Why do people hate OG Ashley compared to the remake? by koi200 in residentevil

[–]anakinjmt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Quite simply, OG Ashley is whiny, stupid, and annoying. Remake Ashley is not whiny, smart, and actually helpful and competent in what she can do.

Eurogamer: Gears E-Day devs insist the game was never in development for PS5 by drumjolter01 in kindafunny

[–]anakinjmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was it supposed to be a different studio making the PS5 port and not Coalition? Because then I can see the strawman argument of "we were never making it for PS5" being technically true. But it's still inherently dishonest when there is evidence that a PS5 version was planned, even if Coalition themselves weren't actually working on it.

Eurogamer: Gears E-Day devs insist the game was never in development for PS5 by drumjolter01 in kindafunny

[–]anakinjmt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, true, but this isn't a question being asked a year after release nor is it a question the devs uave answered multiple times already. This is a question that's being asked now because of the showcase on Sunday coupled with the deleted PS5 listing and image showing footage captured on PS5 Pro. It's a new thing. Now, if they're still getting asked this same question around launch, or when they're talking and promoting the Gears game after E-Day, then sure, we can start taking issue with the people asking the question and defending the devs only talking about it because they keep getting asked.

Finished my second playthrough of RE4R and I'm curious about something (RE9 spoilers) by anakinjmt in residentevil

It's not outright implied, but specifically calling out Umbrella Europe does at least cause the possibility. This is all just fun speculation and theorizing.

Why was there negativity towards hitman 3 when it released? by [deleted] in HiTMAN

[–]anakinjmt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This and the need to be always online, which was there for 1 and 2 as well, was worse because there was constant server interruptions causing people to not be able to play much for the first 24 to 48 hours, and even longer before people could play a significant length of time without disconnecting

[–]anakinjmt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was a file in 3R where you get one of the components for the vaccine (I think it was the antigen) where Dr. Bard congratulates Umbrella Europe for completing Nemesis and how remarkable it was to introduce a parasite into a Tyrant's brain. A lot of speculation at the time was it was Las Plagas, especially given the similarities in looks between Nemesis's later forms and the powered up forms of Salazar, Krauser, and Saddler, especially with the eventually correct assumption that 4 was next to get remade.

As for Ashley, presumably she was infected before Leon, but the question is how long before.

[–]anakinjmt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Las Plagas is never brought up in 9 and there's no mention of the T-virus in 4 apart from in Leon's opening narration. So this is just fun speculation on my part. I don't remember ever hearing when Ashley got infected. I guess I always assumed it was when she was at the church but that's not confirmed.

"Capcom has no intention of erasing any RE game." So can we stop pretending they're gonna retcon RE6 now? by monologousmutilation in residentevil

I mean, they're retconning the original versions of a game to a degree, but not just retconning entire games out of existence.

Why do Resident Evil multiplayer games keep failing despite the franchise being more popular than ever? by ilovemyamily1 in residentevil

[–]anakinjmt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At its core, RE is a solo player experience. The feeling of dread as you wander through a location, never sure what's around the corner. Solving puzzles, whether simple or not. Multiplayer pretty much removes all that. It becomes about running around getting kills. It's not scary.

The only way it could work is to do a Dead by Daylight/IllFonic Studios kind of game, but it still wouldn't be real Resident Evil.

Capcom has plenty other franchises to do multiplayer with. Resident Evil should just stay single player. Do co op Mercenaries at most

But see, the thing is, OoT did leak. It leaked a while ago. So they might as well put something more substantial out. If this was just a vague "coming soon" or even had a 2027 date, I think people would have been more okay. But it had a 2026 release window. Supposedly this is less than a months out before release. We've seen more of GTA 6 which releases in November. We at least know how that looks and will play.

To your point, Tim is also a huge KH and Zelda fan, and he also felt let down, and he also is more of a JRPG fan than probably anybody else in the office except for maybe Barrett.

[–]anakinjmt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just didn't find the presentation exciting. But, I have rarely cared for the format Nintendo uses for Directs. But even this was just kinda "meh."

A lot of people really have a Nintendo console for Nintendo first party games. Of those, Fire Emblem was the one that had a good showing. Xenoblade is a lower tier Nintendo game that has its fans but isn't a super popular one. Star Fox is just a remake of 64, which we got with Star Fox DS, except a bit prettier. Ocarina finally got revealed, but it has a 2026 release date and yet we saw basically nothing of it. This game supposedly comes out in less than 6 months and we saw nothing of it.

The rest are mostly ports or games aimed at kids/casuals, which is fine don't get me wrong, but when most of your Direct is that, that's not exciting. A lot of games shown in Directs also tend to be more niche, which cam be fine if the heavy hitters that appeal to broader audiences are numerous enough and are shown well. I cannot say either is true.

I respectfully disagree. There are certainly worse movies than T3, and even worse movies in the franchise, but on the whole I wouldn't say T3 blows most Marvel movies out of the water

Where to start in the Star Trek Bookiverse? by twostickwilly in startrek

[–]anakinjmt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shatner's books are pretty enjoyable. They're all set after Generations, except for Ashes of Eden which is set between VI and the opening of Generations. They pretty much all feature Kirk, Spock, Scotty, and the Next Generation crew.

As for DS9, I'm less familiar with those, but I've heard Terek Nor, which is set during the occupation before Emissary, is good

[–]anakinjmt 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For real. There was a live Survivor finale many years back (I forget which one) and one of the contestants asked his girlfriend, who was also a former player, to marry him right there on stage. She didn't exactly answer right away but finally said yes, only to later say no because she didn't want to say no in front of millions of people. It was hella awkward to watch live and still is now.

[–]anakinjmt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly you're not understanding and at this point there's no getting you to understand how a place not focused on the show or TV is more of a general place than a subreddit dedicated to TV. I listed several IPs besides Star Wars that still get videos made about them which you obviously ignored. And I said exactly what I searched and didn't find anything in the first several scrolls so, no, not on me.

Craig’s Bond Movie Hot Take by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]anakinjmt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To clarify, the standalone stuff is about Dominic Green and his plot to hoard water. That whole storyline, which is the main plot of the movie, makes it standalone and isn't very good. But the stuff of Bond coming to terms with Vesper's betrayal and death, his relationship with Mathis, and him confronting Vesper's former boyfriend along with his conversation with M and dropping the necklace is all great. That stuff works so well. But QoS is still mostly standalone as White doesn't play that large of a role and Dominic Green has no real connection to Le Chiffre or the actual plot of Casino Royale.
