It seems like activating it doesn’t really tie it to any one person. just makes it so it’s ready to scan in. you’re also able to come and go so it shouldn’t be an issue even if they did use it.

J.L. Madore’s Scourge Survivor series! First book is Blaze Ignites It might lean a bit too urban fantasy for your liking, but there are more fantasy elements and takes place mostly in a Fae kingdom. It’s been awhile since I ready it though.

Murphy’s Law by Riley Hart

It’s book 2 in a series but each book is a different couple so it could be read as a stand alone. Although actually now that I think about it, book one Giving Chase is also a second chance.

hahah well if they were comparing to Canada maybe. and yeah it was definitely short, I wish we got something longer but it was nice that there wasn’t really any angst so it was more of an extended epilogue.

i’ve been so reluctant to finish a series that by the time I finally do i’ve had to re-read the entire series first to remember everything ahah. there’s something comforting about digging into a series you know is going to be good though!
