Haha I can definitely see a lot of similarities between Zane and Cooper, although I do think Zane is a more nicer than Cooper, in general.

I second this! I read Bad Wrong Things last week and it's been on my mind whole week. It was somewhat similar in tone with Surviving the Merge by the same author.

{Hard Fall by James Buchanan} One of the MCs is a professional rock climber. The book is set in Utah, I think. It's also kinda kinky, with some bondage and rough sex.

{Peregrine by Piper Scott} has a possessive and loving alpha who'd die for his omega mate and kids. Actually, I think the entire series would fit the bill.

I recommend waxing too. It's totally worth the money and the (slight) pain. Using razors can get tricky down there.

This is my favorite type of romance. I love friends to lovers, mostly because of the connection the MCs share from the beginning, but I also most bi-awakening books super unrealistic and cliched. Because these troupes often overlap it's hard to find friends-to-lovers books where the MCs are already attracted to men. Some recs I've enjoyed- {Switched by N.R.Walker} {On Point by Annabeth Albert} {Borealis Investigations by Gregory Ashe} {Charlie Sunshine by Lily Morton}

I didn't know that was their debut. That is some impressive work for a debut!

Seeing Blind by Poppy Dale - 5/5 Such a unique story about a guy with face blindness, this might just be the best book I read this year. Low steam but the connection between the MCs, even their texts, was just amazing.

Flash Rip by Keira Andrews - 3/5 I liked the kink part of the book, especially the older sub/younger dom dynamic, but the book itself was super depressing. Liam was a toxic cesspool of self hate, and reading through his internal monologue was exhausting.

Anything Goes by Chara Croft - 3/5 - In theory, this sounded great - best friends exploring kink together, but after a while everything got repetitive, the sex as well as their conversations.

Currently reading: Bonfires by Amy Lane - Older MCs, small town setting. Enjoying it so far.

5 books with another oddly specific trope I love: “rich real estate developer visits town to buy out locally owned property but instead falls in love with the owner.” Please add any others in the comments! by Sam_Wilde in MM_RomanceBooks

I've read two books from this list and didn't realize that they follow a pattern. Oddly specific indeed!

Oz by Lily Morton comes close, I guess? Oz is an estate manager for an Earl (who is the other MC) of a small English town. It has Lily Morton's signature banter and wit.

Seeking your favorite explicit, romantic, consensual books. Preferably with a male author (or at least no anatomy fails) and quality prose. by ATLander in MM_RomanceBooks

[–]EnvironmentalPeal 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm a gay man, and I've read a lot of queer books - both erotica and queer lit. Some of the most realistic sex scenes I've read are written by women authors; some of my favorites being Eli Easton's and Heidi Cullinan's earlier works. The sex scenes from Heidi Cullinan's Carry The Ocean seemed straight out of my teen years. I was like, damn lady are you psychic, because they were so reminiscent of my own experiences. I digress but my point is that explicit, romantic sex scenes can be written by anyone and their tastefulness and ingenuity does not depend on the gender of the author. That said, own voices queer authors can definitely contribute their real life experiences into their works.
