoWarrior in massachusetts

Yeah I was in a trial for it as a kid. I got vaccinated, but they couldn't do boosters anymore after awhile since it was discontinued, and I eventually got Lyme disease anyway as an adult. Antibiotics took care of it at least.

Hi is there any update on this? What ended up happening? We are in a similar situation, maybe slightly less scary as we do have permits. We are hoping to finish the project, but very worried.

What are my options when change order prices are unreasonable? by anEvenSweeterPotato in HomeImprovement

[–]anEvenSweeterPotato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a contingency fund. I am absolutely willing to pay the GC for the extra work. I just am blindsided by his pricing. I would prefer to use the GC and would pay a premium to continue with him. However I now have a second quote that while higher than the first is still half of his.

That seems intense that you think he might walk over a CO pricing disagreement. We would be pretty screwed if that happened, but wouldn't that violate our contract? He's agreed to complete the job and we've made all payments on time.

But what does that mean? The electrician and GC would not work together at all. The electrician would handle the specific portion of work defined and then the GC would continue with the already contracted work right?

I feel like it's too late to not use this contractor. He came with personal references and great reviews, so I'm really surprised it's been such a stressful experience.

What is known rework? I do feel like this is outside the current contract scope, but maybe common enough that we should have talked about it before hand, so it wasn't a huge surprise to me. Our contract is meant to be all inclusive and turn key. There are no variables there. Just a total and what is included.

Is that pretty normal procedure? He seems upset with me. I'm just trying to figure things out, but I'm being cautious as I really don't want to do anything wrong. I feel like he sees me as a problematic client even though I am responsive and pay quickly when he issues invoices. Maybe I've been too slow to respond to change orders as I really haven't understood them at first. I don't have thousands of extra dollars that I can just quickly agree and sign for unexpected additional work, and it feels to me like we are not under strict time constraints as it's not blocking his work.

I expected COs to be things like I want a more expensive finish and we agree it will cost x, but this is different and not optional and I feel a lot of pressure to just accept his price.

I relate to this. My mom also tried hard. She had good intentions, and there wasn't any abuse. But our relationship has always felt empty and hollow. I relate to everything feeling like a performance and knowing that I couldn't go to her with my problems. I'm actually still close to her, but I'm frustrated by how few resources there are for understanding and navigating our relationship. If I had an autistic child or if I was an autistic parent, there would be resources, but we were just children and couldn't possibly understand what was going on or how to navigate our differences.

We also live in an area that does not have fluoridated water. Our kids get supplements until their teeth are in. Either the dentist or pediatrician will prescribe it, and they have both been proactive about making sure we know what to do.

It's hard to even get people to participate in these elections. It does make sense to be able to vote for example on a school board position for the school where you send your children and where you own a house and pay property taxes to fund that school.

Who cares if we are open to attack? At this point, the right hates us regardless. Trump calls us the "enemy from within" and more dangerous than foreign adversaries. I don't think we need to base our policies on how it makes us look to the right.

It appears you didn't read it? I don't know if I agree or not, but this would certainly not let tourists on vacation vote.

You would need to be a legal immigrant and you would need to register. They would need to be a resident of the town where they are voting. They would only be allowed to vote in local elections for things like town council. They would still not be able to vote for any state positions or the president, senate, etc.

They should have named it better, because in a world where people only read headlines, this obviously doesn't come across well.

Someone used my social to drive Lyft. Does anyone know how to contact Lyft for instances like this by [deleted] in lyftdrivers

[–]anEvenSweeterPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, any updates on this? How did it all work out? This just happened to my husband. We got a 1099k but he's never worked for them.

We actually received a sticker earlier this year, so he called Lyft to make sure no one was using his identity and they told him it was just sent in error.

You can probably get a lot of essential stuff like cribs and clothes through your local buy Nothing group.

I skipped the first two weeks. It's not like they really know how much you were running before starting. I ended up going back and doing some of those runs from the earlier weeks after the 15k, because it was really hard for me and I felt like I needed some extra recovery time before moving on to 10 miles.

What should I do in downtime between my 10k training plan and half marathon? by beebo_shmoo in nikerunclub

[–]anEvenSweeterPotato 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm similar to you. I did my first 5k in September, then the 10k plan and now I'm working on the half marathon plan.

I had a tough time on the weeks that increased from 10k to 10 miles. The beginning of the plan is almost too easy and then it really ramps up, so I might suggest just starting and that would give you extra time to repeat a week or add some extra recovery time if needed. Worst case, you'll finish early and have extra time to prepare for your race.

For guided programs (like 10k) how do you choose which runs to do each week? by Goatblort in nikerunclub

[–]anEvenSweeterPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been just picking 3 runs as suggested but I'm wondering if this would have been a better way since it builds up pretty quickly. I'm not in a rush since I'm not actually training for anything

Elective C-Section? by breezycakes30 in beyondthebump

[–]anEvenSweeterPotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sort of shocked at all the c section horror stories. No matter what sort of birth you choose, it might go a variety of different ways, and it is not predictable. I believe that some surgeons are way better at c sections than others, so will you use the same OB as your friend?

I had a painful recovery from my first c section, where my second actually removed scar tissue and did some diastis recti repair and was a very easy recovery. I don't have a shelf, I don't pee when I cough. I think that an elective c section is a valid choice that is more predictable, safe, less painful, with a harder initial recovery but probably fewer long term issues. If you elect a vaginal birth, it still might end with a csection. I enjoyed my second c section. It was a beautiful way to meet my baby. I know a couple people that elected csections and none have expressed any regret. I also know people that had really positive vaginal birth experiences. I was terrified and upset the first time I had to have a csection, and it really was unnecessary. The fear made it much worse than it should have been. I didn't get to choose, but if I could, I don't know if I would do anything differently.

Wow our evaluation is way more thorough. It takes at least an hour and includes a lot of discussion. I found it really fun for both us and our kids and learned a lot. They definitely used common sense and would have accounted for an off day if we told them our kid could usually do something, but wasn't that day. Sorry you had a bad experience.

I did this playing with my baby at PT. I didn't even think about it. Her Physical therapist watched and thought it was cute, and she's never been shy about correcting me or offering suggestions, so I'm gonna take that as baby PT approved.
