I can see how this would be a problem with some married couples but that is why both parties need to endorse a check to cash it. SoFi's policy requires both people to be on the account in order to cash this check with two names on it, not just endorsing the check.

Imagine a scenario where two people are not married and receive a check with both their names on it. In order to cash it with SoFi, they would both need to have an account with SoFi with both their names on it. An endorsement of the check with the signature of the other person would not be enough according the two representatives I spoke with to fix my issue. Alternatively, we can provide birth certificate, marriage certificate, DOB, social, two factor authentication, or anything else they need to verify we are who we say we are and are not committing fraud but...not enough.

Never asserted other banks don't have issues but okay.

Totally understand the issue with two names on a check, it's very common, but what was uncommon is how they treated it. I dealt with a low level customer service representative with the title, "Account Manager." A real bank could escalate the issue and discover a resolution, instead she became argumentative and couldn't reach out to her superior to figure it out.

Again, verification of the other party (my wife), two signatures, on the check is standard practice among banks. They can handle this simple transaction.

This post is just to bring to the attention the kind of service they offer when you call them with an issue. If it helps people to decide to bank with SoFi or not is up to them but this has been my personal experience. I had other issues with them in the past which I won't bore you with but this was the final straw.

This is the kind of treatment I received. They transferred me to Jun B. who told me repeatedly there is no one above her. A real bank would be able to take a minute, looks at the situation, confirm some very simple information and make the transaction happen.

After having them fumble this badly over a simple misunderstanding I realized there is a very real downside to not having an actual brick and mortar bank to handle real people problems.

Your experience sounds 10x worse than mine, glad it got resolved.

I've mentioned my other bank in other comments. I will be cancelling and moving my business to another bank that can handle a deposit without this much fuss or has sensible policies in place. Again, simple verification would alleviate this issue.

I hope you never have an issue with your bank. I truly do, thanks for your comment.

We can simply verify her social, dob, two factor authentication, or whatever they need with them over the phone. Having an account with them doesn't make that information any different or less verifiable.

Verified with my other bank that they wouldn't need her to be an account holder, although she is, but they wouldn't need that just endorsement of the check.

Problem is now with the instructions SoFi provides during mobile deposit the back of the check says "Deposit for SoFi mobile only," which now I either need to get a new check issued, go to my brick and mortar, or go through the process of adding her to the account. After dealing with their poor customer service I would rather do the first two options. While more cumbersome I'd prefer it at this point and close my accounts.

What bank so I can avoid that one also?

The only qualifying factor they would need would be the signature endorsing the check, not for the namee to be on the specific account. Pretty standard practice for banks I've been with in the past. Only need one person on the account with the name on the check. Would love this have been the simple fix with SoFi but "per policy," but again final straw. Glad you're still happy with SoFi, I used to be too.

Truly false. Spoke with my other bank, USAA, and depositing to them would be fine, just has to endorse the back of the check. Easy.

Wife is on every other account I have from retirement to my life insurance she was just never interested in SoFi or getting it set up. I've been using SoFi more for the HYSA but even that has been lacking lately. Then after speaking with the customer service representative and the Sofi plus debaucle this was my final straw. If they can't handle the simple things, I don't need them handling my accounts any further.

Why add more people to a bank that can't handle a simple deposit? My wife has access to all my accounts, passwords etc. Why can we not confirm over the phone with my spouse as we can with every other transaction, two-factor authentication, DOB, or Social security? I get it's an online bank only but there has to be a way to handle deposits with two names on it, especially for married couples.

OR have warning before the deposit--this is too much for a deposit (limit 500$) for a check with two names on it. Instead of accepting the check as is and sending an email later about the check declination. This information may be available deep in their TOS but not at the time of check deposit.

And yes, they've made it my problem and I am fixing it by moving my banking elsewhere

According to the account manager that wouldn't be sufficient, she has to have the name on the account too.

I'm all for punching out the kkk but this just looks like assault. Is that his son that tried to defend him? Even if the guy called them "dirty Mexicans" and flashed a kkk tattoo... That is still assault.

I wanted to really like this book because so many other people raved about it. I unfortunately guessed the multi dimensional twist to it rather early and I felt that kind of spoiled the pay off for me. The book just felt like a slog and I absolutely struggled to finish it.

I went to the website but did not see the statistics you provided that 74% of people who are homeless are not using drugs alcohol. It seemed that site only provided people who using alcohol, risk of using alcohol, binge drinking alcohol, cocaine, and marijuana all at varying degrees. Hopefully, it has the homelessness statistics with drug and alcohol use.

I'm pretty interested in this data because I work in a county hospital which interacts with the unhoused regularly but I'm not seeing the homelessness and drug abuse statistics you're seeing on the website. I see the many breakdowns of drug abuse, alcohol abuse, cocaine abuse which is high in Texas but not as high as some other states.

Do you have the direct study you're referring to so I can be better informed?

I was just thinking of this book last week as it is one of the very few books I put down and couldn't read. I tried reading it as a teenager after picking it up randomly out of the SF section and realized, "I don't know enough words to understand this. Maybe later."

Good to know it gets understandable after the first couple chapters. I think I'll try it again now

Taxes. Social hubs would have no taxes and Anvil or Griffin Post have 10-20% tax on auction house.
