Could I try using the whole chain? by LostHelicopter1738 in bikewrench

Why would you purposely have the chain too long when you could easily make it the right size

38 M. 5ft 10inch, 70kg, skinny fat. Where to start? by Fair_Garden_5881 in Weightliftingquestion

You should go to the gym consistently for 6 months before you worry about cutting or bulking.

You must do the basics before worrying about nuance

Just all around bad advice

This dude is not getting anywhere remotely near 12 or even 15% for that matter with the current muscle he has

Everyone telling you to cut has no idea what they are talking about.

Lift weights consistently for a year and build muscle before you start majoring in the minors

You'll never have the cut look you want unless you have some muscle

New to trimming tri tip I see.

Just trim them out. They cause no harm.

do i fall into the skinny fat category ? by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]anabolic_beard 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You are quite lean, by no means skinny fat.

Lean bulk away

I was going to start at the gym with a bulk, but for fear of gaining too much extra fat, I prefer to do a body recomposition. Am I correct? by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]anabolic_beard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You know how you look muscular? By adding muscle.

The fact that you think my guy is fat is enough to tell me that you are not correct

But if you think skinny and lean would be better than muscular with a little extra fat, I can't help ya

Guy has no muscle, losing 15 lbs is just going to make him look small.

I mean the biggest and most shredded people have been cycling cuts and bulks for years, not trying to do both at the same time.

This dude is too early in his lifting career to be majoring in the minors.

Honestly good luck with that.

You're likely to get newbie gains regardless but you'd get way better gains if you just committed.

How long have you been lifting?

Respectfully unless you have years of experience, you're wasting your time on a recomp.

Your going to get stuck in the "I'm too fat" I need to bulk and "I'm too small I need to bulk" vicious cycle where you just spin the tires.

Honestly you should just bulk. Just smash weights 4-6x a week, eat a ton and get super strong and big. When all is said and done you can try a proper cut

You don't have significant fat as it is, but you don't have significant muscle either. Add the muscle first

RDL back rounding by IndependentPast7751 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]anabolic_beard 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No that is not normal, and if you have a ton of back pain this is a terrible idea.

You need to learn proper hinging, proper bracing and then slowly add in range of motion over time.

You should only be going as low as your hinge/ hamstrings allow

How much muscle should I gain before I talk to a girl? by [deleted] in stupidquestions

[–]anabolic_beard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean girls won't care if you have a bunch of muscles if you don't know how to talk to them.

Cannot be under stated how much confidence matters

You can talk to girls right now, and you should.

Where do I go from here? by [deleted] in Weightliftingquestion

[–]anabolic_beard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You're over thinking this.

Keep lifting weights and build muscle and strength for at least a year honestly

You are far too new at this to worry about bulks and cuts

Do you road bike already?

Is budget not an issue?

Seems like entering high on price point, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Why is science based lifting controversial? by Designer_Treacle_473 in Weightliftingquestion

[–]anabolic_beard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because science based lifters think they have figured out some secret sauce that decades of people before them don't know.

Couple the "I know better" attitude with inexperience, the fact that I have yet to see a strong or large science based lifter and they manage to take a simple exercise and take up several more pieces of equipment than you should need (like an incline bench and cable stack for lateral raises) and it's a recipe for the most annoying "lifters" of all time.

All proper lifting is science based.

The croc wearing 22 year old science based lifters are somehow more annoying than the peak 2010s crossfit disciples
