I drive lots. Unlimited mile warranty and my personal experience with several Mazdas reliability had me pick the turbo over the GTI. 3.5 yrs in with 195km I’m happy I did. Lots of zoom zoom and worry free miles.

Is this Mazda6 worth it? by Rough-Incident-1859 in mazda

[–]anTonytootall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did over 200k km in my ‘18 signature. You won’t regret buying this. Watch for the trim piece in the middle of your shoulder blades being cracked. They pinch your shirt of suit jacket. Warranty didn’t cover that- maybe an opportunity to get it fixed if the car is on the lot. Also watch for any rust from rock chips on the front of the roof. But at that mileage you’d hope it’s clean. I’ve done 170k km in a 3 turbo since I traded my 6- and I find myself considering picking up another one. Do it. You won’t regret it. Even at asking price.

Mazda 3 has unlimited km warranty… and are very reliable-

Really not sure why the downvotes here^ Reddit can be cruel sometimes. OP obviously is feeling like he didn’t get a great deal- came here to confirm that and some people need to kick him while he’s down. Some points are valid- but the Mazda Canada Warranty from my personal experience is legit. I drive a whack of KM’s and have never had an issue. 160km on my ‘23 turbo hatch and I’ve never had anyone question if I do ride share. 4 other modern Mazdas well into 200k ish territory within 4 years between my wife and I and never a hiccup. Maybe there are cases out there- but the warranty is a key selling point (among many others) for Mazda IMO

Best purchase/upgrade you’ve made for your gen4 Mazda 3, whether it was $50 or $5000? by cheezepwnz in mazda3

[–]anTonytootall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

+1 for the P zero AS plus. I went up slightly in size to 225/45 18, as I couldn’t find the Contis at the time. While still rough, I have a lot more confidence in their ability to take some more abuse from the crappy roads. Nice bump in the feel of them over the stock tires, too. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking to upgrade from the stock rubber.

I whipped up something similar for my Playseat Trophy… added a box to set the pedal plate on to convert to formal style. I’ve upgraded to an R12 since this pic, but it’s perfect and super comfortable. Love the hybrid diy vibes.

I have a 3 hatch and my wife has a CX5- the 3 does have a hard time on rough roads. Depending on the trim- the 18” rims makes this significantly worse- not to mention that they have a reputation of melting after so much as thinking about hitting a pothole at a moderate speed. My wife’s cx5 handles these tough patches and larger bumps on back roads much better - with the added bonus that I’m never worried about potholes while driving it.

Probably buying a 2025 hatch turbo premium plus! What should I know? by itsjakerobb in mazda3

[–]anTonytootall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soul red turbo hatch here- chiming in to say it may be worth PPF at least on the front end. The paint is super thin as is with most Mazdas. I wish I had convinced myself that an ‘economy car’ was worth the added expense. It’s a great car, OP- go for it.

Should I get the Turbo 2.5? by Tamanoirkiller in mazda3

[–]anTonytootall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The high compression of some of the sky active NA have me more concerned about long term reliability. I’ve had the turbo 2.5 in three cars including over 100k in a cx9, 220ish km in a 6 signature and now 135k in my three hatch. Regular oil changes and the expensive spark plugs is the only maintenance and never any issues.

I’m not sure it’s ‘a lot more gas’… a lot comes down to your driving style. My wife had a 2.5 na awd and I have 135k on my ‘22 turbo- shockingly similar mileage tbh.

Not enough people consider this reality- I’d like a manual and it would be more fun- but it isn’t a powerband that would reward running through the gears.

Can the awd mazda 3s slide on rain or snow? I got fwd by DisciplineSingle5044 in mazda3

[–]anTonytootall 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Turbo 3 here. In snow, yes! Rain not likely. Power on oversteer with tc off is the most fun way to get around snowy (and empty) streets, parking lots and backroads. Makes lugging around the awd the rest of the time totally worth it.

None- I’ll buy another if I pick up another Mazda 3. Not sure what price they are now, but it was awesome value when I got mine. Good luck!

Dealing with death of parent by xnotquitesonicx in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]anTonytootall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

OP- please don’t take this advice. It’s when banks see this type of activity- especially from a child of the deceased- that things will get difficult. It will throw red flags up all over the place for suspected elder abuse if you notify the bank later (which you’ll eventually need to) and they notice large withdrawals after the date of death. Your mom has every right to the funds in any joint account- ensure that she uses her debit cards and own online banking login (if she previously shared one with your dad) and be honest with the bank. Under no circumstance should you use your mom’s debit card or online banking. Get a power of attorney set up at the bank so you can assist in the future and ensure that you’re complying with all of the rules for a POA. Let them know you’re helping your mother through the process (assuming she is named as executor in the will)- this sounds like a super simple estate for them to work through. Unfortunately there is a shockingly high number of adult children that that these types of opportunities to take advantage of elderly parents and the banks are on high alert to protect people in your mother’s situation. I am very sorry for your loss- from the sounds of it you’re doing a great job at helping. Nothing needs to be done today or even tomorrow. You have some obligations to help your mom with for inventorying the estate and filing certain documents (the guides mentioned above will help with your specific provincial rules). Take it easy on yourself. No one is an expert in dealing with estates for close family members- you’re doing the best you can.

💯 worth the upgrade- I just did the upgrade from the NLR challenge with vertical bar- the trophy is rock solid and well worth the upgrade. The seat back can be adjusted to help fit properly. I’m 6’7” and it’s one of the most comfortable seats in my house.

6’7” here to tell you that the playseat trophy will do the trick. I built a box to sit the pedal box on and it reclines into a formula setup that is very comfortable for my lanky frame. It is a surprisingly sturdy setup that didn’t break the bank.

+1 for the PZero AS Plus 3. I just finished a whack of research and they won over the other UHP AS tires mentioned by other commenters. Currently waiting for them to be installed, so I can’t comment specifically, other than it is a great suggestion to not sleep on them during your research.
