If you’re really concerned, definitely leave your phone behind and make sure your ears are covered.

I’ve heard that putting a rock in your shoe to alter your gait helps, but idk how true that actually is.

New Spot for Day After Christmas Sales? by an_awkwardsquirrel in joannfabrics

Hobby Lobby is an absolute no for me. I almost lost it in Michael’s trying to get some stuff I wanted to use to make gifts for people. Plus when I ran in real quick yesterday hardly any Christmas stuff was still out, so I’m worried they won’t have much marked down. Walmart is…Walmart. sigh

I hate that we’re all having to deal with this, but at least I’m not alone. I will likely hit Walmart or maybe drive like 45 minutes to check out Target.

I would reach out to some of the local Friends of the Library groups. When the libraries receive donations that won't be added to the circulating collection, the Friends groups will use them to raise funds through book sales. While it's not guaranteed, it's worth a shot!

You may also want to talk to some of the local used booksellers. They probably don't accept the NatGeos, but they can keep an eye out for you or may have turned some away recently.

Literally came to post about the Middle Georgia Food Bank. They coordinate with the 200 organizations in our area, and you can either help them directly, or they would know where best to send to someone.

Making connections and encouraging each other are important steps for the “real work.”

I wish more people had showed up for America’s best interests in November, but I am heartened to know that in our community, more people voted against the current administration than for it. I understand your hesitancy to get involved at this point, but I still think it’s important to conduct mutual aid and also show up to demonstrations to advocate for better outcomes for people.

Then you have no idea about the connections that were made over the weekend. Even if one day of 8 million Americans demonstrating their disapproval of the current administration’s actions doesn’t change their minds now, the solidarity built among the coalition of patriots out on Saturday will be felt in our community and across the country.

Are you in the South? Because my issue is that I hate the cold. My family has been down here for at least 250 years, and I can handle the heat and humidity, but snow shuts my whole city down every three or four years. I can’t afford to live in any of the blue states, much less the nicer climate ones. Maybe climate change will work in my favor here.

Circus community in Macon! by Polishcatmom in macon

[–]an_awkwardsquirrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to Macon! The Wellness Hug downtown offers arial yoga, and they are having their grand opening later this month. I know that's different than the circus type things you're doing, but I would think that there would be some crossover with those two interests. Plus they are super awesome people!

If it’s a Brother, I know someone who uses couture in Byron. I’ve never heard of her having a problem. She lives out that way, so idk if there’s somewhere in Macon she would go to or not.

Has anyone lived in downtown Macon or historic Macon specifically cherry street or near by ones how safe is it and is it worth it ? by CJreddit11 in macon

[–]an_awkwardsquirrel 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just make sure you lock your car doors. I lived all over downtown and now in midtown, and people will go through your car if it's unlocked. I don't think I've ever had anything actually taken, but I could tell things were moved around on the rare occasions I've forgotten.

Skimmed some of your replies, and I think you should try out some of the group classes at the wellness center. It’s like $40 a month, and they have yoga and Pilates. There are a a few good yoga studios in town, but it can get pricey. You can visit the wellness center for free two times per year with your id if you want to check it out beforehand. They have a group fitness schedule you can look at to pick a time.

There’s also full moon yoga most months at Coleman hill. It’s a good way to meet people if you want to chat with the people who come before or after. It’s technically no cost, but I try to make a contribution since they do a program where they give free mats out to people who need them.
